I really liked the new Boards of Canada album that came out, but most of my plays went to a more local act that has finally found the sound that's gonna make em big.

i got that impression but even hipstery poo poo finds a way to sneak in a few good songs in an otherwise boring album. i'm gonna listen to transient random-noise bursts before i form a concrete opinion

on the list of albums to listen to today:
- transient random-noise
- ed rush - travel the galaxy
- future engineers - exhale compilation
- boc - tomorrows harvest
- sunny day in glasgow - scribble mural

if you're gonna listen to stereolab, get 'emperor tomato ketchup'. imo it's their best front-to-back record. i can understand someone finding them in 2013 might not be as impressed as those of us who first heard them in the early 90s tho.

as far as albums of 2013, i would say that the one i've been listening to the most is year of the goat - "angel's necropolis". dunno if i'd say it's the "best" album of 2013, as it isn't really anything groundbreaking; it's just a really kickass rock album.

- future engineers - exhale compilation
- boc - tomorrows harvest - this was really good, and i really enjoyed the listen. very good gaming music, and it reminds me a bit of carbon based life forms which is a good thing
- sunny day in glasgow - scribble mural - started out alright, moved into whisper voices and noise, then became unlistenable. drat shame because the begining is actually neat and good for downtempo / ambient / w/e the gently caress

adding emperor tomato ketchup to my list of albums to listen to but its p low on priority list

thx will check those out

sunbather is a decent album, I might see deafheaven when they tour. the hype behind them is silly, though

lately I've been listening to Dodsferd (blackcmetal) and a bit of Kadavar (70s psych)

Also MOSS (doom) http://youtu.be/Nq2SmXAsJus i joined the moss weed club today

its actually pretty good, if not a little generic. it is not what i thought it would be (ambient) but more of a jungle and drums n' bass thing. it starts out weak but gets better towards the end. it will go on my playlist of cds for gaming for sure.

their ellipse ep starts strong though so if you want to check them out i'd recommend starting there.

i love gaza but none of their albums could top their first one. "i don't care where i go when i die" is one of the filthiest, most bleak records i've ever heard.

sucks they broke up tho, even though i hear they were all complete shitheads irl.

apparenly the break up was due to one of them being accused of rape and later the accuser and the accused coming to a resolution(he probably did it then), the rest of the guys moved on and formed another band called cult leader which is pretty much gaza without the rape story attached
