Evil Genius had an annoying as hell, but equally funny in-universe glitch: To make money, you'd send your jumpsuited minions over the world to steal money. The money would sit in your heliport (in the form of briefcases), where they'd put the briefcases on a rack, and gold bricks would pile up. When you bought something, the process would go in reverse: gold to rack to briefcase to heliport. However, if you let too much gold pile up, eventually the stacks of gold would block the briefcase rack. So your minions (who are said to be pretty stupid) would have no way to take or deposit briefcases. Screwed your game, but the idea that your guys can't navigate the ~3ft between gold piles was kind of funny. I suspect that this glitch was intentional, because stealing money is supposed to be balanced by your enemies sending forces against you. But before the First Mission, this response doesn't occur. So you could steal all the money you'd need for the whole game... unless you didn't pay attention and you blocked the briefcase rack.

If the level becomes unwinnable just let me restart it with other settings. Small price to pay for rampant buffoonery.

It's not technically a glitch, but I loved the deliberate use of reference pose in Saint's Row 4. It's a great meta-joke on the player's knowledge of the medium.

Saints' Row 4 is kinda buggy, though, so there's points where the game craps out and you're not sure if it's being serious. Saints' Row 4 gamified Poe's law.

Both the highlights and blooper reels from this year's Summer Games Done Quick have huge numbers of glitches, many of which are pretty spectacular, although the highlights reel is better for this particular thread. From the speedrun thread:UraniumAnchor posted:Finally got around to finishing up the encodes for SGDQ (seriously, it takes a while, the encoding time alone was a good two months of the computer churning away even aside from all the grunt work):

Last night I was dicking around with save editing on the Steam release of FF7, and tried to plonk down an airship on the world map so I could cheat like hell. For those of you who aren't familiar with FF7, see this? This is the town of Junon. The cannon attached to it is, predictably enough, called the Junon Cannon. When I loaded my game, I was the Junon Cannon. I don't mean I had the same model. I moved the analog stick, and the loving Junon Cannon effortlessly slipped away from its hometown and I proceeded to wander the world map as it forever, with no encounters, no access to menus, no nothing. I have no idea what the game thought was happening, but holy poo poo.

Kimmalah posted:As long as it's not a crippling game-breaking bug, the weird glitches are part of the fun for me. It's not really a Bethesda game until you've fallen through the map at least once. Also, earlier this week I discovered the fact that in New Vegas, if you set any part of a corpse on fire, all parts catch fire. Makes it a lot easier to figure out which chunks of exploded bad guys belong together and make sure you're not missing any loot.

Does anyone have footage from ACIV of Edward suddenly rocketing 100 feet into the air like he was using that suicidal Jump spell from Morrowind (and having the same result). That's so far the only glitch I've encountered, and I laughed my rear end off when it happened.

Having just marathoned AssCreed:Rev, it's actually just so nice to see some kind of positive emotion on an assassins face. Edit: And just starting AssCreed3, I see they've overhauled the facial animation system to give you even more technologically impressive angst faces. Woo. I Didn't like the first one because it was so repetitive but wow did they make leaps and bounds to the rest of the series.

The first one felt more like a proof-of-concept than a full game. They made all the really bad mistakes there and fixed them in the second game. Personally, I didn't like how the series became more of a sandbox than a full on stealth game. I was really hoping for something like Hitman: Blood Money with good platforming. Hearing about all these glitches really makes me wanna play the fourth one, though. Plus, pirates.
