Every year young people disappear…

For our 25th show we’re featuring David Schmoeller’s Tourist Trap. A unique, original slasher from the late 70s. After our Maniac show it seemed correct to focus on another horror movie that brings mannequins into the foreground and no other film does that better than Tourist Trap. What would you do if you were trapped by a killer with incredible telekinetic powers? Would you have what it takes to survive or would you end up another tortured mannequin at his disposal? Tourist Trap stars Chuck Connors. It has the stunning Tanya Roberts running around in daisy dukes the whole film. She was a bond girl in the 80s A View to a Kill. It also stars Jocelyn Jones, Jon Van Ness and Robin Sherwood. We were also privileged to get writer/director David Schmoeller on the phone after we watched the film and he gave us a great interview to share with you. He explains how the idea of Tourist Trap originated and what inspired him to make the film. How it almost didn’t get finished. The turmoils of his Crawlspace movie. We’ll also talk about his new film that’s coming out called Little Monsters. Join us for another 45 minute show filled with soundtrack music and audio clips of the scenes we discuss.

In this episode we discuss the possible US intervention in Syria and the possible political ramifications here at home, especially as they pertain to the upcoming debt fight and to party realignment in general. Some interesting facts and points of history are discussed also, as well as the Iraq war runup from 2003 which had a lot of the same supporters as the possible intervention in Syria does. We close with a discussion of Russia and its relative power as an adversary in Syria and elsewhere.

Terror You Can Sink Your Teeth Into...

One man that showed a lot of class when we met him at Fan Expo was Joe Dante. This was the man that gave us Gremlins when we were kids. He thrilled us with The Burbs and gave us another reason to fear the open water in 1978's Piranha. In the early 80s there was a rash of lycanthropy horror films. Werewolves were all the rage. Among these monster movie gems was Dante's The Howling starring Dee Wallace with horror veterans Kevin McCarthy and John Carradine. The Howling was a combination of excellent writing, a strong cast, smart direction and state of the art special effects by many skilled hands, including Rob Bottin and Rick Baker. This is just the film to sink your teeth into. Join us as we celebrate classic 80s werewolf goodness!

Show Highlights:

01:00 Ministry welcomes you with Psalm 69...
02:17 Unleashing The Howling...
03:30 The screening of The Burbs
05:08 Reminiscing on Gremlins...
08:00 Early 80s exploded with lycanthropy films...
10:30 Dee Wallace goes to a porno...
12:30 Kevin McCarthy's horror roots...
14:00 Surprised to see Patrick Macnee (love for Waxwork)...
15:50 The Ancient John Carradine...
17:25 Seduced by Elizabeth Brooks (RIP you vicious Canadian minx) 19:20 The horror of Eddie (is that really Robert Picardo?)
22:00 The final broadcast...
24:30 A profound comparison to Rosemary's Baby (Brian Stewart insight)
26:50 Scoring the film and final thoughts...

Hueheheh-and you GOT one
The Revengerists' Podcast of Stuff
http://revengerists.wikia.com/wiki/Podcast
iTunes | RSS
Genre: Comedy/Enterainment?
Release schedule: 2 Per Month (typically, but is inconsistent)

Based on the Revengerists' Consortium of Stuff wiki, our show stars three awesomes (super powered individuals; and no, our term pre-dates that hulu cartoon 'The Awesomes') Breshvic Penicillin, Dr Tasty, and Southside Santa. We discuss strange current events, perform skits, story readings, and radio-plays. Other characters appear as guests on the show and in radio-dramas we read.

We created this group a while back. Think superheroes that are terrible at their jobs either through laziness, apathy, or outright malice. We don't have an official website for the podcast, but it is featured on our wiki, which is linked above. Many of the items we discuss are documented in the wiki somewhere, including our characters. Quality of writing on the wiki ranges from competent to offensively terrible. Currently we have over 620 articles. We encourage people to join and add their knowledge(?) to our database.

In our show we do mostly improve with the occasional scripted event. Here are our typical segments:
Introduction
Discussion of weird current events
Crisis Skit (wherein we investigate and solve a sudden crisis, usually badly)
Radio-Drama Reading
Discussion of Crisis or Radio-Drama
Dr Tasty's Jerk Who Needs To Be Punched In The Face Of The Week
Santa's Product Recommendation (which he has not tried)
Outro

Each of us is in a different part of the country and we record over skype; Breshvic does a good job doing what he can to clean up the sound quality, but it varies. The first couple of episodes kind of drag, but they get much better. Episode 12 is my favorite.

We also go over the specific effects of the shutdown of monuments and national parks, and go over the types of expenses and reforms that are being ignored as the shutdown and debt debate drags on.

You're invited to Angela's Halloween Party...

Just in time for Halloween, the Horror 101 team is giving the royal treatment to Kevin Tenney’s Night of the Demons. Not since Carpenter’s Halloween has a film captured the spirit of the holiday so well in a horror film. Night of the Demons is a mixed bag of humour and chills with one of the best single set, claustrophobic settings ever filmed. It features some twisted horror effects from meistro Steve Johnson, a memorable performance from scream queen Linnea Quigley, a great 80s synth score and a bag full of awesome. We’ll share some Halloween stories and give an in depth look at why this film has been a Horror 101 favourite for decades. It’s another show filled with audio clips and great music in the Horror 101 style. Come celebrate Halloween with us at Angela’s party and the Night of the Demons.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
1:00 Injecting a little Halloween Spirit…
3:40 The Halloween the World Famous Brian Stewart won’t forget…
6:30 Introducing Night of the Demons…
9:00 “C’mon, we don’t want to be late for our own party.”
11:00 They WILL pay for their trespassing….queue the seance.
13:00 “It sounds like it’s coming from the basement…”
15:40 Demonic what-cha-macallit!! (Eat a bowl of gently caress!!)
16:40 The dance number to die for…(props to Bauhaus)
20:05 The most awkward gently caress in horror history…
21:25 Judy can scream (better than she can act)…
22:20 The best character in the movie…HULL HOUSE!
24:25 Lipstick Titties!!
26:23 The torment of the demons (compares to Evil Dead)
30:00 The masterful effects of Steve Johnson…

This is very much a comedy show, were we generate a bunch of material by reviewing an "interesting" album, very much in the style of How Did This Get Made. Our latest episode was an xmas festive show, where we listened to Bob Dylan's Xmas album, some highlights included;

  • Is it a motorbike? Is it Louis Armstrong? No! It's Bob Dylan!
  • "Blow the bridge drummer boy!"
  • Mastermind challenge: Santa's reindeer
  • Pacific Island Christmas
  • How many children would you murder for a Dylan classic

Feedback greatly appreciated, we're based in Scotland so beware accents/UK cultural references!!!

10 years of oil boom and 20 billion dollars cash, all I got was a case of beer, a pack of smokes, and 14% unemployment.
Thanks, Danny.

Listened to your 6th episode and was amused. I now know breasts are cannon in Star Wars. Good banter, and actually relativly focused.
It doesn't sound like everyone is the same distance from the microphone or if you're doing it over Skype, someone's levels are off.

Hey thanks! Yeah, we realized we were having equipment issues, so we just tried to roll with it as best we could. A tech upgrade is definitely in order before our next record.

Genre: Political commentary/opinion
Released: Usually bi-weekly on average, sometimes weekly and sometimes once a month
Goon: VH4Ever
Description: Basically The Edge Of Chaos is a podcast with me and my hardcore Randian libertarian Ron/Rand Paul supporting friend from high school (I am a former libertarian and current Progressive liberal) debating various current events, political and economic theory, or anything else that's interesting in the political sphere. In this episode, after a bit of fun at Vladimir Putin's expense, we try to untangle the mess in Crimea while also attempting to frame the events of today in their proper historical context with a few lessons on Ukraine's and Russia's respective past relationships over the last few hundred years. From there, we discuss who has what at stake as this crisis unfolds and hazard a few predictions on how it all may turn out. Also, we deeply examine and criticise the US and European media coverage of these events and in particular examine the response of the American neo-Conservatives who seem to view Putin as a "great leader" who is effective in pushing his agenda and accomplishing his goals. Lastly, we examine the claim of a Russian-Chinese "alliance" of sorts coming from some pundits on Fox News and elsewhere.
