In It For The Tank posted:Everyone should listen to San Fermin. Put Matt Berninger in Sufjan Stevens with a female lead singer to duet with and you probably have pretty good idea of what it sounds like. heck yeah! I am the saxophonist in this band, we just played a big show in Brooklyn and I'm on a bit of a high, trawling the forums to see if anybody was talking about it. Glad some people out in the great wide internet are listening. I would actually really recommend watching the audiotree.tv sessions we did a couple months ago, they're actually WAY better than the Tiny Desk in my opinion! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4ts5vdhP3o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LySJAKmwOo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW8EhsxwPJA (and there are a couple more you can click through to) Also awesome to see some Lucius love in this thread, they're actually the singers on the album (although we have a different singer live, as Lucius took off, obviously). Too bad they're not doing "Hey Doreen" live, that's my favorite song from the album. To add to this thread, I recently discovered an amazing band from California called Kiev who just released an album called "Falling Bough Wisdom Teeth" (which must be some kind of anagram). Highly recommend - here's a video of them playing the opening track live. They've got a dark, groove-oriented sound that's a bit reminiscent of Radiohead, if you like them. (If you're in this thread you probably do..) "Ariah Being" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0l4L1KnUlY "Loot Recovered" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD7eEikpbho

I can't stop listening to The White Whales debut album 'Lakestate'. Came out in August seeing as I am working my way through the best of 2013 thousand song playlist on spotify alphabetically I've only just reached them. Lovely guitar based tracks with great lyrics and some synthy stuff in there. Infinitely catchy. God bless the internet for allowing me to listen to new music so easily.

This is really lovely but it seems you kids got back on track. Did you manage to recover any gear? I've gone to bigger venues than the one they played at, yet Phantogram in a smaller place was still louder than any other, and wrecked my body for a good two days after the show. So a couple months back I saw Kishi Bashi in Northampton, and holy crap, he was fantastic. Before then I'd just heard 151a, his debut studio album. It was nice, happy indie pop, but not that memorable. His live stuff is a lot more exciting. More improvisation, more energy, and (pardon my musical ignorance) some looping thing with the violin. Check him out! Live in Norfolk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZsBtNnwsSw Tiny Desk Concert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgqAmZHkkTg

Suuns are pretty cool. I like the variation between the more discordant noisy parts of their sound and the more chilled parts, and some of the beats remind me of The Chemical Brothers which is always a good thing.

I was going to mention TSM but figured they were mostly forgotten about at this point. Which is awful. They were my first (and second, and third) concert and one of my favorite bands of all time too. Now Here is Nowhere is an insanely tight album. Now I'm sad again. Luckily the other guys from the band are still out there making music. Brandon Curtis' Cosmicide only has one song out. I don't love it, but I'm interested to see what happens if he decides to move forward with it. Josh Garza's Electric Flower Group are working on their first album. The stuff that's been recorded is okay but they're a really fabulous live show - I hadn't heard of Imaad Wasif before but he's really impressed me. I go see them whenever I can, really nice fellows . That's about the extent of my indie knowledge these days. I need to discover some new music. Are there any really great psychedelic bands out there right now?
