Someone recently uploaded an old Pendulum live show from 2006 at SEOne to Youtube, and it's pretty good. OG lineup too, with Matt White on guitar and their old MC, MC Jakes. It's a more In Silico influenced show, but it's still got some classics like Slam and Fasten Your Seatbelt.

Yup, just watched this and it looks like it was an insane amount of fun, just like they were when I saw them in '09.

I can't wait for them to reform, and I hope whatever new stuff they make is Prodigy-like as Rob Swire said it would be a while back.

A fairly new release from Random Movement. "The Things You Do" was the first track on the mix of DJ Marky's "The Master Plan" album, so I guess this is a recapitulation of an earlier promotion I made in the thread. Check it out on Beatport. (Original Mix)

I'm not the biggest D&B fan, but it's been really growing on me ever since I started working at a record distro. One album that really caught my attention (the new Camo & Crooked and Sub Focus didn't) is Jubei's debut LP "To Have & To Have Not" that came out about a month ago on the one, and only, Metalheadz. The album is chock full of collaborations, having SP:MC, Goldie, Jerome Thomas, dBridge, Flowdan and Marcus Intalex help round off this fantastic package. There are only two tracks that I consider dubstep, in which Jubei employs J:Kenzo & Youngsta (two of the current scene's deepest and darkest) to rip those tracks to shreds; none of that mid-range garbage can be found here, only deep guttural bass music.

Unless you can get a nice discount buying all three of these records will cost you quite a nice sum of cash, but it's worth it if you're a fan.

Has anyone else given this gem a listen? I'd like to hear other goon's opinions on this.

Absolutely! I've been digesting this album for about a month now and have to say I'm quite impressed. It sounds a little like Icicle's Under The Ice that came out in 2011 on Shogun Audio, only with more edge. I think the collab with Marcus Intalex & DRS on Tip The Scales is my favorite though:

Definitely, one of my favorite albums this year. Getting the vinyl for Christmas, but I got the digital when it was released, which had the instrumental version of "State Of The Art". Hopefully Jubei doesn't go quiet for a while after this, took a while for this to get finished up & released. I felt like the album was an ode to Metalheadz, and reinforces their current output.

BTW anyone in the DC area planning to go to the Machinedrum show next week? I'll be opening. Expect lots of Stray tunes...

Seriously even I liked it. I know, 28 Gun Bad Boy in liking contemporary D&B shocker! Only on CD though. The vinyl is actually pretty decently priced here all things considering, £15-16 which is a bit less than a 3x12 bundle usually is nowadays. Still a wee bit too expensive and still does that annoying D&B thing of only sticking the non-singles on there, but ah well. Long gone are the days I'd buy the CD and LP versions though.

I got a wee bit of a shock once I realised DRS from Broke'N'English was on the vocals on Tip The Scales too, one of the few UK Rap groups that really should get some proper kudos. Is Jubei from Manchester or was that a Marcus Intalex link there?

It's also nice to see Metalheadz having a proper resurgence over the past couple of years. Especially since it's a label that everyone used to name check, the first 25-30 releases at least.

DRS has a whole album on Soul:r from earlier this year, or late last year. I think Jubei is from Newcastle, or somewhere in the north UK. He's 1/3rd of Code 3, which includes SP:MC, and that might be the connection to DRS too, or through Breakage.

And agree on Metalheadz, I've been really in to a lot of the releases of the past two years, but then again I also really liked all the Commix releases a few years ago.

And yes, shocked 28GBB!

Oh hey I actually forgot about that LP of his. I remember thinking it was a fantastic title too! Like I said I know of him more from his BNE stuff, and instantly recognised the voice before I even checked who was on the vocal. I was just wondering as most of the stuff he's been involved with tends to revolve around that whole Manchester scene, like BNE were on that first Zed Bias House LP that nobody apart from me bought, and obviously Marcus Intalex from there too.

And to doubly shock you that recent Blu Mar Ten LP and that Justice & Metro LP out on MJazz earlier on in the year was another couple I really liked. Probably a sign of the apocalypse!

Jiminy Christ, how were able to open for Machinedrum? I see that you live in DC, so that's probably not purely coincidental, but it still sounds hella rad. (On a related note, I'm kinda hoping to skitch cross country so I can somehow make it to Vancouver for his upcoming session)

Been around a while, I play the venue a few times a year and asked if I could open. Sometimes though the booking agents want right of refusal for their artists' openers. Didn't really know about that until a couple months ago, opened for a duo on tour and was told by the club their management "okay'd" me opening for them.

Congratulations on the booking than! I saw Machinedrum a couple of weeks ago here in Chicago and his set was straight up ridiculous. He pulls off the live performance perfectly. Primary was the most packed I've ever seen it too. If anyone here has the chance to go to a Machinedrum Live show DO IT!

Also apparently he's not part of Hospital anymore? He released this single on CYN Music, which is a new label he started. The label only has 3 artists: Cyantific, Dimension and Karma. And he's not listed on the Hospital roster anymore.

The label is Cyantific Records, been around a few years, a few really good releases on it IMO, and Wilkinson is involved in the operation of the label as well. Also, Cyantific is just one person nowadays, may be related to the split from Hospital.

There's a hospitality event in London in February that a friend convinced me to go to, and so now I'm trying to get up to speed with the lineup (which I'm quickly learning is amazing). The Etherwood album is fantastic! This (plus a slightly enlightening experience in room 2 of a club recently) has reminded me that I really do love drum and bass (I guess I've been sidetracked over the last few years by other stuff) and I'd like to get more acquainted with the genre.

Is there anything on hospitality that I have to check out? Right now I'm just listening to a smattering of albums and DJ sets from people off the lineup, but I'd imagine people in the thread have some favourites.

Hello thread :)

Been a DnB guy for ever really.. after the 90s wore off and that Ultrasonic sound was so played out.. the darker and deeper rolling vibes of the dnb scene caught me (along with so many others) up in it's avalanche.

Do we have many/any Euro posters or people outside the States? Any London crew? SunandBass apparently went off this year and I'd love to go to the next one.

Here is a set from SunandBass 2013 I've been listening a lot to lately, this is certainly the kind of groove that gets me going these days. Hope some of you like it!

http://www.bassblog.pro/2013/09/calibre-b2b-marcus-intalex-live-sun-and.html

Keep up the new music, I'm listening to all of it :)
