AHD and HoD are much more in the old style of "fix everything" Paradox expansions rather than the CK2 "optionally flesh out a dimension of the game" kind.

Trustworthy posted:I too am just getting back into Vic2 (for the first time since release). Are There are only two expansions? but, yes, both expansions, especially the second, are more or less necessary. The base game was my favorite Paradox game until CK2 came out, but I was in a tiny, tiny minority who held that opinion, and even then I'll still say you need the expansions. Even if you enjoy the vanilla version, you'll enjoy it with expansions so much more.

Thanks for the advice, I definitely got into V2 this time, I didn't get to bed until 6:30 am because I was too busy building railroads and increasing the cause of the proletariat in Brazil!

As for Deseret and tech, I suspect this is something to do with the American nations that ship with the game that I included - I'll pull out their country files and "fix" them manually. I love the additional suggestions for the mod.

Honestly, I think the issue is just that Virginia starts off surrounded by weak states and has cores on all of them. After absorbing Maryland, Delmarva and Kentucky there is no way for Westylvania or North Carolina to compete. You would probably see similar behavior if you gave all the Thirteen States their original land claims.

The biggest battles would consist of 300 Norwegian peasants vs 250 Swedish Peasants and 50 poorly equipped infantry and it would still be ten times the game Rome 2 total war is right now .

There's a halfling mouse(?) girl on the 3rd, and the indents on the walls on the 10th suggest fantasy architecture to me, so I've decided it's Paradox's Master of Magic. Or, since they own the Majesty license, Majesty of Magic?

Perhaps Paradox is making a post-apocalyptic grand strategy game, complete with mutations, that uses the nuclear winter model. It'd be a nice change-up from all the deserts depicted in post-apocalyptic games.

I'll be happy with Laurasia Universalis even if it is just an EU4 DLC in the style of Sunset Invasion. But god you can't just say you've floated the idea (as a joke or not doesn't matter) and not follow through with it.

So I just saw the trailer for Warlock 2. Between that and Leviathan Warships, I'm starting to wonder - does Paradox's advertising strategy currently consist of "Try to make the audience laugh and hope it all works out"? Can't say I disapprove, exactly. Beats the hell out of some ad strategies I've seen in the past.

I'm sorry, but is there any reason at all to suppose that the Holiday Countdown is to a PDS-developed title? The page only has a Paradox Interactive logo, so I would suppose it's just a PI-published game, which could be literally anything. (Seriously, Paradox, start using different names for the publisher and developer.)
