So we just batted one quickly, and that's exactly what happened. I wanted to protect the name, because it's the type of thing [where] someone else might say, 'Hey, why don't we put out a Spider-Woman; they can't stop us.' ... You know, years ago we brought out Wonder Man, and [DC Comics] sued us because they had Wonder Woman, and ... I said okay, I'll discontinue Wonder Man. And all of a sudden they've got Power Girl [after Marvel had introduced Power Man]. Oh, boy. How unfair.

What exactly is the relationship between Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and Spider-Girl?

Spider-Girl first appeared in JMS' Spider-Man, running around in a his costume. Then she was in Ms. Marvel after Civil War as part of The Initiative, I don't really know what happened after that.

Spider-Woman is the 2nd (I think) person to go buy that, and was created a long time ago, mostly so that DC or some other comic company didn't create a Spider-Woman character, and then Bendis fell in love with her. No real connection to Spider-Man though.

They are all inferior to Spider-Man.

Spider-Girl is kind of inspired by Spider-Man's example.

Spider-Woman pretty much developed on her own, independently from Peter Parker. She was (initially) literally gene-engineered by her dad to be part Spider, part woman. She was then changed to be an actual human who got spider based powers spliced into here (either as a result of uranium exposure, or Spider-lasers.) And then she went to HYDRA spy school to become more kick rear end.

I'm a Barrister. That's a lawyer who specialises in court room procedures for you Americans.
As part of my clothing, I'm expected to wear suits (ideally three piece ones), a gown (yes, like out of Harry Potter) a wig (these are now optional, but I wear it proudly) and a tab.

We also wear special custom made shirts which don't have collars. The idea is we are supposed to attach Wing Collars to the shirts when we are in court and hold them in place with studs. The idea is if we have to go from court to a meeting or a somewhere outside of court, instead of changing shirts we can just attach a "normal" collar.

It's is initially really frustrating (not too mention harder to buy and more expensive.) but provided you keep the shirts clean and the wash the collars too (and starch them) it's fine.

Plus it looks pimp.

It sucks that she had to change her name to Spider-Girl, because there's already a Spider-Girl in the M2 Universe so it's gonna get confusing when referring to one or the other. I do like the new outfit, it reminds me of the other Spider-Woman's costume.

Current Spider-Girl used to be called Araņa and has mystical powers. After Grim Hunt she changed her name.

She doesn't have mystical powers anymore. Her very shortlived solo series had her just getting by with a grappling hook and moxie. At the very end she got her spider-powers back because Spider-Island was happening at the time and she was just another person who got spider-powers. Conveniently her solo series got canceled right at that time, so nobody really had to deal with the part of the story where all the people empowered during Spider-Island started mutating into giant spiders, or the part where they all lost their powers thanks to Peter/Anti-Venom. I guess they just decided "gently caress it, she keeps the powers because she's special or whatever."

Andrew Verse posted:

What exactly is the relationship between Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and Spider-Girl?

Spider-Man: Peter Parker. Duh.

Spider-Woman: That's Jessica Drew, the first Spider-Woman (there have been several).

quote:

In her first appearance, Spider-Woman was to be an actual spider evolved into a human as imagined by writer/co-creator Goodwin. Her debut was shortly followed by a four-issue story arc in Marvel Two-in-One in which Wolfman presented a different origin retcon as he felt her original origin was too implausible for mid-1970s readers.
...Archie Goodwin could be odd. Anyways, Jessica Drew has no real connection to Spider-Man in any way, shape, or form, aside from the trademark issue raised by Stan Lee.

Spider-Girl: Anya Corazon used to go by the name Araņa but is currently going by Spider-Girl (she's the second Spider-Girl to be published by Marvel, but the first to exist in the main Earth-616 continuity). She had mystical-based powers, lost them, and then was involved in the Grim Hunt storyline. In that story Julia Carpenter (the second Spider-Woman, who also called herself Arachne, and who inherited the powers of Madame Web) gave Anya her old costume; people seeing her in it called her "Spider-Girl," much to her chagrin, and she adopted the name officially and fought crime despite having no powers and then as has been mentioned she got spider-powers as a result of Spider-Island but kept them for some reason no one has ever bothered to explain.

So, basically, Spider-Girl does have a connection to Spider-Man in that she has a copy of his powers (as opposed to the different powers she had as Araņa), but that's it. Spider-Woman has no real connection to either of them, and the Black Widow, who also is in those panels and has a spider-themed name, has no connection to either of them either (except for how she's an Avenger, along with spider-Woman... and Spider-Man, come to think of it, so I guess that counts).

Dark side and far side aren't the same thing. You're looking at part of a dark side every time the moon isn't full. The more legitimate question is if he's on the dark side of the moon why is the sun right there.

Even for comic books that's a big bit of stupid.

He's on neither the dark nor the far side, though given the positioning of the sun it looks like he just emerged from a lunar eclipse. So there was no dark side of the moon, really. Matter of fact it was all dark.
