Lasting Damage posted:Having driven a standard Focus and then a ST equipped with MFT for around one and a half year, I think I can say it didn't used to be overblown, but definitely is now. It was pretty lovely at first, but there's been several updates since then. The current revision in my ST is completely serviceable, but in the 2012 Focus I drove for a while it was a hot mess at first. Plenty of people also think Windows is "completely serviceable" too.

I can't vouch for the fiesta ST having never driven one but the clio is a bit like a modern 205 in lots of ways, only much, much more capable. I bought it for my girlfriend to drive but now I'm thinking of buying one for just me too, it's that good.

As an Apple fan and someone who does UI and UX for a living, the mft drives me bananas. It also feels like technology from like 5-6 years ago, since it's a resistive touch screen and isn't very responsive. The entire idea that you have to use SCROLL BARS on a touch screen is retarded. Also the source selection screen is annoying, since the sources I usually listen to is on the second screen for no good reason with no way to reorder them. I have it both on my 2013 Escape and my 2014 Fiesta ST. It's slightly better on the Escape because of the larger screen, but it's bad on both.. However having said all that, The ONLY user interface I've seen that is decent on a car is the newer versions of BMW's iDrive system. Really car companies should get out of the business of doing software and let someone else do it. I like Apple's idea of just letting the Phone drive the user interface remotely. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_in_the_Car echobucket fucked around with this message at 19:39 on Nov 19, 2013 |

I wish I had the option of just a panel that displayed the radio station and clock and thats it. The fancy poo poo on there does nothing but complicate the basic poo poo that I do on it.

The number of big manufacturers perusing the technology shows that it has merit. It doesn't sound like it'll completely replace the manufacturers proprietary OS's, just add iOS/app integration on top of the cars own climate/radio/etc functions

My 2010 Mazdaspeed3 in winter gear along with my rally beater from a couple years ago, not quite a hot hatch with just over 100 HP but it was more than 1000 lbs lighter than my Mazda after removing a bunch of stuff. The torquesteer doesn't bother me at all but I do wish that it had a sunroof.

Woo. Purchased a ST1 Focus today. It feels slower than my 09 MS3; but better in every other way so far. Went with the ST1 because I'm cheap and was somewhat wary of the Recaros on long trips and MFT in general. I do wish it had a better stereo though.

Anyone have cold weather issues with the ST? Once it got below 30 or so, the rear motor mount issues became very obvious to me. Starting the car in the morning has been a cringe moment every day. So I'm headed to the dealer first thing Monday morning. And the keyless unlock doesn't work for me when it's cold. I grab the handle, and it does nothing. Then I have to dig the fob out of my pocket and figure out which button is which. Had the car for 8 months, and I don't know which button is which, because I've never needed to. On the plus side, it handled ice pretty well. Even with the stock tires.

Thankfully I just moved to Texas (never thought I'd say that) so cold weather might not be too much of an issue this winter for me. The keyless entry thing not working is the most annoying for me because a lot of the time I'll keep my spare key in a zippered pocket or my backpack.

Speaking of snow, I still have summer tires on mine. Went and grabbed the Miata Wed night to drive in the snow. It had a dead battery yesterday morning, so I took the ST to work. Drive home was a bit tense. Once I got it going, it did pretty well, but getting it going was just idle and slowly let the clutch out. Today I managed to back it away from the corner, but I couldn't get it into the driveway.

I've bought another clio. This one has a load of upgrades like an arb, springs and a blown up engine. It'll be my car for work and track days, hillclimbing etc. Pictures when I've got the aa to drag it home.

I dropped down to spare size which is 15", wheels tires roadhazard all in was like 700 and it came with a 50 dollar gift card. Build it on tire rack, print it out and take it to discount tire and they'll match it. Saved me close to 150 bucks doing it that way over just walking in the store.

Getting my RMMs done on Monday. Dealer was pretty up-front about stuff, all covered under warranty and such. A fuckin truck kicked a lime-sized piece of asphalt into my windshield on an offramp the other day, thank god it was warm enough that it broke apart on contact but now my car has 3,000 miles and a goddamn windshield star on her

How long did it take for the parts to come in? I asked my dealer to order my RMMs in October, and they said they still had 5 other people waiting

uhhhh three days? I went in today for my scheduled maintenance, asked them to look at my windshield and my RMMs and they just called saying it'll be in stock Monday. I probably own the only Focus ST this particular dealer sold this year. My part of town if you're buying a new car you're A) not buying a car, you're buying a truck, and/or B) you're not because you can't afford a new car.

Well, I just registered for the Oct 1st-2nd Octane Academy. This is a once in a lifetime thing for me, because I'd never pay for one of these things myself. Now to figure out the plane tickets and hotel stuff. I pushed the button on their $105 limited liability... Don't know how much that is needed, but I would hate to tear up something on one of the cars and have to pay for it so, whatever.

Luckily I still have my Miata with snows to hold me over, but it's 8F outside and I can't ride my bike, and the Fiesta will have heated recaro's so it's been a long wait. I ordered mine mid November and I just got a call from the dealer today and they said it just shipped out and should be here "sometime in January"

Was going to do the Octane Academy as a vacation to get away from the stress of home and work, but that went out the window when my company notified that I was being let go at the end of this month along with a few others In Focus ST news, for us guys in the parts of the world that get dirt and snow, there is a TSB out to get the handle sensors fixed and covered with sealant since they get clogged and won't respond to human touch.

Dumb question, but my local dealership told me that my RMM (focus st) problem is a transmission issue. That really doesn't make sense to me at all. They also canceled my scheduled appointment as I walked through the door. Awesome.

As long as they do 13-6-10 you're getting the right stuff.

After striking out at the two local dealers who had cars configured close enough to what I wanted but weren't willing to negotiate, I put down a deposit and ordered a 2014 Fiesta ST with the Recaro package and navigation. I'm pretty eagerly awaiting the day I can trade my Prius in.
