Detroit Q. Spider posted:that plus the discs go for good money now i also got wendy carlos's beauty in the beast, not on dvd but just as expensive. i was going to effortpost about it but i got sidetracked and now i don't feel like it, i will say though that it's one of the strongest examples of vision exceeding technology that i can think of. incredible composition and obviously carefully-chosen sounds but even the best mid-'80s sampler is still a mid-'80s sampler and it all sounds dead and dry like jazz from hell or something. that said it's still an extremely smart album and i'm glad that i finally have it.

do they still force you to use the g+ stuff when you use your old yt profile?

yeah i don't know. for a while i had to post under my g+ name but now i don't i guess? its really poorly done. the thing that gets me is they weren't allowing not huge channels to post under a channel name or alias maybe i don't want to tell the idiot shouting about how the n words are ruining music with my real name, google.

finally arrived in the mail today. i was initially skeptical because it's supposed to be the first new age album or some crap like that but it's an absolute goddamn masterpiece. probably the single most immersively atmospheric thing i've ever heard. the liner notes say the original vinyl release was quadrophonic and i can only imagine what it must be like to hear that version. tl;dr:

Sham bam bamina! posted:it's supposed to be the first new age album or some crap like that yeah that's bs. when the record industry 'invented' new age in the 80s they shoveled a lot of hard-to-classify music under the genre that never fit together, stuff like brian eno's ambient, tangerine dream (even old stuff from the 70s), etc along with easy listening stuff like enya and the stereotypical massage soundtracks that got crapped out by the 100s.

#effortpost, hella urls which you should totally click on i got bored, heres my top 25 albums of 2013 cause jesus christ if nothing else it was a good year for music and i felt like spergily ordering them and mentioning everything i particularly enjoyed. hell i removed some stuff i liked but didnt have much to say about in the honorable mentions 1) Danny Brown - Old // almost flawless. 2) Everything Everything - Arc // they're an odd band, but almost all of their tracks resonate with me deeply. wish production was a bit more tight but that's my only gripe. a very time/place album 3) The 1975 - The 1975 // this is how you do a boy band: singing songs about smoking weed and loving chicks 4) Jon Hopkins - Immunity // holy poo poo this is how you do modern sounding techno, the album has a fantastic progression 5) Darkside - Psychic // impeccable fusion of electronic and real instrumentation 6) Snakadaktal - Sleep in the Water // it's a weird album, i can't really pick songs out as standouts but as a whole i love it 7) gently caress Buttons - Slow Focus // a journey in beautiful noise, yo 8) Dpat - Blurry // you guys all really need to check out the soulection label, this is probably the best of that this year 9) Kanye West - Yeezus // man i really dunno. i love this album, especially production-wise, but there's some real bad lyrics but it's just a phenomenal experience 10) Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest // yo it's a new boc album. and it's good! 11) Radical Redemption - The Spell of Sin // i dont even know how to describe hardstyle albums to you guys. this album is just loving evil. it's 28 tracks long and while some of the filler could be cut it's mostly quality brutal pounding stuff 12) Forest Swords - Engravings // hard not to compare this and darkside's album. it's quite unique though, and i really enjoyed it 13) Ta-ku - Songs To Break Up To // guy knows how to make beautiful beats, and evokes some feelings given this loving lovely year 14) Oneohtrix Point Never - R Plus Seven // yospos.mp4. computer soundscapes but just simply astounding and immersive i guess 15) Death Grips - Government Plates // jesus christ what is going on. i, unlike everyone else, liked no love deep web, but this takes it to a whole nother level 16) Moderat - II // yo modeselektor and apparat made another album together. spoilers: its real good 17) Various - AČ Records - Unleashed Once Again // again, rough hardstyle. more accessible, but still some fantastic slamming poo poo for crazy, drug-addled europeans/australians 18) Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels // i feel like this is among the most cohesive rap albums i've heard in a long time. it has its own signature and style and also manages to bang 19) Om Unit - Threads // hard to describe this but its some real good bass music 20) Daft Punk - Random Access Memories // this album has some loving issues. it's way too far up its own rear end and completely unaware of itself. that said, most of the tracks are great stuff 21) A$AP Rocky - Long.Live.A$AP // the production on the majority of this album is top notch with great, catchy verses 22) Laurel Halo - Chance of Rain // i have a crush on laurel halo 23) Spark Master Tape - The #SWOUP Serengeti // an overall superb, schizophrenic (in a good way?) album. with some more focus, spark is gonna be a force 24) Machinedrum - Vapor City // its fuckin' machinedrum, what else do you need get on it jfc 25) Audiofreq - Audioception // very diverse hard electronic album, everything doesnt hit completely, but does more often than not honorable mentions: 7 days of funk - 7 days of funk (snoop making good stuff in 2013?!), !!! - thr!!!er (a pretty decent lcd soundsystem successor), david bowie - the next day (bowie is back), denzel curry - nostalgic 64 (real good talent, his sophmore album will be something to look forward to imo), gesaffelstein - aleph (such an odd, disjointed album with some great highlights), ghost - infestissumam (thanks yospos for introducing me to them. satanic rock lives), iamnobodi - elevated (more soulection, good beats), holy ghost! - dynamics (borrows so much from existing artists but man i can't hate it for that, it really nails what its going for), ophidian - between the candle and the stars (i really slacked on my hardcore [edm, not metal or whatever] in 2013, need to listen to this more) not albums but rad: burial - rival dealer (among the best burial has put out), boys noize - go hard (actual good mainstream edm?!), flume & chet faker - lockjaw ep (beautiful vox from chet faker, productions are top notch and reall interesting), dj rashad - rollin ep (juke/footwork has never been this good), laurel halo - behind the green door (best laurel halo release imo), m|o|o|n - day/night (yes, i got introduced through hotline miami. this is probably better than that ep), rustie - triadzz/slasherr (im not sure why i like this but i really do) tell me how much of a dumb idiot i am or dont idc i needed to post it somewhere Miley Virus fucked around with this message at 18:35 on Jan 3, 2014 |
