I just signed up for the GGS, but my steam is http://steamcommunity.com/id/meksivik/ if anyone wants to add me for some games. I've mostly been losing games against the computer as MA R'lyeh. I still need to find a faction that clicks for me.

MR is important because it allows your opponent to easily circumvent all of your other defenses with nasty save-or-die/save-or-suck wizard bullshit. Lilli used to have a guide up to thugs/SCs, but it seems to have gone down with the Dom3 wiki.

The major changes are that resistance no longer is a percentage, so it is difficult to be immune to the nastier magics, and luck has been completely reworked. Probably some others, but in general the advice is still as good as it always was. There was another guide, I think, but the gist of that one was basically to try and get your thugs down to as cheap as possible and don't cry when they die horribly (because they will eventually.)

A Flesh Eater axe obviously has a high chance of missing, and can be repelled even if it hits. In Dom3 area fire from a weapon was dodged by mirror image. Does ignore defence value though. e: I should add that Mirror Image is bullshit. It used to let you dodge arrows. It still dodges blood vengeance retaliation. I would not be surprised if at some point it let you dodge fear, as fear used to be an attack. Either way, most weapon secondary effects can be dodged. In terms of improving your dude vs pony thugs, the main thing is either quickness boots (double your chances to hit them) or flying shoes (hit them while they're buffing using attack cavalry or something). You can probably improve on the armor (jade armor if you've gone with flying shoes, for example), and I'm unsure as to whether charcoal shield will kill glamour or not but it's worth testing in single player. e: also for anti-thug that don't concern with PD or armies, going dual wield is typical, although often you have to hack through PD to get to the thug so the shield helps with that and honestly dual wielding is a bit overrated considering how powerful shield effects are. Is there a place to manually download the 4.04 patch? The manual download versions on Desura are still at 4.03. I use the manual installations because I don't want to faff about with a proprietary client for literally one game that I will buy from them ever. Sorry for using the word manual so many times in this post.

For games in progress, is there some proper protocol for updating to a new version? Or is it simply not practical / possible at all?

I was going to post here about getting GGS approval, but looks like someone already gave it. You guys are fast. So I'll ask this instead: Besides MA Ermor and Lemuria, is there really anyone worth 2 or more death scales on? It kind of seems like a bad idea for pretty much everyone to me.

So a question on fatigue. I'm looking at spells that costs say 200 or 300 fatigue. I'm assuming to cast that I need to get the fatigue cost down to 100 or less, meaning either a caster that is two levels higher than the base requirement or a communion, right? Or is it possible to cast a spell that will bump Fatigue up to above 200? or is there a limit in how far over cap you can go?

With the sale today I finally managed to convince a bunch of my friends to pick up this game but half of them don't have SA accounts so I guess GGS is out for us. I'm having some trouble wrapping my head around the other options (Dom4Minions, Llamaserver, etc) and the hosting script pastebin in the OP is dead. Is anyone familiar with them that can compare their features and ease of use?

The move is illegal, but within mapmove when accounting for terrain restrictions and abilities. It might be better to explain it as: If the target adjacent-across-unfrozen-river province was within the army's mapmove accounting for terrain & abilities & the unfrozen river, then even though the river is unfrozen the army can attack across it. This might be a bridge 1 or 2 provinces away, or different river connection that is frozen 1 or 2 provinces away, etc.

I almost want to say that they should expand that to work without needing the river and turn it into a feature rather than a bug, but I guess it would dramatically expand the range of at-risk provinces and make intercepting enemy armies even more of a guessing game.

Even with the bug, you still could only attack adjacent provinces. The bug was that one adjacent connection over the unfrozen river was enabled thanks to said adjacent province being in movement range, when it should have remained disabled since the river is not frozen and also since the province is enemy held and therefore an illegal non-attack movement destination anyway. If you mean expand it to allow armies to attack anything in move range, Flying is the ability that enables that currently. I don't think it would be a drastically different game, certainly armies would have a larger threat range and would end up cut off more often, but it would also enable you to cancel an enemy attack in the magic phase by taking the province it was moving across. Right now you can only do this to cancel normal movement.
