Normally I hate stupid cold air intakes, but apparently the stock intake on my Fiesta ST muffles the choo choo turbo noise, which frankly for me is half the fun of a turbo car. Would this be an obscene waste of my $300? The build quality seems solid and it makes an excellent sound in the video, but I have never heard of FSWERKS. I figure a less restrictive intake on a turbo can never hurt though.

If you are looking at spending $300 would it be worth going the whole hog for the Mountune Kit? It's meant to but very good and covered by the factory warranty... it's £599 in the UK so I'm not sure how that will translate across the Atlantic (I couldn't find any costs with a quick phone google).

The FSWerks CAI is pretty good, though it doesn't really deliver any power gains (until you start adding on other parts and get a tune). This is based off of what people say on FocusST.org. Plus, the FSWerks guys are usually pretty active on that forum as well.

I used to have a 2008 full size Prius and it was not fun to drive at all. It really felt like driving a marshmallow. It would wallow around corners and although it had a lot of off the line torque (electric motor torque yay), it didn't have much power at all and felt sluggish most of the time. Just wondering what this Toyota Hybrid feels like...

Dear diary, I got another erection today at work. SO embarrassing, but kinda hot. The CO asked me to fix up his dress uniform. I had stayed late at work to move his badges 1/8" to the left and pointed it out this morning. 1SG spanked me while the CO watched, once they caught it. Tomorrow I get to start all over again...
Here is some actualy hot hatchiness to get this thread back in the good direction it was once going. Sorry prius bro.

Fresh wash a few months ago

Clean base Focus ST interior

I've since debadged it of the "Focus" badge and yes I've gotten rid of the stupid dealer plate holder as well. Shown is the MRT axle back exhaust. I don't really care about power gains and am probably not going to tune it either, I just wanted a little more out of the stock sound. This sounds good without trying too hard.

Fresh wash right after I got it. This appears also on the first page of this thread.

Same set as the one above it. Right after I got it.

I'm debating trading my Grand Cherokee in on a Fiesta ST but I'm concerned about interior space. Do those of you here that own one ever feel cramped? I need to make sure I can take the car on a road trip for a couple days with two suitcases in the rear hatch and enough room for two people and a 75lb dog.

The actual trunk would fit two suitcases no problem - but do you mean two people in the back and a dog or just two people in front and a dog in the back? If the latter it would be easily doable. The back seat is small but easily would fit two full sized adults - 3 in the back might be a squeeze. If you get one, get the recaro package - absolutely worth it. Just go to any ford dealer and sit in one. I personally find it perfect for my needs, more than enough space and 5 doors. The car itself is incredible, handling is excellent, power is more than I expected, and the interior and tech rules. I've gotten about ~28mpg on average in the few weeks I've owned it. Takes 91+ gas.

jfreder
Feb 27, 2008
I'm not sure I would say the back seats fit two adults "easily" and I wouldn't make three people sit back there except in an emergency. The roof is low and there is very little leg room. If you just need to put a dog back there, then it should be fine.

I thought about that. I like the look and size of the Focus, but MSRP with the options I want is 29k. For that money I'd just buy a WRX. The Fiesta is appealing because I can get one for 24k with similar options and it'll hopefully return around 30mpg. Of course I'd hope it would come in closer to invoice price after negotiations. Also I really like how externally small it is since parking my Jeep in LA gets annoying at times. Not to mention my 12mpg average.

Voltage posted:

Two people in front and one dog in back. Plus some suitcases. I sat in a Fiesta ST this weekend at Galpin Ford and it felt small, but I couldn't tell if it's because I stepped out of a Grand Cherokee and into the smallest car Ford makes. The salesman had no desire to let me actually play with the car. And he was being difficult about me test driving it. He wanted to "start the process" before I could turn the car on, so I highly doubt he'll let me bring my dog for a test fitting. (which Mitsubishi let me do with an Evo X, so come on Ford....)

I'm just afraid I'll make the swap and then hate how small it is right after.

IOwnCalculus
Apr 2, 2003

If size is your concern - see if they'll let you test it on a regular Fiesta? I can't imagine anything about the ST's seats would change whether or not you can get a dog in them.

I got my Fiesta about two weeks ago. My 45lb dog fits in the back with room enough for a few other dogs. Unless your pooch is particularly leggy and tall (and doesn't lay down on long rides), there won't be a problem.

Its definitely small, but very comfortable and fun to drive. My old car was about the same size, but the Fiesta has better ergonomics that make it bigger feeling once you're used to it.

xsf421
Feb 17, 2011

I drive a non-ST Fiesta, and it's definitely not a car you want to buy if you're worried about feeling cramped. I've driven with four full-sized adults in it, and it was definitely not very comfortable for anyone. Two plus a dog might work, but the dog will need to have some pretty good manners. I love my car, but there's no getting around how small it is.

It's funny seeing people say the Fiesta is so small. I know it's a small car, but I daily drove my Miata for the past year, so going to the ST was like getting an Escalade for me, it seems downright massive. I now have 2 extra doors, 3 extra seats and an actual hatch back! It feels like I could fit everything I own inside it.

I suppose for 99% of people the Fiesta feels small, but it's funny how much your perspective can change depending on what you're used to. I guess if you've been used to a Grand Cherokee the Fiesta is going to seem like a clown car.

I say give it a shot, I don't want to sound preachy but I'm betting most people don't need such large cars, I'm sure you would adapt to it just fine, and the turbo will make you not care about the space concerns anyway.

This is right on the nose, I've gotten an average of 28mpg in the 3 weeks I've owned it, with a pretty even mix of city and highway, driving rather hard. If I babbied it I could easily get mid 30's since it has a fairly tall 6th gear.
