To be fair the tournament finals are still 2 days away (on break? giving Sei time to make repairs) so its understandable that Sei and his dad wouldn't expect the store to close that early for her to come cheer.

Random Hobo teaches you how to build Gunpla, and your first test battle is interrupted by the Gunpla Mafia? Yeah, that is a Tuesday in the world of build fighters. I especially love the mafia guy because there was absolutely nothing at stake, he just wanted to beat up Reiji.

Also, this episode kind of confirms my earlier guess that Alia was probably homeless before she was taken in to gunpla battle, what with the whole sleeping on a bench thing.

I almost feel the whole "Aila was a street urchin" angle feels too... obvious. Sure it fits the usual Cyber-Newtype motif, but I can't help but think/hope they'll do something different with it and this is just a red herring.

Also, I guess this is the last(?) we'll see of Mr. Clamp, I wonder who the next old friend of Ral's to show up will be. Maybe Hamon? :haw:

One thing I have to say about this show is that its... refreshing to see how positive it is. In another show Reiji and Alia would have 5-10 minutes of screentime together in one episode, then spend the rest of the series attempting to murder one another. While I don't doubt there is going to be conflict its nice to see people being happy in a Gundam show.

Rest of the series? She'd be dead by like the end of the episode and banished to the Newtype Ghost dimension.

This is true, any other series would do the whole awkward tsundere thing for 3, maybe 4 episodes then she'd get killed off by some random guy to piss off Reiji, probably Gunpla Mafia man

Well it depends on the series, Flay had a pretty decent run before her murder, as have some of the unicorn girls. If this was Victory she'd be dead, along with two other vaugely related female pilots.

It's this poo poo that ups Build Fighters from a great Gundam show to my new favorite. I have to watch the episode 2-3 times to catch poo poo like this, but its just such a love letter to the franchise as a whole that it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

It is nice that aside from the episode 4 Kirara weirdness, which the show seems to have played off as a good thing, this series has a very positive view of women in general. The girls aren't victims there to be beaten up to show how manly the protagonists are, hell, this episode had the show's co-lead getting saved by an extremely competent female pilot.

Only this show could make a three minute Gunpla tutorial both hardcore and pretty damned interesting. I'm going to be honest, I want a 52 episode series. I want Zeta Gundam Build Fighters once that is done.

Honestly a lot of the tips mentioned won't really change that much. Even if you cut the sprue twice, you're still going to end up with a nub you have to sand. Cotton swabs reduce the amount of skin oil/dead skin that comes in contact with the foil sticker, but that just makes them easier to remove, not necessarily better looking.

You totally have to make sure you don't forget the polycap though. :v:

I know nubs are unavoidable. It's the damaged parts from using sub-optimal cutters (Citadel sprue cutters) and cutting too close that bug me.

My 00 Qan has one cheek shorter than the other because of that. :gibs:

I really hope they decide to keep this show running. They create more affordable plavsky podiums so that more people have them at home, enabling them to have more people playing at once... for fleet combat. The first episode this season Sei dreams hes launching from a ship which was cool, we've already seen someone in a Gau during the battle royale ferrying other players. Game modes where you have to defend a colony or destroy one. Escort missions gone horribly wrong. Capture the drat flag. Gunpla gangs trying to gank well known players.

Sei, Reiji and Aila, Fellini and a few choice all stars form a team, have wacky adventures on the side.

Anyways... I want to pick the soundtrack up when it comes out. This show rocks.

He fails to see that in the show being so upfront and honest about its aims from the get go, it has more time to actually put together a fun show. He's missing out, I'm having a blast, this show is awesome.

The fact that she recalled it after seeing a mom buying something for their kid makes me think maybe her mom abandoned her or died while she was in a public train station or wherever that was in her flashback. Sounds a little dark for this show though. Then again, whatever it was is going to be somewhat dark regardless.

All the reporters with faces were based on other characters. The blonde was Fran Doll from Turn-A, the black-haired woman next to her was Kinue Crossroad from 00 and the male reporter was a fellow 00 cameo, Ikeda.

As for the episode, that was a great filler/breather episode. Takeshi is clearly where Sei gets his goofy Gunpla side from. The cameos and references were hilarious, from Side 6 to Axis (I think) to the whole Gunpla building. God, this show is amazing.

Sunrise, do not let this show's staff go after GBF ends. That is all.

The series staff are all Sunrise & Gundam regulars, they aren't going anywhere unless they want to. They are bringing in some not-actually-Sunrise-but-work-on-a-ton-of-mecha-shows guys to do mecha animation direction & KA but that always happens on shows like Gundam, although possibly not on this scale.

GBF is basically what happens when you let these guys off the leash instead of forcing them to stick to a rigidly defined executive script and it is wonderful.

They can probably animate the mech itself; the Ex-S is in the video game Extreme VS Full Boost, but it doesn't have a pilot that goes with it. Crossbones and pilots are also in the game.

This is completely random, but if Jaburo ever gets used as a Gunpla Battle Stage ("Stage X Cavern"?) the episode needs to just play Ai Senshi/Soldiers of Sorrow as background music the whole bloody time. Too many Gundam video games have fused the two together in my mind, Ai Senshi must play if you're at Jaburo, they just play it 24/7 over the PA.
