No, but look at the new mobile share plans to see if they can save you anything.

ATT is matching by offering anyone in contract the ability to get another new phone via Next. Hell, if you were in contract and wanted to get out to have a lower plan, you can get a phone via next, sell it, then use that to pay off the phone. It would be full price, so I'm not sure of the iPhone would be the best way to try that.

Do you use that much data? The mobile share 10GB is $30 less and would be more comparable price wise. Otherwise some of it depends on when her line goes out of contract. Also, do you have a discount? Discounts will go off of the voice and unlimited data plan on your old plan, goes off of the $130 with the mobile share.

Where did the feature phone in the old plan go with the mobile share? FYI feature phones are $20 a month on mobile share, not $10.

There is no feature phone, the family plan is $60 for the first line and $9.99 for each additional. At least that's how it is on my bill.

My wife's phone won't be off contract until January 2015.

Yes, we do use that much data. I regularly use 5+ GB on my phone and 2-3 GB on my tablet. My wife tends to come close to her 3GB limit every month on the phone, but nowhere near that on her tablet. I totaled it up and I estimated we use as much as 12.5GB per month.

That's the funny thing about having unlimited data, I have no hesitation switching to LTE if the Wi-Fi is slow or unreliable, because the LTE is probably faster even under the best Wi-Fi conditions. I've had the unlimited plan since I was in college and on my dad's family plan, and for some reason my unlimited data plan has survived being transferred from an iPhone to an Android device, from my dad's family plan to my mom's new family plan when my dad died, and from my mom's plan to my own new plan after I got married.

Would some one like to verify my math here?

A 4GB 'mobile share value' plan with a 13% discount, two phones in contract, one phone out of contract, and a tablet:

(70×.87)+40+40+25+10 = $175.90 ???

Right now we have the same on "Mobile Share 6GB" plan and it comes out to $201.21 each month. Most months we use well under 2GB of data combined.

This looks correct and usually the share value will end up working out better with 2 people. Id switch to it.

Hey all, my wife and I are on GoPhone right now with the $60 plan ($54/month with no tax through callingmart.com) and my coworker just informed me that they reworked the mobile share plans and that our corporate discount even applies to the whole bill rather than just the base cost piece. Can someone confirm that this is true or not? The economics for switching to the no-contract mobile share plan would dramatically shift it were true and would be slightly more expensive ($53 + taxes with 20% discount) to go to the mobile share but I'd get tethering for my iPad which is a nice perk.

We'd be looking at the 4GB plan to replicate our current 2GBs each.

See the above math, the discount only applies to the base ($70 a month), so it's $70 - $14 + $25 + $25 = $106.

It really varies state to state. I usually tell people about 15% to cover taxes and fees.

Also, my manager just approved me to give away digital life. Free. So, pm me if you want more info. I probably can't sell you one, but you will make a rep happy if I convince you to buy one.

Anything juicy to give for people to stick around? I'm on grandfathered unlimited data, recently used a device upgrade, and I'm generally satisfied but have been leaning toward a switch to T-Mobile because of tethering, international roaming, and the fact that T-Mobile will pay for me to buy out my AT&T iPhone 5S contract and own it in full (I have a cheap old smartphone I'm prepared to trade to TMO in its stead, so I could easily pocket some good cash during a switch).

I don't have any real ideological problem sticking around as a customer and AT&T has been pretty good to me in the past, but doing a switch gets me out of contract and makes me some money while leaving me on a way better plan so it's getting hard to stay.

Wow, I guess TMobile was right "either things will radically change or we'll win". It's nice that finally we are seeing some movement in the wireless space.

I think people are pretty happy with their phones (and on the GS3 you can buy replacement batteries for like $30 so they could stay new forever) so I think we might start seeing real aggressive push back on the prices once people realize they were paying every month to get a $700 phone for $200. I don't run into anyone with a GS3 era phone that calls the phone a "piece of poo poo" after a year of use like they always did with every non-iPhone smartphone before that.

That and a $299 Custom Moto X (sale price coming soon), $179 Moto G, $80 Lumia 521 really makes the subsidy model look pretty silly.

The best you will get is you will be eligible for Next after 6 months on contract. Honestly, AT&T is doing better than normal on offering promos to current customers, but it's Def oriented towards the Next and new mobile share plans. I would Def emphasize that most promos won't really be focused on keeping unlimited data, although at least you get to keep the plan as long as you want.

Beefstorm I am pretty sure the digital life thing is a region wide promo at least, we had the same thing (free equipment on digital life smart security ) sent down to us today as well. Maybe I can actually sell one now.

Tomorrow I'm upgrading my Galaxy S3 yo either a Moto X or a S4. Can't decide which yet.

Which one of the two is better for rooting purposes? I see that Moto X has a more vanilla android, and S4 has touchwis(which I hate). Touchwiz isn't a problem though if the S4 has a good root community and I can install ASOP ROMs. Any advice here is appreciated.

For the ATT guys:

So, over on XDA people are talking about the whole T-Mobile thing. One guy claimed he told the reps that he rarely uses any minutes on his plan (450 nation) and wanted to know if there was anything they could do to lower his bill and they were able to put his minute plan on a lower cost 300 plan which ended up being $20 less. He was also given 6 months of texting free.

When i called ATT CS, they said there is no such thing as a 300 minute plan. Just wanted to know if you guys can confirm or deny it.

I hardly use my minutes and would gladly trade down on talk time for increased data if possible.

There is a plan that is Senior Nation 200. It is 200 minutes, 500 N&W and $29.99 a month. No rollover. Technically you must be 65 or older to have it. But in retention cases, they will put it on for you.

Recently, my mother bought an AT&T Lumia 520 for her nephew and sent it overseas thinking they could unlock it there. They can, but it's kind of expensive, relatively speaking. So I'm thinking that in a few weeks when we hit the 60 days with AT&T mark, I can just unlock it through AT&T's official online thing with the IMEI. The only problem I can see is that there's never been an AT&T sim card inside. But that shouldn't affect it, right?

How does the FAN discount work with the new Mobile Share value plans? Is it better to keep my current 450 Nation + 300 megs data (no texting)? I dont really text alot, i use google Voice for that, but having it as part of my normal phone number would be nice. With my current set up im paying $58.18 per month.

Also: Beefstorm, sorry i forgot to thank you for info before, so Thank you!

Edit: Looking over some stuff, it seems the 450 nation plan might be worth keeping since the 3 gig data option is a lot cheaper than going with any of the value plans if i decide to up my data.
