The thing we just learned is that April went out with Perd, and that is quite a surprise!

If that was a series finale, it would be a good one.

Ehhh, I wasn't a big fan of this episode but it suffered coming after an almost identical episode of Community.

That final parting between Leslie and Ann Also that final shot at the very end was weird. The thing with Ron a few episodes ago and the headphones didn't bother me but that big panning camera shot at the end overlooking the town broke the documentary style camera work TOO much

I'm usually a sucker for these kind of episodes but I just didn't really feel any emotion throughout. I guess Ann was my least favourite character, but Chris was awesome. I expected too much

I absolutely loved this episode start to finish. Chris getting his new buddy box for the kid, April and Ann's moment, all things Ann and Leslie- all the feels! And as usual, Andy was goddamn hilarious. "Have fun in Mexico!"

It was tough for me to get really into it since I liked Ann and Chris at the outset but really felt they'd been around too long, so I had a bit too much relief. If this were season 4 though I'd have blubbered like a fool.

Macaluso posted:That final parting between Leslie and Ann This show isn't reeeeeeally a mockumentary anymore (if it ever was). Edit: that is to say, the style doesn't really mean anything important for Parks and Recreation (unlike The Office). It's always been a little loose. Parks uses the format more because it's a kind of structural shorthand Mike Schur got comfortable with while he wrote for The Office, and TV audiences picked up the language while they watched The Office. quote:AVC: What sort of inspiration do you continue to draw from the mockumentary format? emgeejay fucked around with this message at 07:18 on Jan 31, 2014 |

Now I only gotta figure out what happened to Nick and I can watch the second season of the Wire without tears. Frank apparently came back to life first. Ziggy just got out of prison by agreeing to join the Marines which is absolutely believable. I'm getting more uncomfortable with them renewing Parks and Rec as this season becomes a clear farewell season.

I like to imagine what few talk to the camera segments they do now are more soliloquies than anything else.

It's still clearly a mockumentary with plenty of direct references to the camera. But Parks and Rec lives in cartoon world so who gives a folk about the rhyme and reason for a documentary that's been going on for so long.

I still wish they'd just completely drop the mockumentary framework altogether. It annoyed me so much when an entire season's main arc was Leslie and Ben's super secret relationship and how bad it was if ANYBODY found out, but they're regularly talking to the cameras about it. Plus, somehow that clichéd camera work and talking heads just disgusts me. I hate the look of it. I hate the fakeness. I cannot bring myself to give that Brooklyn 9-9 a chance because it looks so blech.

Since Parks and Rec is my go-to show to put on when I'm bored or dicking around the house I've realized the best joke in the entire show doesn't come from the regular cast. Season 3 ep 11 Jerry's Painting. Leslie's on Perd's show with Brandi Maxx discussing what is/is not pornographic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWQIw95pq4M Perd: Brandi how would you define pornography? Brandi: For me it's when the penis goes in. Perd: ... Leslie: .... It's so perfect. Also, they're not doing mockumentary style anymore. The actors aren't told to acknowledge the camera they do or do not completely on their own.
