This is a great show and I don't read comic books. Also, am I a sucker for shedding a few tears during few scenes this season? I know, I'm a crybaby and this show is kind of corny but somehow it just... works. :psyduck: Also loving the "one liners" and ridiculous dialogue at times. I laughed way too much at the dialogue where Oliver asks how Laurel is doing, Laurel tells him to stop and... He asks it again in a completely deadpan manner. I only realized what happened when Laurel was disdained about it. Yeah, I think I was tired but that made it perfect. (I can't remember which episode since I marathoned this season, pretty much).

Also, am I the only one surprised that Star...Starlington? City is supposed to have a population of 600 000 with that skyline. Then I saw the picture about Vancouver and the shooting locations and checked wikipedia. Oh. :aaa: - Though the metropolitan area is obviously more populous. (In retrospect I've been surprised at the population counts of many major cities over-represented in popular media - American media just has that much spread over the world - though Rust Belt and post-industrialization has a factor in it). - Wait, didn't the city used to have a more flourishing industrial sector? In fact Oliver's night club and... Wow. :aaaaa:

In fairness, the population thing could just be like metropolitan vs city limits kind if thing. For example, I live in KC, population is like 400k, but metropolitan area is over 2m.

The Atlas of DC isn't so much a bible as it is the thing that any writer violates if he's feeling like it. Metropolis usually bounces somewhere in New england, though others have thrown it into Kansas, thanks to Smallville.

I've always considered Arrow's Star City to basically be Vancouver.

It's about time for my once per decade ban for being a consistently terrible poster.
The problem there is that super-heroes don't really give a gently caress about places not America, and of course it wouldn't be weird for Oliver to be a socialist in Canada.

Nightwing relocated to Chicago not long back in the comics.

Gotham and Metropolis are supposed to be either side of Delaware Bay, Gotham on the New Jersey side.

None of them are 100%, but it's generally Jersey and New York as people said. Star [Starling is a tv thing] City is ridiculous though, it's been all over the place. Not even just "East or West Coast", but it's been near the Great Lakes. It's been said to be in Massachusetts and Connecticut [In one comic where Superman is flying above the real world, he sees that Star City has been replaced by Boston]. The last time it was mentioned it was in Northern California. Of course as far as the comics are concerned now, Oliver Queen is just in Seattle and there is no Star City.

As far as Starling City is concerned, it's in America. What part of America? The American part :colbert:

All the DC cities have been all over the united States already, because their surroundings are determined according to story, not geography. Kind of like Springfield.

Additionally, you have all this legends and meta stuff, i.e. that Metropolis is New York during the day and Gotham is New York during the night.

The DCAU did it best. Gotham was the city of yesterday. That is why you have gangsters with tommyguns, telegrams, and lots of 20ish aesthetics. Then you have Metropolis. It is the city of tommorow. It has much better technology and looks like a city out of the world fair. It really sets the tone for the two shows.

Yeah, if I had to put money I'd probably put Starling City as a Seattle analogue... though I don't know if Seattle has a lovely part as bad as the glades.

Couple of things... After a stretch of inactivity I'm shirtless in almost every episode for the rest of the season. Next, there was an incident filming where I scratched my arm / armpit on a tree branch. That meant we were going to be applying makeup because this cut didn't match the shows continuity, so I trimmed my armpit hair on one side. Then I didn't want to look like the guy with one trimmed armpit. So I did the other one. Then we blasted it with light and now I'm the guy who shaves his armpits and I HATE the guy who shaves his armpits. My SINCEREST apologies. It grew back.

It's interesting just how much lower his body fat appears to be now (this many episodes into the season) as opposed to the first shirtless scene back after the holiday break. He certainly doesn't slouch.

I'm still kind of annoyed that we don't get a CCH Pounder Amanda Waller but this Cynthia Addai-Robinson is growing on me a bit. Maybe when she turns into the maybe-sorta-kinda antagonist next season or something I'll get over it.

She was a pretty good maybe-sorta-kinda antagonist in the last season of Spartacus. You should watch that show and see what she can do.

Oh, I almost forgot, this episode once again proves that its still a bad idea to go into anything involving law enforcement or government work in Starling City, especially if you're an inept prison guard (turning your back on a dangerous prisoner while leaving the cell door open, great idea!). I think they said Black Dynamite killed 10 guards on his way out of prison? Taking into account the dead FEMA drivers right at the start of the season we could up to 20 people dead.
