mad.radhu posted:(i'm well aware of nonavailability, this is a subtle hint to monetize the video game) It's not a game right now, is the thing, and Kairo is seriously ultra-loving cool for recognizing that in an industry where charging money for blatantly unfinished product is increasingly a fine and totally okay thing to do because the demographic of "gamers" generally has such poor impulse control they make IRL drug addicts look like Mormon missionaries. If anyone wants to help this game they should tell their friends, and tell their friends to tell their friends because that kind of word of mouth is GOLD for small time indie media types like Kairo. If anyone ITT does not have friends, well, there's a thing to work on until such time as Enemy Starfighter reaches a feature-locked beta when I'm sure it'll get monetized to everyone's satisfaction because holy poo poo have you seen this game? for real. the clouds. the shimmer on the universe during jump drive effects. gently caress. I don't really like the way the clouds look. They seem very atmospheric (as in occurring in atmosphere) rather than nebulous (as in a nebula). I will say they look better when scaled up; the effect is most noticeable on the small, puffy ones. I also think I might prefer the flat gradient background color to the more mottled look? That one is a lot more subtle, though, and very hard to judge from these small images. These are fairly minor complaints, though! I love everything else I've seen of the aesthetics.

Yeah, I was actually also going to post that I prefer the smooth background. I like the cleaner look and it helps the sense of scale when background detail is left more to the imagination.

What is the method of planetary extermination preferred by the Penitent Crusade, anyway? It wouldn't happen to be something like Low Orbit Atmosphere Deprivation Weapons, would it? Now that'd be an escort mission with a satisfying climax.

We don't know. The dev posts here pretty regularly, so presumably he'll tell us once he has a confident estimate. Until then we got more livestreams

The Homeworld OST on CD that came with the GOTY edition started my love of progressive rock. I was listening to the last track, Yes - Homeworld (The Ladder) when my dad walked past my bedroom. He stopped and asked what I was listening to, and when I told him he gave me the weirdest look. An hour later he came back from the garage with an old turntable and his collection of Yes records.

Since I'm sitting in this thread listening to the embedded video with the Yes song and browsing this blog, I figured I might as well link it in case people like the whole color scheme/Chris Foss aesthetic this game (and Homeworld) have got gong on, since the blog posts a lot of stuff from Foss and similar artists like John Berkey and by people who are inspired by them. Cool stuff if you like spaceships and colors that aren't gray and black and sometimes, if you're lucky, off-white.
