Also, his hand to hand is probably pretty bad rear end. I dislike you selling his skills short. Especially since Nyssa et al seem to use PLOTPOWERS more than what you're suggesting. You can't have him be as strong as Ollie or the whole mythos breaks down. I'm sure he'll be great leading the Suicide Squad, but it'd be a huge misstep for the show to use him on equal footing with the supervillains Ollie's been fighting this season. In comic book media, military training is never as good as mysterious ancient martial arts training, or super soldier serums, especially when there's no costume involved.

The last we saw Gold was when Arrow shot that thing of chemicals onto him, which he assumed killed him. I guess his success rate isn't 100% against them, but he did beat all three at some point.

Supernatural and Twilight both have had fandoms harass actual people via death threats and "bite me on my neck RPattz please!" and the like. Dudes posting about really liking one couple over another on Arrow pales pretty severely in comparison.

Drifter posted:Yesss. I avoid all the spoilers and synopsis of future things, but that's good to hear. The writers seem to be focusing miniarcs of a few episodes that focus on each of the supporting characters this season which is probably the only way they can do things with the size of the cast and the stories they want to tell. It leads yo some characters either missing from or having really minor roles in episodes it's the only way to fit everything in. They've mentioned several times that they have to cut scenes out of most episodes to fit the time crunch. Deadpool posted:Stop talking about shipping in this thread. So what are your guys' thoughts on the political plot that's developing in the show? At first I was pretty steamed about how, once again, comic-book plot dictates that the progressive, populist guy is actually an evil pawn for an even eviler man, thus making Moira Queen the 'right' candidate despite also being an evil oligarch (who helped get the city in the mess they're currently in ). But the last episode showcasing Ollie's very visceral reaction to his mother's continuous lying has given me some hope that she'll see some ramifications for her actions. Really, my hope is that both of them lose out to some dark horse candidate because as it stands now Star City's left to choose between a nice guy who says nice things, but is backed by evil rich people, and a rich woman who has done evil things and refuses to even acknowledge them as all that evil. I mean, it's heavily implied that the reason Moira's being asked to run is because Blood will usher in some non-business class friendly legislation, which has got the financiers shaking in their boots. Is this some sort of stark commentary on America's current political state or should I just go back to turning off my mind.

It feels like it's a little too early to judge the plot, but it is interesting. We know that Blood is an outright villain, but Moira is not - and never really has been - a good person. She's always been pretty connected to some dark poo poo, and more than willing to take advantage of it. She's not an outright villain like Blood or Merlyn, but that's not much better. I just hope this propels Ollie into his crazy socialist politics.

But the last episode showcasing Ollie's very visceral reaction to his mother's continuous lying has given me some hope that she'll see some ramifications for her actions. I don't know, it's weird when you look at what's going on with Ollie, in that he despises his mom for lying and being corrupt and disingenuous or whatever, but is still very ready and willing to deceive the citizens of the city by supporting Moira. What a douche. The only ramifications that will come to pass for Moira will be through underground, shady characters. Merlyn'll come back, Slade'll threaten her somehow, but she'll probably never have city-wide recognition for her duplicity. I really do doubt that the Arrow writers are putting it together to be somehow analogous commentary to the real world like you're hoping. They seem to thrive on the plot contrivances like a seriously lovely police force and an invisible citizenry.
