Just got home from Dilla Day Detroit. Quite a lineup. Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Phife Dawg, Pete Rock & DJ Premier, Slum Village and De La Soul. Overall it was a good show, although it is becoming bigger and bigger. Which is good and bad. In previous years, General admission meant just that. You can go anywhere you want in the venue. I expected the same this year. Turns out they split Gen Admission between floor and balcony and I unknowingly picked the Balcony tix. I have always been a front and center guy, so that kind of bummed me out. But it was my first time seeing De La Soul live, so that definitely made up for it. And seeing Preemo and Pete Rock in the flesh was just amazing.

The Mahdi - The Underachievers is probably the standout track from the Underachievers first mixtape. Has a real 93 Til Infinity vibe to it, imo.

Also he can spit, someone brought up recently how he'll start a great verse then drift on to something else, that used to be my biggest complaint but I kinda like it now it's accentuates the good parts a lot more and makes his music more quotable. The beats are pretty consistently great too. That's my 2 cents at least.
