yah Tasmanian poppies. I think we're one of only very few places in the world that grow them commercially for big pharma (Tas Alkaloids/Johnson & Johnson)

They grow wild a fair bit too, I think those commercial ones are 'sterilised' in that the seeds can't germinate, but there are wild white & red poppies that grow around a fair bit which make a nice relaxing cup of tea ;)

If anything, it looks to me like it needs a little less green in the water, matching the sky, both a bit more cobalt?

Have you ever been? Aside from the saturation that looks about accurate.

No, but I don't put any stock in accuracy.

Haha thats the problem with Alaska, everything is almost....surreal. The water is Greenish Blue and any adjustments to contrast and saturation make everything look fake. Honestly its the sky that bothers me more then the water, the sky is too saturated. The water is pretty accurate, could be a tinge more blue, ill play with it some more. Its not quite there yet.

This was taken in a tiny village where my wife's parents live.
They apparently pull the decking from the small boat bridge every winter to preserve it or something, I dunno.
I wanted it to look somewhat gloomy and dark.

First try at HDR. My main goal was to try to get the colors of the sunset (with Mercury if you look closely enough), while trying to keep the foreground about what it looked like to the eye about 45 minutes after the sunset. I can't say I'm exceptionally happy with it, but I think I'm on the right track. Thoughts?

Mercury, the Evening Star by venusian-weasel, on Flickr

What's not HDR was this lovely sunset last week:

Bald Knob sunset small by venusian-weasel, on Flickr

I was driving to town and noticed the sky was turning pink, but by the time I got to an overlook it was already starting to fade. To make things worse I forgot my tripod so I had to try and keep my hands steady. Not an easy task.

Also took advantage of a snow squall last week to experiment a bit:
