While we're somewhat talking about the toys: I'm interested in obtaining just one model, sort of as a desktop knick-knack, since I've quite enjoyed my BL reading over the past couple of years but have zero interest in getting involved with tabletop. What's the coolest miniature you guys have seen (that is available for sale at a decent price)?

Are we talking the new Typhus model? http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/CALAS_TYPHON.html It's not bad, I like the higher level or armor detail than we got with Abaddon, and I like how the suit looks stockier and tougher here than in the earlier ones. They are announcing the next primarch on March 30th and will have some available for sale. The open secret was that Horus was next, though I'd imagine they are really focused n getting him right so it could be one of the Lorgar alternatives or another one instead. The Lorgar isn't bad (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/LORGAR_PRIMARCH_OF_THE_WORD_BEARERS.html) but I wasn't that impressed with Ferrus Manus and Fulgrim. They tried a different style with those two and Erebus & Kor Phaeron, and that style just doesn't jive for me. There's a chance you'll see models for Custodes and Sisters of Silence from FW Eventually(TM), given that FW has basically suggested they intend to do all the Primarchs and the Emprah for 30k.

I got into Warhammer because I randomly picked up Eisenhorn from the bookstore (talk about luck) and just kept reading stuff. I love the setting, its like sci-fi mythology. Warp "gods" aren't gods at all - they are alien beings relying on emotion for their power. The greater the emotion, the stronger the entity gets. Obviously, the Emperor is not part of this club.

I thought they recognized him as having similar qualities, but clearly saw he was something more than 'just' a perpetual. Thats my impression, could be wrong. There was a scene in one of the books where John meets the E back during the Unification Wars on terra and E is all like 'you and i have poo poo to discuss people like us are rare' and they shake hands and John sees something behind the Emperors mask. Also im not sure how i feel about the whole perpetual thing. I take my sci-fi bolter porn mythology very srsly.

If someone wrote a novel based on a planet that was basically Russian tundra and the local IG regiments rode bears with multi-lasers it would be amazing.
