Maybe, uhh, maybe Byakuya will get stomped and then Rukia will win with her bankai? I know this won't happen, but it would actually be an interesting thing to do with this set up. Teamwork between the siblings would also be OK and is also not going to happen. I don't even understand how Byakuya is already there. The last time we saw him, he was a lump in intensive care. He didn't come down with Rukia and Renji. If they had enough cannon juice to send him the fast way, why didn't they send Ichigo the fast way? At least the character designs are fantastic. Got to love Fear Jesus.

Egads, As Nodt looks awesome. Even if the rest was  , his design and ridiculous additional power made it all okay for me.  Kubo tricked us again! The vaizards are jobbing so hard that it looks like they are playing charades and they all got the same word (Chad). It is starting to look like YWHACH will end up doing most of the heavy lifting when it comes to clearing out the mook population.

It's even the same character he's fighting essentially, since it's Byakuya fighting a guy with tonnes of eyes that can control you through some mystical means. As cool as the new design is, as soon as he showed it I was sitting there thinking "this is very familiar - Kubo's starting to just re-do fights now". And then Byakuya showed up to rescue Rukia and make it even more similar.

She gets no growth because she's always relying on someone else to save her even after her powerups, not to mention that this literally happened already with eye arrancar. Thematically it could have even been under the pretense of avenging her brother's defeat! Payback for all the times he's done it for Rukia. Plus in your heart of hearts you know Rukia won't fight anyone else after this; her series swan song battle should have been a decisive victory. vv We still have Orihime. Yea, that's a valid complaint in a series with Chad, Renji and probably at least a dozen other men who've needed rescuing from their fights. You can accuse Kubo of being many things, sexist isn't one of them. Renji winning a fight for once doesn't suddenly invalidate all of that or something. Rukia has still won more fights than him and been more relevant overall.

During the Chad arc, he was captured, went through a training arc, and rescued himself (which is somehow distinct from escaping on his own), all off-panel. Since he likes to play it cool, he just didn't bother to tell anyone.

I think everyone else has already pretty much voiced my complaints, which is a very bad sign because I normally feel the need to vent more than this. I will say this though, if Kubo finally shows us a flashback or something that reveals why Byakuya went from this:  to this:  he can still salvage this part somewhat in my eyes. That dangling plot thread was the only reason I was okay with him surviving in the first place. I would also accept Byakuya being wrecked and needing Tsukishima to rescue him.
