The correct move on a casual server is push everything and shoot everyone in the head.

For a competitive match, I would suggest smoking bottom banana near t mid and hold (or just hold) until something happens. The map timing makes it so that terrorists can switch sites faster than you can so just holding banana avoids you having to run lines back and forth from the two bombsites. (You rotate through mid if they go A)

Thanks for the advice. So is it pretty rare then that a T will hang back on Ramp to ambush any CTs coming down Banana? I feel like top of Ramp is a "bad place to be" for a CT since you're exposed to T-Spawn/Ramp & Underpass/Middle but maybe I'm being overly cautious. Like, I very, very rarely go south past the log pile unless I know it's 100% clear from T-Spawn backside (confirmed through mini-map gunshot indicators).

The point I gave up was when he was defending B on nuke. He was up on far side catwalk and I told him 'aim where you expect the enemy to be'

That could have literally been anywhere *except* where he decided to aim. Which was right at container between the vents.

Ok, guys. When I say 'aim where you expect the enemy to be' I mean that literally. I mean if an enemy should appear on your screen RIGHT THIS INSTANT where would you expect his head to be? That's where your crosshair should be at all times.

This is one of those things you'll just develop a feel for and there's no real correct answer. I usually rotate through mid however I'm almost always sure to check stairs unless a teammate has given me info otherwise.

Can't hurt to just toss a flash down either way.

There you go rubens, all your fault! You went on the wrong side of the car!
Really if you're playing serious CS you should be rotating sites and moving around the map based on what your team mates are calling. If your team mates aren't calling then you're just playing a game of chance and probabilities.

Not exactly, with the radar in GO, you can make very educated guesses and make the decision yourself. Most things a good player would call can be learned just as quickly by keeping an eye on the radar. Obviously it's much better to have a team calling, since you can get the information a bit more quickly and you don't have to take your eyes off the place you're watching, but the radar can still provide good estimates if you're playing with people that don't call.

I'ma buck you up.
If you are the last one in B(or a) on inferno you shouldn't be rotating through mid unless the bomb gets spotted/is already on the opposite site. If your teammates are still on the site defending and holding them off, you rushing down banana/mid will most likely just get you killed and then the opposite team will reverse and go to the site that you just left empty for them. When that happens it's called goons_playing_inferno.dem.

I think what he's describing is overextending into banana in order to clear it out to rush around to some other part of the map, like when CTs rush into B tunnels in dust2 instead of holding the site. Which works sometimes and feels good when you catch T rotating unexpectedly or something like that, but most of the time you will run into more players than you should be fighting alone and die while peeking them in a way that gives them the advantage, which is not tactically sound.

Where should I be standing/looking when trying to defend a bomb in Dust 2's B? It seems to boil down to 1-2 Ts vs 2+ CTs there pretty often.

Sometimes I can pull it off but even then I have no idea what I'm doing and it just feels like dumb luck.

Hugging the platform box and playing around it is your best bet in a 1vX situation in B.

You can't wallbang through it. It gives a great view of your choice of tunnels, window and door without exposing yourself. It's awkward for CTs to shoot you because of the possible elevation changes and the ability to quickly hide behind cover. You can popflash off almost all of the walls surrounding it.

The one that sticks in my mind was standing behind the box at the front of the platform and using the big box to shield me from door/window, that let me split them up a little.

Is that a reasonable approach?

e: didn't see Mcvey's post. Is that the box you're talking about?

I'm surprised the B tunnel entrance hasn't been mentioned as an option, it's unflashable and pubbies loving loooove to stomp through B tunnel and let you step back for an easy 1v1 because they assume you're pinned into plat/site. It depends on the plant/time left and you have to be careful not to get smoked off but that's whatever. Box is great too though!

Tunnels nice when you have 2+ teammates alive but it's too easy to get smoked/flashed/pinched when there's only one way out and you're the last one left.

Pretty much just hold upper from the inside corner of the corridor, but keep track of the # of enemies alive and what your teammates/radar call out so you're not defending tunnels when all of the CTs are mid.

I always feel that's a bad spot to play B whether you're a CT or a T. You might be able to get one kill but after that everyone's going to know where you are and there's very little cover and no chance of repositioning.

As a pretty scrubby silver I find that when I am playing with other silvers, guarding site from one of the "normal" spots will work really well, but when playing against novas or higher, standing anywhere near them will usually get me flashed + instaheadshot. When I am playing against people with a much higher skill level I find being somewhere unexpected is actually safer than being somewhere theoretically "safer", just to avoid getting owned by muscle memory and practiced nades.

Not a tactic when you have team mates alive, but if you're alone and plant don't be afraid to push window immediately and try to surprise someone. Getting an easy kill and potentially clearing outside of B entirely makes it a lot easier.

People will never face me with the knife, I think they can smell that I was a pro tf2 spy so they always run in the opposite direction. If you can rank down to silver it's pretty fun to dodge bullets and crouch jump your way to knifedom, just like in the good old days of The Specialists
