The problem is that the right wing wants taxes to go away entirely. They think taxing is wrong if it isn't for military spending. All they were doing was keeping what was rightfully theirs.

They also go on maximum meltdown mode over the fact that that dirty liberal communist Muslim not white guy in the white house is spending their tax dollars on things they don't like. Do remember that they think that preventing tax dollars from going to anything that's even remotely related to abortions is saving babies. They're trying to get all tax dollars taken away from things like Planned Parenthood because abortions. Even though abortions is like single-digit percentage when it comes to funding.

And also forgetting that easy access to cheap/free birth control goes a long way toward preventing pregnancies and thus reducing the number of abortions that happen. But they hate that because that means a woman might enjoy having sex somewhere and we can't loving have that now can we?

I think it's more of the idea that sex (for women) is meant for procreation and nothing more. By using birth control, you negate the possibility of creation.

When I was in Key Club, one of our members refused to participate in anything we did that was tied to UNICEF because she was Catholic and UNICEF advocated pro-choice policy. Doesn't matter if they also advocated things like the eradication of polio. If there's a hint of abortion or birth control, it was evil.

But if we had a flat rate tax, then everyone pays the same and it's all perfectly fair and no one's paying more or less than anyone else. Because surely we can fund the government the same way we help fund our local Kiwanis club with our membership dues.

Rush has already been :byodood:ing about the destruction of the NFL for months now. Although, that is mainly because he doesn't believe the concussion studies are valid science and laments any rule changes that would make the players more safe because of the 'chickification' of America by the 'feminazis' since the NFL all wore pink that one time in support of breast cancer.

Another thing w/r/t the Michael Sams chat is the Dale Hansen rant about pointing out the hypocrisy of the NFL celebrating criminals vs celebrating the first openly gay NFL player. Rush is just absolutely befuddled about what the big deal is about a homosexual joining the NFL. Rush just keeps repeating the question "Why should we celebrate a gay guy joining the NFL?" I think this might be because he and his listeners actively work to deny homosexuals equal rights, but what the gently caress do I know? Another highlight of that clip was when Hansen brought up that some people were uncomfortable with the idea of a black guy being a quarterback

Oh yeah, and Obama raised the minimum wage for federal contractors so Rush was naturally raging against that:

quote:

RUSH: Yesterday at the end of the program -- the last half hour of the program -- I was watching TV. Obama did his White House ceremony raising the minimum wage for federal contractors. It just hit me. There he is giving away some more of other people's money, and it immediately hit me:

How popular could I be if I could do that?

How popular could I be and how unbeatable could I be if I were able to give away other people's money to anybody I wanted to, and if I focused on the downtrodden and the needy and the screwed and the shafted? How popular would I be? If I had access to the entire federal Treasury and could give away money whenever I wanted to whoever, who could beat me? How would anybody beat me, and on what basis?

That's exactly what Obama's doing. He's just giving away money left and right. It isn't his. It's such a great gig. I was thinking about what it would be like for me to have all that money, and while I'm giving away all of these dollars that other people have produced -- while I'm giving away everybody else's money -- I'm flying around in a giant 747. I'm living in a huge house I don't have to pay for. I've got servants. I've got a fleet of cars, a fleet of airplanes!

I can pick up and go to anyplace in the world, and everybody else is gonna pay for it. I can send my wife on her own plane with the dogs and a cat -- and then kids and stragglers we want to pick up -- any time she wants to go, and nobody's gonna say a word because I'm giving away money to people who I determine to be needy. Who's gonna beat me? How can you beat me? And then the media that now hates me -- that thinks I'm racist, sexist, bigot, all that stuff -- would love me.

I'd be universally popular.

Everybody would love me.

I would instantly be called compassionate, and I would instantly transform myself into somebody with a big heart, who cares about people. All I would have to do is put myself in the position of being able to give away everybody else's money, and I could do it with massive ceremonies like Obama does. I'd call a big ceremony at the White House and announce that I'm gonna keep paying people for not working for another two years, and I'm gonna raise what they get to $1,000 a month.

And who can say, "No, you shouldn't do that. That's not good"? Is somebody gonna come along and say, "That's not good. You're destroying these people's work ethic. You are taking away from their dignity and humanity. Why would you do that?" I don't care what you say. These people are in need! They have been shafted since this country was founded. They should have had this money from the day they were born. But you people, who have all the power, you took it from 'em and you kept it from 'em and you just parcel it back in low wages and no benefits.

I'm giving them back what is rightfully theirs. They're gonna applaud me, they're gonna love me, and I'm gonna see to it they can eat, they can drink, they can call on the phone, they can watch big screens, and they don't have to do diddly-squat except vote for me. That's all they've gotta do. In fact, they're gonna love me. I'm gonna become a cult figure.

I could take the Constitution out to one of these ceremonies where I'm giving some more people some money and rip the first page in half.

Nobody would care as long as I keep giving them money -- other people's money, by the way, not mine. I'm not spending a dime of my own money on any of this. I'm giving away other people's money. People who have more than they need, people who have more than they can possibly ever spend, people who didn't really earn it because they didn't really build it. I'm just making sure that the rightful owners of all the money and the real people that make the country work finally get what they've deserved all their lives.

Who's gonna beat me, and how?

On what policy, what agenda, what issues are they gonna beat me?

This is actually why I have always argued why Rush is actually really goddamned brilliant and very much in touch with the current zeitgeist. He knows EXACTLY what he can and can't get away with. He knows EXACTLY where the line he can't cross is. His entire show is about running right up to that line, dancing on the side of it he's on, and never crossing it, ever. If the line moves he just dances somewhere else and acts like it was his idea it moved in the first place.

The man can play an audience like nobody else I've ever heard. He can also somehow make ANYTHING wrong. You hear it time and time again. Scientists and engineers could get together and create a machine that made infinite food so nobody would be hungry again, ever and his response would be "see? Science encourages us to be lazy! Destroy this thing, till the soil, DON'T BE LAZY YOU STUPID ELITIST IVORY TOWER LIBS! You think you're BETTER than farmers because you can make infinite food. Well, I know I have a lot of listeners that are farmers and THEY ARE NOT HAPPY!"
