Why does everything STILL smell like pussy?

Pianist On Strike posted:

One of my cats has these "tickle spots," one on each side, in the area between ribs and hips. When I scratch him there it visibly makes his skin crawl/shiver, and he gives me this "wtf are you doing" look and sometimes a little squawk. As far as I can tell it's not hurting him. Does anyone else's cat have something like that, and is there a name for this sort of thing?

I don't know if it has a name, but I'm sure if it actually hurt, your cat would let you know through the universal language of pain.

Welp, Faye hasn't gotten better, in particular her total bilirubin and Gamma GT keeps going up (ALT & AST going down) so we've moved onto a specialist. We've ruled out a random poisoning event, specialist said Faye would either have started to recover or died by now if it was (we're hitting 3 weeks now of liver failure #s and symptoms). So we've got 3 things left on the table - extreme bacterial infection, chronic hepatitis, or lymphoma. Best case scenario is infection since other two are not curable. 6-9mo est lifespan for lymphoma, vet said she's seen dogs live for years if you properly manage the chronic hepatitis.

Did an aspiration of the liver yesterday and a clotting test for the biopsy we're having done today. Aspiration showed 0 cancer cells, a high count of white blood cells, and overall the liver was large and uniformly inflamed...All signs pointing towards infection. We're doing an ultrasound guided biopsy (liver was large enough and since the damage seemed to be uniform, it lended itself well to that over more invasive surgical biopsy) to confirm but no cancer cells = very small chance of lymphoma and a chronic hepatitis patient would have a much smaller, more damaged liver.

So...wish us luck I guess! We're not out of the woods yet, but signs are pointing positive. Vet thinks it might be a super rare or strong bacteria since it resisted two antibiotics injections and a fully cycle of amoxicillin. We shall see. I feel really bad for Faye. She's about small lab size and I was keeping her on the slimmer side (around 50lbs) so with her not eating she's fallen to 43.5lbs and you can see her ribs, spine, and heartbeat through her skin. Her eyes are mustard yellow. :( We still might have to do a feeding tube.

Sorry for the wall of text, it just helps me to gather my thoughts in writing, I've been overwhelmed with info. Also, objectively I thought some who are in the industry might be interested in her case since we're veering into more rare territory. I find it pretty interesting myself, particularly the lab work and blood chemistry stuff. Also I'm irrationally happy it's not poisoning because I was really starting to blame myself as a bad pet owner in all of this.

Welp all signs are pointing to chronic hepatitis. No cancer or bacteria cells were found in the biopsy, just inflammation and white blood cells. We're still testing for fungals...but when you live in a desert they're pretty rare. Moved onto steroids which has increased her appetite a ton, but not her picky eating. Faye has moved on from subsiding on chewnolas to subsiding on corn tortillas (only corn! Flour is way out) and nutri dents which is probably the most expensive worst way I could feed my drat dog but the vet said as long as she's getting calories for now.

I've got a vet appointment tomorrow for more blood work, a weigh in and maybe a way to fix her drat diet. Seriously, she went through a 30 pack of tortillas and 3 bags of nutri dents/blue buffalo dental sticks this weekend. Dog is killing me. I'm spiking her water with pedialyte and the nutri dents have calcium/vitamin a/e/d and the only issue I found online was impaction issues (I'm feeding her mini/small ones and making sure she chews the hell out of them) but I still feel like I'm killing my dog with this food. I keep telling myself it's p. much just like Ol' Roy and tons of people feed dogs that...lol.

To be honest, it's probably better than Ol' Roy.

Certain fungal diseases actually do better in dry environments - like this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coccidioidomycosis

I am currently fostering a mixed dog of some kind for a few days. Food aggression and no training on collars/leashes/harnesses but no real other issues. Looking through the lost and found in local shelters for now but if she doesn't have anyone looking for her I'm probably gonna wash her up, take her to the shelter, and sponsor the hell out of her adoption. :3:

She's about 25 pounds and still has some puppy teeth.

e: To the shelter today! We've got a ton of prospects. She's ridiculously good with kids aside from being a little mouthy so I hope her new home is a family.

If you're truly worthy of invitation, a shaman will appear in your bedroom tonight, and lead you out into an open field where you will be tested and judged according to the ways of the island. It involves alcohol and lesbians, and not in the way you might think.

Hey, just wanted to wrap everything up and say Faye's all better! It was a super weird/rare bacterial infection. We got blood test results back today and she's completely normalized except her bilirubin is a little high still. We're keeping her on the hepatic diet and steroids/antibiotics for a while longer. As I was leaving the vet last night, she pulled me aside and told me she honestly didn't think Faye would make it with the numbers she had so...dang. Lucky dog.

But yeah, it seems she passed on her curse, boyfriend's parents adopted a 10wk terrier mix last week and they think he has a liver shunt. Livers suck guys.

search PIFB, then message the mod with your SA username, then you'll be electronically lambasted about being alive, having/rescuing pets, and possibly not being alive and not having/rescuing pets. And you do it wrong, just trust me. Yes that.

I forgot about the drunk lesbians. Ever since lizzy came out as fluffy bunnies and started speaking in coherent thoughts it's been a lot more subtle.

Also if you're a woman I'll probably be sexist at you. That's something I've heard.
