Can someone clarify an order of operations question? Is this correct? 1. Roll attack dice. 1.a. Apply modifiers to attack dice. 2. Defense dice are rolled. 2.a. Apply modifiers to defense dice.

I just watched that game and it was awesome and super tense! I also learned something about the game that I had taken for granted: apparently you can fire through ship bases with no penalty? I had assumed ships would be treated like asteroids,(thereby giving the defender an extra dice) but, I didn't see any evidence of that in the video. It makes sense to me now why TIE swarms are so popular. Edit: Are any of the other Worlds X-Wing games anywhere close to being that good?

I just watched this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J-R2-u7Na4 It was pretty good. Showed a TIE Swarm against a 3 X-Wing list with some good piloting going on. I'm trying to find a good match showing a Falcon being taken down as that's currently my greatest bane, but haven't seen anything yet.

The US National tournament videos are pretty good- really all of the Team Covenant ones. I actually picked up the game originally because I'd watched a couple of the video battle reports.

I'm having so much trouble playing against TIE swarms. I took Wedge along with different variations of the Falcon and A-Wing, but I don't think that's going to cut it against swarms. I chock a lot of this up to being a card gamer at heart and not ever dealing with positioning. I probably shouldn't charge towards the line of advancing TIEs like it's American Civil War tactics.

Yeah the last thing you want to do vs a swarm is attack it head on. Asteroid placement is key. Try to lump your 3 asteroids together in a tight triangle either in the middle or closer to your side and abuse the hell out of them to try and break up their formation.

I got drawn in by this finally and I'm building a small fleet: currently have 1 X-Wing, 1 Y-Wing, 2 A-Wings and 2 TIE Fighters. I'm mostly going for looks and getting the ships I used to love in TIE Fighter/X-Wing videogames, but are TIE Interceptors any good at all? They were really my favourite ship and I'll probably get at least one, but was wondering if they were worth their points in comparison to TIE Fighters. What about Bombers?

I don't understand why I want those big ships so much. I don't care what rules they come up with, they're way too large to be practical as anything more than gimmicks and yet for some reason that doesn't matter to me at all. I can feel my wallet getting lighter already.

But seriously, those things are amazing. I am really looking forward to the CR-90. e: Look I though the Millenium Falcon was bad, this thing will be a beast with all those Turbolasers. Thankfully it should be vulnerable to TIE Bombers to potentially load up those Adv. Proton Torpedoes. Also that Container token from X-Wing series games. Beautiful. Think I've settled on a list for Store Championships: Kyle Katarn Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist, Moldy Crow 31 points Blue Squadron Pilot Advanced Sensors 25 points Gold Squadron Pilot Ion Cannon Turret 23 points Rookie Pilot 21 points Kyle keeps the B-Wing supplied with Focus to go with a Target Lock every turn, while the Y-Wing runs interference and X-Wing helps out with firepower where needed.

I finally won! And by won, I mean I managed to blow up one TIE Fighter before losing all the rest of my ships: Luke, a Red Squadron X-Wing, a B-Wing, and an A-Wing. This time I started in the opposite corner of the map and then spent the first two turns maneuvering, but kind of panicked when the big melee happened and started accidentally slamming my ships into things. Howlrunner's ability is pretty broken. I took so much damage from those rerolls. I hate running ships with one agility, because I'll get into a position where I'll have a ship with four attack dice coming at me, and I have a single defense die to maybe roll a dodge, but if I don't then I'm taking 2-3 damage. I'm so bad miniatures games that I should be playing Empire so I can have all of the defense dice, many more attacks per round, and all of the cheap ships so I'm not sweating when I gently caress up and lose one, but damnit, I'm going to make Rebels work.

I don't know if I noticed it before, but the primary attack of the CR90 is range 3-5, which means if you were good enough you should be able to close the distance to they have to use the QLC to hit you, which uses energy. I really think this ship, while extremely cool, will be prohibitive in points even if you boost the games to 150 points. Han shoots first was a good build because it took advantage of the meta at the time, with the TIE Bomber squads build around a god-ship really aren't going to fly, even if it's a capital ship. If it's expending energy to regain shields, then it isn't supporting their squad and it sure as hell isn't shooting at you with QLC's so

The corvette is completely bogus if there isn't a valid tactic involving sitting in its blind spot and slowly killing it with laser cannons.

I'd upload the Fore and Aft sections of the CR90 but Imgur is crashing and showing up error messages so I'll have to do it later. Looks like the CR90 has 5 energy base which doesn't really allow for much shooting with the auxillary turbolasers or Quad Laser Cannons. I'm going to draw a pretty long bow here and say that the Primary attack of the CR90 is a turret, which can hit regardless of arcs. I think the hardpoint weapons such as the Single Turbolasers and the Quad Laser Cannons will only be able to fire out of the printed arcs on the base, as they don't specify anything to do with firing outside of arcs like the Ion Cannon Turret can. This makes the most sense in my opinion and would allow for ships such as Backstabber so still get the out of arc bonus by attacking head on or directly behind. Also it'd be pretty stupid if it can't shoot in front of itself. Also because there is a fore and an aft section, I suppose the ship itself will be 90 points base, which means even with 150 points or whatever you aren't getting much.

You're not going to win tournaments with the list but they are fun to play. Two BH also have lists like: Double Bounty Hunter with Cannons BH + HLC x2 Howlrunner + Swarm tactics Double Bounty Hunter Splash Damage BH + Assault Missile + Seismic Charge x2 Howlrunner + Swarm tactics The shuttle isnt that great of a ship and comes down to playing it Omicron with vader and using it to deny actions. You do however get probably the best add on card in the game, advanced sensor. Its the reason anyone owns more than one shuttle.

Tournaments really should go to a WYSIWYG format for what is on the play field, and a codex format for the god damned cards. The card bloat in this is getting retarded. I have a stack of dupe pilots that can't be used as big as my rebel stack. It's just wasteful. But I guess it forces people to buy multiple "shuttles" even though they will never use more than the first one.
