This seems to be the case for all the Netflix apps out there. My PS3/4 netflix genre sections are gone as well.

Yeah, most of my Wii ones are gone too, they have been for a while. It seems like it's always for movies I rated 3 stars and tv shows I only watched one episode of, too, for some reason. :argh:

I haven't watched The League on Netflix in over a year and I'm still getting "Because you watched" selections for it. It's mildly driving me nuts.

I prefer my Roku for Netflix because it's so drat fast compared to my 360 and Sony Blu-ray player. Netflix gets so little new content anymore that I don't even bother looking at the new recommendations and the genre things were always filled with movies I'd already seen anyway.

I saw something about WWZ coming to Epix which means Netflix but I don't know when.

I too still use my wii to watch Netflix in glorious 480p, but I still have mostly genres mixed in with a few "Because you watched Cockneys vs Zombies" - type suggestions. I usually just click at the top of the screen to get the genre list, though.

I get a lot of "friends favorites." I only have two friends who do the share thing apparently, at least they are both the mothers of girls, because otherwise all the damned ponies that show up in that category would be creepy.

I don't know that I can recommend Jesus Camp, per se, but it's :stare: as hell. It's not bad, it's just... weird and unsettling.

This is the scene I remember the most (I watched it on DVD in like 2008 and haven't seen it since) and it's one of the creepiest loving things I've ever seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxdt_f0hwUg

Jesus Camp (the link's for anyone who doesn't have it on their netflix since the quality isn't very good) is great and kind of scary. But the part with Ted Haggard, which is an hour and five minutes into the movie, is hilarious. Even if I hadn't known who he was when I watched that, I still would have joked that he was projecting when he preached hate about gay people, pointed at the camera and said "I think I know what you did last night. And if you send me a check for a thousand dollars, I won't tell your wife." He said "fabulous" a whole lot too.

Oh, and Lou Engle preaches anti-abortion stuff to eight year olds at one point. The same Lou Engle who holds rallies in Uganda to encourage a bill that would put gay people in prison for life.

I swear to god I think my Wii heard me bitching about it. Now there's only like 3 pages, and no "Because you watched" whatsoever. Wtf.

I should probably stop using my Wii.

Jesus Camp is seriously terrifying.

I just watched Europa Report, which was pretty loving awesome. Sharlto Copley from District 9 is in it, it's a sci-fi horror about the first manned mission to deep space. I thought it was really well done, tense and claustrophobic. Also pretty gorgeous and stylish for essentially a found footage movie. It's also actually pretty sciencey, which was nice for a change from the usual fare. Neil De Grasse Tyson has a cameo! Plus, the design of the monster being a bioluminescent octopus-like thing is pretty believable for a dark, frozen alien ocean, and just looked really cool. Great movie all around, I'd definitely recommend it if you like space-travel movies.

If you find yourself in a position where you're trying to decide which device to watch Netflix on, if you have one, you should pick the Wii. Among the home game consoles, its power usage is the lowest, by a wide margin. :science:

Also, a friend told me that the 3DS can tune into Netflix? Does it look any good on such a tiny screen?

Well, they have finally progressed past requiring a disc to run Netflix on the Wii, so I guess it has gotten better.

For a netflix appliance though, I'd definitely consider quality above power consumption - especially since any of the big three consoles will go into low power mode after being idle for long enough.

Alternatively why bother with a console, get a ChromeCast, it mooches power from your TV's USB port.

Oh definitely, the only problem I had was whenever it would connect to the wireless router I got with FIOs it would shut the thing down requiring a hard reboot. Luckily I had an old Linksys wireless in the closet for that. It was very frustrating trying to troubleshoot that because the CC would connect, then everything would go dark. Even hardwired with a CAT5 I would just get an error about identical IP Addresses.

Well worth $35 overall. I read that Google has lifted the embargo on releasing apps for it so I'm interested in seeing what gets developed.

So to try and get this thread back on track and interesting, I'm going to try and post some more poo poo about movies.

Force of Execution - The fattest Steven Seagal ever works for Ving Rhames. The movie begins with a mostly inexplicable scene where an assassin gets himself sent to prison (Seagal is his sensei, so he does the legwork as the fat man obviously can barely get out of a chair by himself) to kill a snitch or something, and Ving Rhames directs him to the wrong target. People get upset, the assassin gets hosed over, there's a lot of bad drama, and the most original use of creative camera angles and holding guns across the midriff to avoid showing that Steven Seagal is pregnant with twins. Danny Trejo is a loving Mexican Witch Doctor line cook who saves the day, and Stella gets his groove back just in time to kill everybody remaining. I've seen worse Seagal movies I think, but this one is worth watching just to see how he carefully poses with machine guns over his belly to obscure his beer gut, and his carefulyl constructed fight scenes which only require him to move his arms for about 3 seconds. None of the recognizable actors in this movie put in much effort - aside from Trejo, who clearly loves his job, no matter what he's doing.

A Case of Honor - Stripes: the POW years. A bunch of goofy archetypes are stuck in a POW camp, and they decide to escape because it sucks, and the war is over or something so thir captors are just being assholes. They immediately go to a brothel and then try to escape through the jungle with a bevvy of hookers (who tag along, hoping to get to America.) There's a crazy guy. He's crazy, but he talks to god so they do what he says. Like repair a downed and years-old crashed airplane, with green lumber and vines. The Vietnamese prison warden is really stressing because the Russians are coming, and they want to stop the American GIs from escaping because <reasons>. There are some jungle pygmies who show up, they sure do like hookers. Everybody flies off into the sunset - thanks Jesus! This movie was kind of dumbfoundingly stupid, yet remained fun.

It is and everyone should watch it. One of the best found footage films I've seen because it doesn't take itself seriously at all. Not sure I would call it a Kaiju movie exactly, but it's certainly got some giant monsters in it.

I watched the first two Wishmaster movies recently and enjoyed them a lot. The first one especially has some pretty great practical effects. The story is super campy, gory, and full of cliches but it doesn't take itself seriously at all so it works really well. The second one is more only good in a fun bad movie way, but I still found it very entertaining. They have up to Wishmaster 4 or 5 but I have no idea if the later ones are worth watching or not.

3 and 4 were direct sequels shot back to back, and almost feel like a lovely TV pilot. The Wishmaster has to swordfight an angel sent to stop him from falling in love. More than once.

Here's the best scene from 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCQAS7_ysZE

It was mentioned a few pages ago, but An Idiot Abroad is about the funniest thing I've seen on Netlix - at least for a long while.

Basically, it's a simple guy, who probably just wants tea and a biscuit, or to be in a pub; but the producers keep putting him in situations way out of his comfort zone and he's just continually baffled. As narrow-minded as he can be, he's really a lovable guy. They call him a "real-life Homer Simpson", and he totally is.

Here's a pretty good idea of most of the show.
