MJ12 posted:Is there a way to make a gimmick ALEPH all-robot list that's semi-viable at 300pts? Take the Marut as the LT and just a pile of robots? The main thing keeping an all-bot list nonviable is that once your Marut Lt goes down, no one else can be lt., sticking you with 2 orders for the rest of the game. Most enemies with any experience will realize that at once. Not that they would just let your TAG roam about freely if that wasn't the case, but it lets them know that they can neuter you as hard as it gets in a single stroke. Here's hoping upcoming Hindu releases include a brain-bot or strategos-remote that allows for bot link and remote lieutnants. It would make for a cool differential from the Phalanx.

You definately need more terrain of the large LOS blocking variety. I wouldn't worry about it too much as it's a learning experience when it comes to Infinity terrain and a lot of the time problems only crop it after you've started playing on it. For reference, this is an example of what we're playing on commonly here at my store with my own terrain: We've added more buildings for multiple tables and a lot of multiple elevation buildings (with the tower sets* from the Spartan Senics range) and this is a sparse table for us scatter wise. Basically try to avoid any clear corridors of fire from one table to the other, with this one we've got the two domineering complexes to fight over with the middle pathway being blocked by forests (we class these as zero vis zones to see through them) with relevant cover pieces between them. * - Our terrain is starting to look like this, minus the dropship: Each building also has a full suite of scatter in it like offices/tables/lockers/crates etc to give cover and LOS blocking inside them. I should really take new photos too, our terrain has come on a long way since this picture. With us running approx 4 tables now, rather than just one or two. These are some pictures of older tables that we've used in the past: Some ideas to strive towards:

So I had my first game of Infinity the other day - I've been interested in it for a while now and finally had somebody demo it at the gamestore. Basically I think my friend was playing the Haqqislam starting box, and I was playing the starter box for the Chinese faction - I had a bunch of those Japanese cannon fodder for infantry, a few chinese soldiers, and a Tiger Warrior (I think?). What was the most memorable thing for me was when I decided to deep strike (I know that's not what it's called, shush) the tiger Warrior into this ruined building, figuring she'd be in cover and flank his command elements - and ended up scattering like twenty inches, landing nine inches BEHIND said command squad. I was like 'gently caress it, there goes my expensive trooper' before I realized that they were all facing the other way. We consulted the rules, found her to be just out of range for them to ARO against her coming in.. combi-rifle comes up, pow-pow-pow! His medic is down, pow-pow-pow! His commander is down, pow-pow-pow! The dude he'd parked to oversee a street from a high vantage is down.. last actions I had are spent running like hell before their buddies can return fire. Newbie's luck, bit I had a ton of fun. That said, I'm now thinking about getting into the game. I was originally interested in Pan-O because they have the best tech and cool robots, and Ariadna just because come on, angry Scots and werewolves, but now I'm thinking that it might be fun to go for a build with Yu Jing heavy on tiger warriors. Basically the idea'd be to have some cheap order monkeys to hold fire lanes and produce orders while I deep struck some tiger warriors or other powerful drop troops into vulnerable spots. How viable would a playstyle like that be, and what would you suggest for a faction/models? I think that theme-wise I'd particularly like lists heavy with armored troops with the occasional TAG and robots - plenty of scifi stuff with armor, big guns, fighty robots, that sort of stuff. And yes, for the record, I'm also sort of tempted to go with Nomads just because of those geckoes, they look very very cool and as said, a list heavy with TAGs/other robots would be neato...

Is it possible to use the hacker from the corregidor starter box as a wildcat engineer? I'm trying to work out a way to go from the starter box, to 150, to 250, to 300 in nice easy steps. So I'm looking for a bit of advice from the folks here more involved with community and tournament organizing. Short version is, our two big organizing players have left town and I appear to be the only one with an even remotely consistent enough schedule to get the ball rolling again. Problem is, I've never actually had to be in the position of community pillar for one of these games before. I'm fairly solid on the basic rules of the game, if not every possible interaction of skills/equipment, and feel like I could run a decent demo game, but beyond that I'm a little clueless here. What have you folks found tends to work to get people interested and playing?
