This was particularly entertaining for me because I started reading the page without seeing what was below it or reading your little blurb about it. The first thing I thought was "Ha, that looks like a nerf ma... oh"

Artistically, Liefeld is unambiguously terrible. But from what I've heard, he's apparently a fairly decent guy. And he was able to get Alan Moore to write one of his characters, which is pretty awesome.

Oh, yeah, absolutely. I've heard he's an easy guy to get along with and has a decent sense of humour about the work that made him (in)famous. His supposed response to Ross's comments on the design for Magog probably would've been from more than a decade ago, after all.

Kingdom Come was one big commentary on how the 90s 'anti-heroes' were a bunch of violent dicks who were no better than criminals themselves, so they chose to make a character who was the embodiment of all that was horrible about the 90s.
The other half of Kingdom Come was that super-heroes in general - specifically including all the silver-agers from the Good Old Days Before Those Danged Nineties - had become a bunch of self-righteous jackasses who'd decided they'd rather be above people than just being people.

Gavok already made this joke but I want to post the comic because there's no bad time to post any of these comics.

For some reason it's funnier when reading JL8 to imagine that J'onn still has Carl Lumbly's voice, even as a kid.

The others I imagine with suitably 'kiddish' voices, but I think it's the suit that does it.
