BlankIsBeautiful posted:RE teachatte, I'm a coffee drinker, and only drink tea when I'm out of coffee. However, several years ago, my sister in law (who is Malaysian) left a "box" of tea at the place we spend some summer weekends at. We had no coffee at the time, and so I decided I'd drink that in place. The tea was in little paper envelopes, and I judged each "envelope" would make one pot. I believe it was oolong, but the box, and envelopes, were basically covered in Asian text, so I honestly had no idea what I was drinking. Regardless, I made a pot. Holy loving poo poo did that stuff have a kick! I was vibrating like a loving tuning fork! Usually tea (for some unknown reason) has barely an effect on me, but this stuff was like crack. I did like its sort of "smokey" flavor too. Alas, over a period of several weekends, I drank it all, and never found out what it was exactly. I would love to have some more. That might have been lapsang souchong, but that's not "sort of" a smoky flavor, it's usually an unmistakably strong smoke flavor. Keemun often has a subtle smokiness to it, and is closer to oolongs in flavor. If you're feeling particularly daring, get yourself a little pu-erh; some people like it, but the only pu-erh I've had tasted like old shellfish that had been dug up from a bog.

Nyeehg posted:I'n that case, I retroactively give thanks to those guys as well. At any rate I love the avatar. Yeah, no problem, I can run through the last 2 stores, which'll take around a month, then have you take over. 1 : I host them on Imgur, which is fairly nice, since you can just go to imgur.com and drag+drop the image straight from a folder into the browser, and have it upload, plus it can spit out IMG links so you don't have to do that manually. 2: Yes, I dunno what you have, but I've been using Photoshop for it. Auto-corrected colour and contrast. Set it to Greyscale. ( Although a lot of posters like the warm yellow-ish hue the pages have by themselves. I however love how stark and beautiful the black on while lines can be. ) ( The poster who posted Moominmamma's Maid, where my avatar is from, preferred the warm yellow way. ) I also later started pushing the Levels slightly, making the blacks blacker and cleaning away a lot of the noise/paper texture, making the white even sharper. Then rescale it down to 1000px wide, cropping away the giant margin beforehand. Although, the width is kinda up to you, I've been using 1000px just to make sure that nearly everyone can read it without having to scroll side-to-side. But the lower res does smudge some of the details. Then I save it as a .gif with 32 colours( It saves a lot of space.), 64-128 for yellower ones, you'll be able to see how many colours you use, anyhow. End result, fairly sharp and nice black and white comics, at only 400-700 kb a page, despite the size. I suggest you mess around a bit, and figure out what you like the most, and what's most practical for you, really. It also depends a bit on what kind of result you get right from your scanner. Comparison: 400KB vs 3.8MB And my perhaps too agressive Black/White Level scaling on the bottom. SubNat fucked around with this message at 05:24 on Mar 1, 2014 |
