Yeah, on a whim I watched Ghost Protocol and I was surprised at how good it was. Easily the best M:I movie in my opinion, a very pleasant surprise.

And yeah, Paula Patton being super gorgeous in it doesn't hurt.

Saw MI Ghost Protocol in Imax and people were leaning back in their seats and jumping up a bit during the firehose scene. Brad Bird is a great director. I can't think of a movie of his that isn't a blast to watch. If only he was allowed to write the script.

The Returned (Les Revenants) is probably one of the best shows of 2013, or one of the best miniseries' I've seen in general. In case you're worried it's about zombies, it... isn't. It's gorgeous, stellar music (by Mogwai), and once it gets going the plot resolves itself wonderfully.

It's really interesting, though I wish they'd spent more time with the Directors whose work they were butchering.

I felt the same way. The directors definitely had the most interesting and least infuriating things to say. I would have really liked if the filmmakers would have shown edited versions of the movies to a director and had them talk about how they felt about the cuts.

Oh it's up? I was watching the first few episodes on the Sundance Channel, but then suddenly my DVR stopped recording it, and I never finished the series. I was really into it.

It sounds like they are doing an American remake starring Red from That 70's Show.

Thanks for the list, my queue just got a bit longer.

I see they've also added the 1990 remake in addition to the 1968 original Night of the Living Dead. I remember not really liking the remake, but that was a long time ago and is mostly predicated on the different ending. Should I go back and give it another shot?

Invisible Invaders (aliens invade dead bodies and reanimate them!)
Barbarella (Jane Fonda's most infamous role)
Angry Red Planet (this used to give me nightmares as a kid, cheesy but lurid effects)
Attack of the Crab Monsters (Roger Corman at his finest, the recently deceased Russell Johnson, Professor on Gilligan's Island is one of the stars)

All four of these will satisfy your need for schlocky B movies.

After stumbling on it I had high hopes for The Final Countdown--who wouldn't want to see a modern nuclear aircraft carrier go back in time to destroy the Japanese fleet before Pearl Harbor--but unfortunately the movie never delivered on its premise. There are a couple Zeros that get shot down by F-14's, but otherwise nothing really happens in the film. Skip it.

Decided to give Robot and Frank a chance last night. It was pretty much what I expected it to be, but had just enough heart to it to bring it above an average rating. I enjoyed that the two came together by planning local heists, was not expecting that to be the bonding element. Also, the Robots response when people "molest' him.

I just watched The Silence of the Lambs for the first time. Boy did I have some wrong ideas about that one. I distinctly thought one reason it was famous was because Anthony Hopkins only had 5 minutes of screen time but was so good and got an oscar or something. I have no idea now why I always "knew" that. And I also always remembered seeing a scene where Hannibal fries and eats a part of someones brain in front of them while they are still alive but apparently I'm either making that up or thinking of a different movie.

This was also Hopkins but it was in one of the terrible sequels, Hannibal (I believe). SoL is a legitimate classic.

He does have the lowest amount of screen time of any best actor winner (and, iirc, less than some best supporting actor winners), you probably saw that along with his actual screen time and misremembered the number.

I watched it last night and it's pretty awesome. The fake action movie that they're lampooning is great and while the very end is cheesy the 30 minutes leading up to it are so meta it makes my head hurt. There's a freaking MC Hammer cameo, haha! I can see why it was a box office bomb but man, it's much more clever than you'd imagine.

Also Arnold might be a womanizer and a politician but at least he has a good sense of humor about himself.
