I don't know how.

That's the one thing I get surprised by where I work and live, how much the temp changes. 0F to 110F throughout the year, hell, I've had almost a 60F swing in a day. That really makes your loving bones hurt.

I went outside in a tshirt to get something from my car a few weeks ago, came back inside, and happened to mention to a friend on IRC just how nice it was outside today.

It was slightly below freezing. That's when I realized I was finally acclimated to winter :v:

I wear short sleeves to work most of the time, because the plant is kind of hot, even in the winter. I regularly fail to bother with my jacket when going home since my car, the supermarket, and my house are warm, so why wear it? Gets me some odd looks when I go grab groceries in 30 degree weather.

Yeah, if you can avoid Atlanta during dry sunny weather you should do so. Even the loop is dumb. If you are going from Greenville SC to Birmingham AL then you take the NW side of the 285 loop. Which lane should you be in to get past I-75? If you answered far left because 4 lanes exit to 75 and only 2 stay on 285 and those two merge into one, you would be correct.

Ugh, linking to gizmodo and the peanut gallery discussion.

Too much glass, the greenhouse on that thing is huge. Any fuel savings would be offset by the requirements needed to cool that drat thing. If they want a aero cabover, just bring back the football helmet.

Back in 2006 or 2007 I saw a "next generation" truck in Karlsruhe, which had a centered bubble driver position and was streamlined to match the tanker. Never heard anything about that again either, but it looks better than what walmart designed.

Isn't carbon fiber really strong until it gets damaged then it goes to poo poo? Would really suck to have your lumper or yard goat smack the trailer hard, then in the middle of BFE hit a pothole in the road and have your trailer sides fly off.

That's true, but not in the way I assume you're thinking - it doesn't flex then break, it just frays very quickly - almost instantly - and snaps, and it snaps more easily when damaged than not. However, because it's made up of fibres, rather than a continuous piece, cracks won't propagate through.
smacking the trailer might put a hole in it, when an aluminium trailer would dent, but theoretically it'll take more to break the carbon fibre than do any serious damage to the aluminium or steel.

These are Colani designed and are not primarily about aero as much as they are about Colani being weird as gently caress. I saw one of them some time ago, and they seemed really badly made. Like, giant panel gaps and cracks and poo poo. The interior was especially sketchy.

That poo poo worries me when I'm banging a carbon fiber paddle against a canoe, rocks, logs, etc. when I'm really putting my back into it. Twelve ounces of carbon and resin and if it shatters in my hand I'll be digging shards out for the rest of my life :ohdear:.

How hard would it be to mod it to only spin in one direction? It's probably electronically controlled oscillation, so you could skip the circuits that move it back and forth by just powering the motor with a switch.
