I hate commuting to campus and trying to park in the lot reserved for commuter permits to find no spaces and a shitton of vehicles with no sticker. And, don't forget that one car that hasn't moved since the Clinton administration. It's commuter parking, chief, not cold storage. Related: There are two metered lots right by the Union--one is level with the entrance and the other is a minute's walk away, down a flight of stairs. The nearer one can hold maybe 18 vehicles (most of it is closed off because the Union is being renovated) and the (not really all that) farther one has space for over 50. That farther lot literally never fills up--you can always find a meter there in a pinch, even at peak times of day during finals week. So, why do these lazy fucks actually form a queue with their vehicles for the closer lot? They literally loving sit in line and wait for a space to become available so they don't have to climb a flight of stairs

The most annoying thing I faced in college (besides the ONLY advisor for what was then my major going on sabbatical for eighteen months and informing me I'd need at least four more semesters to finish a degree the backup thought I'd be done with in one -- I ultimately just transferred and switched majors and it worked out) was when the professor-assigned leader of my professor-assigned group in a technical writing class in my fourth or fifth semester skipped class for five weeks and then plagiarized his entire part of the group project. As in literally everything he submitted was copied verbatim off of the internet with no attributions or anything. The professor ultimately agreed to not fail the entire group, but we wound up losing like thirty percentage points because we received no credit for the sections he had done. In retrospect I probably should have raised a stink about it, but after the rest of the frustration of the rest of the semester and being threatened with a failing grade in the course and being reported to the dean I think the rest of us all figured it would be easiest to take the C and put it behind us. On the plus side, at least none of the other group projects I did went anywhere near that badly. There was also a "fun" communications course I took where the professor repeatedly assured us that since the final presentation was department-mandated even though it wasn't a public speaking class, she wouldn't dock people for stuttering or reading off of notecards or whatever as long as we made an effort. Cue almost everyone in the class getting marked off five points (or more) for stuttering, reading off of notecards, etc.

This happened about 5 years ago at a crappy local community college in an intro C++ class. The instructor wrote the textbook and we bought it in a pdf format from the book store. We basically got a link that was printed out on a piece of paper that we downloaded the pdf file from. On the first day of class the instructor offered to print the book out for a fee of around $30. I did not purchase the book myself, but some of the students paid the instructor for a hard copy of the textbook. She didn't make them pay her when they got the hard copy of the book. A couple of weeks after the class started, the instructor told the class that somebody hasn't paid her for the book yet. She threatened to lower the entire classes grades by 10% for each day that the student in question didn't pay her. She apparently did not write down the names of the people who bought the book from her so she did not even know who owed her the money. Naturally, I thought this was complete bullshit that my grade was going to suffer because she could not keep her poo poo in order. I wrote a very strongly worded letter to the dean about how I thought it was improper and unprofessional for the instructor to be selling stuff to the students during class and if she wanted to sell hard copies of her book she should have done it through the bookstore. I also mentioned that I would throw a fit to everybody in the administration that I could talk too if my grade suffered because the teacher can't handle her business. The cherry on the top was that I mentioned I would file a complaint with the state board of community colleges if it was not resolved. The next time I attended this class, the teacher informed us that she had to give out refunds to everybody that purchased the book, and that nobody would have their grade docked. Needless to say, she was not happy about this. I would not have even cared about this whole situation except for the part where the instructor threatened to dock my grade for something that I had nothing to do with.

My wife had our daughter on a Friday morning and had to be back to her (school/work?) 3rd year medical rotation on Monday. The dean told her if she wasn't back by Monday then she would have to redo her entire year (over $60000), while still completing the last 3-4 months working at hospitals anyways. If she didn't complete those last months (even though they wouldn't count and she would have to repeat them) then she was going to be kicked out of school completely. It was horrible for everyone. If she had had to get a C-section like they were thinking we would have been completely hosed for at least a decade trying to pay back all of her loans without a physician's salary. Medical schools are complete assholes because they know there are always more people fighting to get in.
