Oh hey, it finally came out.

There's a Boatmurdered reference in the game. That's novel.

It's pretty fun. It's no Union Attack, but still pretty fun. A little annoying that it costs star blocks to start with items equipped.

Similarly can anyone suggest a good offline (no IAP) Texas Hold'em game and/or a good casino variety game? I have seen a number of requests in this thread, but no responses. It's a surprisingly difficult genre to find games for.

that depends on whether you mean interactive fiction or Interactive Fiction. The capitalized genre of computer games (that started with commercial adventures like zork but is largely an experimental hobbyist scene now) encompasses text-based CYOA but also many other things that could not be considered CYOA by any reasonable standard.

It's because you really cannot play poker without 1: human opponents to outwit and 2: money on the line. The cards aren't even half the game; the real game is learning to read and outplay other people, which is impossible when you're playing cpu opponents who will bet or fold pretty much randomly. Even if you're playing online, without money involved its not really poker, but a game I like to call "gently caress it, I'll call." Without people worried about losing something of value, there's no way to get away with bluffing, and no punishment for making bad calls.

Okay, having played more of Adventure Time Card Wars. I'd highly reccomend not buying it. Not only is it a paid game with IAP, the IAP is really really awful.

Unlike almost every other IAP game out there, you don't get premium gems for just advancing, but for completing challenge matches. However, a lot of the challenge matches are for challenges like "Complete a match using only creatures of 1 color" which quickly becomes impossible with the default card limit of 50 because you just can't hold that many.

You can buy more space of course, but with how rare gems are, you quickly run out and have to sacrifice any chance at a rare creature pull, which is all but necessary about a couple hours into the game.

The core gameplay is solid, but really the IAP in this game is probably one of the more blatant and ugly attempts to get you pay more money for a game you already bought, and really ruins it.

Edit: Also the deck editor is super lovely. Even the sorting function doesn't work.

Sorting works on my game.

And yeah, I find that if you don't spend RL money on buying gems you need to put 90% of the ones you earn into extending inventory. I'm at 120 cards now, with maybe 2/3 of the game completed. Even though it has these issues I think its the best card game on android.

It's pretty good. The items all seem pretty bad, gold accrues a little slowly, and wildly mashing on pairs sometimes works better than actually thinking about what you are doing. But it's a fun fast-paced match game and the production value is pretty decent.

My biggest complaint is when you're not in combat, it's timed, and when you are in combat it goes by turn, so as soon as you get out of combat you're frantically tapping things trying to get XP and end up burning your first combat turn since it comes in unannounced.

I have been playing this and didn't even realise that the combat is turn-based. I was just frantically mashing poo poo the whole time. I'm not if this is actually going to make the game less fun now that I know.

Radiant Defense is great, if nearly impossible without spending a buck on premium tower (buy the flamethrower). Beautiful graphics, los of decisions/options. I'm playing through it now without the premium towers and it's very very hard. The towers & mobs do not work the same on any given play of the level, resulting in sometimes replaying a level with no changes repeatedly in order to get the best pattern.

Jelly defense is fun. It requires you collect coins during levels, so it's less passive than some. It's easier than many, but getting 10/10 on every level is tough. I think I got it as the Amazon free app of the day, it's probably worth the $3. My biggest complaint about it is the loading time.

Kingdom Rush & Castle TD are basically the same game. Both are fun. - castle has an arena that has a nice variety. Both are beatable without spending $.

There's red dots under the enemy that indicate how many moves you have before they attack. I've had better luck pumping int and just trying to kill enemies before they get to attack. I try to avoid using swords and save them for XP instead.

I do the same except that gold swords are far and away the most powerful combat tile as they clear so much poo poo off the board so i generally pop those in combat when possible.

Okay, since the thread is hyped about threes, I thought I'd give a quick break down of some clones/games with similar mechanics.

Fives - Was mentioned a lot in this thread. Threes with fives.
Eights - Pretty much another straight up clone of Threes but with two additional game modes.
1024 - This one plays a little bit differently and really is a nice game on its own.

Honourable mention
2048 - it's not a mobile game, and it's a clone of 1024, but that's what got me interested in 'threeslikes' in the first place.
