I will say that when I upgraded my laptop's RAM from 4GB to 12GB recently, it made The Sims run so much smoother. Load times are much faster and the game itself is just a lot less laggy. Update 10 - Nerdery and Nudity Summer term is over and its officially our goons' break! They've earned it for sure. The fun thing about University and Seasons when you have them together is that if you keep the default settings, then each term is one season, which is pretty cool. As you can see here, its just one day to autumn, but its still a lovely summers day for the goonhouse!  After the disaster that was yesterday's exam day, most people have recovered and gotten some well needed rest (and showers!) and generally our little fuckups are doing pretty well, except for apples who is upset because she's hungry.  At 5am, Roar is the first one awake. For the first time in two days, he's actually in a pretty good mood.   ...a good enough mood to head into the kitchen and whip up some breakfast for everyone. He even gets a cooking point out of it! You go, Roar!  Its not long before Jimmy also awakens, looking very pensive this morning.  Goonlove!  Today is going pretty well so far, Roar has managed to make a meal without setting the dorm on fire. I really wish he'd put on pants, though.  Jimmy resumes his feud with the pool table.  apples also wakes up but she doesn't seem pleased about it.  Speaking of exam day, one of our goons has this moodlet! This is a special happy bonus that a sim gets for getting an A in their classes. Can you guess who it is?  Snuggles is awake and enjoying his favourite pastime - gazing aimlessly.   He doesn't do that for long though, choosing instead to join the newly awakened Eevee in the houses favourite pastime - harassing Muscle Wizard. He hasn't even taken a shower yet, guys!   apples enjoys her breakfast on the couch next to a reading Roar, Jimmy contributes to "cleaning" the dishes. Hot dogs not good enough for you huh? Dachshunds is still asleep at this point so I poke her into waking up and send our goons outside to..  ...the comic book store!  Once inside, everyone just kinda stares for a bit, while Jimmy thinks of things he'd rather be doing.   More goonlove! I guess Jimmy4400 fling with Mackalmoor didn't work out, he's now dating Fizzicist  While everyone else stands around and stares, Dachshunds whips out her sketchbook and gets another painting skill point    I send Roar to the front of the shop to get some comics. These sound right up his alley!  Hey its Rynyin and the other Mackalmoor. I guess they're on a date!  Snuggles rejects socialisation and wanders off to watch some TV.  Dachshunds disapproves.  Using the sketchbook instead of the easel will give you sketches that are worth less, but take less time, and develop both your painting and street art skills! Dachshunds is turning into quite the artist.   Jimmy and Snuggles argue over inventing tables, then Jimmy berates his ignorance   Meanwhile, Roar settles down to read what I can only assume is the Sim version of Sailor Moon. The housemates are being boring and not socialising together at all, merely choosing to go off and do their own thing. So I think a nice group activity is just what they need.  POOL!  Aww   With the addition of Island Paradise, Sims can now snorkel in the pool! Snuggles has the Love to Swim trait so he'll have a whale of a time no matter what we do.  Roar dives right in wearing the tiniest speedos on the planet, Snuggles is just happy to get away from the dirty dishes in the dorm.  Swimming will give us athletic points too! Its probably one of the best ways to level up that particular skill in the game, since most sims find it pretty fun and there isn't as much of a hygiene drop as there is from working out in front of a TV or radio.  Everyone is all together, enjoying the water. Aww.  Oh no!    Snuggles gets to snorkelling because why not, and Dachshunds has the most ridiculous goggles I've ever seen. Nerd.  Jimmy4400 is appearing a lot in this LP for some reason. Apparently that hasn't escaped the tax man's notice either!   The day is getting on, and the guys are having fun socialising together. Its heartwarming, really.  Eevee's face as he's diving is fantastic.  Here's this naked lady! Yep, as of Late Night, you can now skinny dip in pools. But that's not all you can do..  ...you can also steal their clothes! I tried to get apples to do this but by the time she'd gotten out the pool and around to the other side, Liz had put her clothes back on. Spoilsport.   Roar freaks the hell out, then stands at the side of the pool, appreciating naked ladies. Not pictured: Jimmy and Eevee also appreciating naked ladies.  Oh my! So its midnight on Saturday. What's going on? Dachshunds and Snuggles are happily swimming around, completely oblivious to everything.  apples, not to be outdone by our resident exibitionist, is naked.  Jimmy does not approve, Eevee thinks he just got a great idea for his novel that he is totally going to write someday, he's just concentrating on worldbuilding right now!  ...Roar is snacking. Cheese danish does sound good though...

Now, its time for another vote. The first day of the break/weekend has passed and our goons had a whale of a time watching naked people swim. So what shall they do tomorrow? There are still plenty of things we could do around campus, such as the parks, library, gym or we could go to the bar again. Or we could spend it at home, levelling up skills and socialising. I'm gonna leave it completely to you guys!

If you could level up cleanliness I would vote for spending time at home, but without that option I vote for the Library. Seriously, these sims are gross. Nice skinny dipping Apples, and I see our fellow goon Jimmy4400 is a bit of man-whore.

I was actually worried at the start that there'd be no "sims living in filth" related shenanigans because Dachshunds is a Neat sim and they go apeshit at the slightest mess and clean things up almost as soon as they get dirty. But, she hasn't. At all. The most cleaning she's done is taking out the trash once or twice and moving some dishes around the kitchen. I think all her time spent messing with Muscle Wizard is interfering with her clean freak urges. At this point, apples, Snuggles and Eevee have contributed to the cleaning more than Dachshunds, which is a surprise to me.

My upgrade is arriving tomorrow! Normally I'd celebrate with an update, however I will not be doing that this time. Partially because there's still voting going on but mostly because its my birthday on the 20th and Fizz is coming to visit me for the weekend, Sims will be the last thing on my mind. I will however be updating on Tuesday so votes will close on Monday night/Tuesday morning! I'm hoping that with this upgrade I'll burn out a lot less on the game and will be able to have a consistent update schedule. Fingers crossed!

Wow holy poo poo. Okay, let me explain what happened. I bought my shiny new RAM and installed it, then realised that my motherboard wouldn't take 16gb without a BIOS update. So I tried to do one on my own and...yeah, that didn't work out and I bricked my motherboard. So I got a new one, and a new processor because why not? Those arrived and I realised that the new board was far too big for my case, so I got a new one (its fancy, has red LED fans and everything) put everything together and it didn't work, so I sent the entire setup back...twice. I got it back one final time this morning and its all up and working! I did have to reinstall Windows but my savegames and downloads are all safe. Now all that's left to do is reinstall fraps, irfranview and rightload and we're all set! Thank you all for your patience over the past month (urgh, has it really been that long) and to reward you for that, I'm going to spend the next couple of days getting everything set up again so that I can make a special double update on the weekend! As an aside, the upgrade is great, The Sims now goes from loading screen to actual game within six minutes, as opposed to the 10-15 it took before!

Update 11 - Braaaaaains  Its just after midnight and most of our goons are coming home from their trip to the pool. Its also officially autumn! Woo! Most of our cast are pretty unhappy right now as well, for various reasons ranging from tiredness, to hunger, to stinkyness.  Snuggles indulges his hunger with a juicebox, surrounded by filth and flies.  apples grabs a midnight snack! Looks tasty, what is i-     Eevee and Roar quickly head to bed and go to sleep.   Roar has this emote, from witnessing apples eating brains   Pretty soon after, Dachshunds heads to bed too!   Jimmy briefly reconsiders his choice of midnight snack, then goes for it anyway!  Snuggles too goes to bed!  Sleepytime for apples as well.  and some goonlove!  Finally, Jimmy heads to bed, where he will remain for most of this update.  Several hours later, Eevee awakens and is very clear about what he wants to happen next.   Snuggles wakes up in a great mood, and is feeling mighty friendly! Aww   You just got up, woman. Give the drat Muscle Wizard a break, holy poo poo.  Roar dreams of what could be..   Typical morning in The Goonhouse.  Snuggles is trying to make it better at least?  The filth has spread from the dining room to the hallway now. This is seriously getting out of hand, guys!  Morning, Roar!    Good morning to you as well, apples!  There are literally no surfaces in the dining room that aren't covered in filth, so Eevee eats his cereal on the couch in the hallway instead.  Someone actually takes out the trash! For only the second time in the entire LP!    Dachshunds eats her breakfast and complains to apples about her soreness from the swimming yesterday. Most of the goonhouse actually has some soreness and fatigue from so much exercise. Snuggles joins in with his breakfast and they actually have a normal conversation together!  Eevee and Roar harass Muscle Wizard some more. I'm pretty sure he hasn't moved from this spot since this morning.  Jimmy status: Still asleep.  Eevee complains about his aching muscles. Muscle Wizard doesn't care.  Dachshunds cleans the bathroom. I love that she's neat enough to clean the almost pristine bathroom that doesn't really need it, but not enough to clean the dining room and kitchen that are covered in filth.  Here's a thing that happens in autumn! The leaves on the trees change, and you start to get leaf piles everywhere! It also gets darker earlier too, just like in real life. Its a nice touch!  apples stares down the filth. I don't think it'll work.   Roar, despite being in a bad mood, still looks like an anime character.  The staring contest continues with no end in sight.  Roar is not impressed. At all.  More staring. apples are you okay.  Wait...what?   Holy poo poo. Someone actually did the dishes!  Roar looks just as surprised as I did upon viewing this occurrence.  Hi Jimmy!    He heads downstairs and "helps" apples finish putting away the rest of the dishes.  He's more helpful than Eevee at least, who has spent the past few hours doing nothing but watching TV.  Snuggles engages in his daily brooding session in the hallway.  Muscle Wizard is even starting to bore Roar at this point. Poor guy.  apples does not approve of how loud the dishwasher is.  Oh my!  Look guys! A clean dining room! Good job, goons!   Jimmy gets bored and heads off to play some Madden in the computer lab.  The pool table gets some more use from Roar, who attempts some slightly less dangerous tricks than the ones that Jimmy has previously taken a shot at.   Eevee rakes the leaves and apples plays frisbee with the resident werewolf. Once Eevee is done with these leaves, they'll be in a neat little pile that can then be played in. Its loving adorable.  Pay attention, goons. This is what a clean kitchen looks like. Snuggles stands and stares for a bit, taking in this rare sight while it lasts. ...and that brings us to the end of the update! Tomorrow we'll play out the rest of the day and see how quickly these idiots can mess up their dining room and kitchen. See you tomorrow!
