It stinks of tough guy posturing. It's some schmuck sitting in the comfort of his home office telling people that Hatebreed is the key to getting away from a society that likes Jonah Hill (who is a fine actor, I don't really get hating him).

I am a huge fan of Hatebreed but for some reason that artical rub's me up the wrong way, I can't quite put my finger on why....

Anyone who think's Hatebreed are a toughguy band should probably watch them live, they really are the goofiest guy's and Jasta is always having such a great time he get's this goofy grin on his face it's hilarious comparing the band goofing around on-stage to the tough guy showdown's happening in the pit.

I've said it before but Hatebreed make hardcore song's that wouldn't sound out of place on a Rocky soundtrack.

I don't necessarily view Jamey as a toughguy, but I do think their music appeals to that crowd. And I think acting as if listening to Hatebreed will suddenly make you less "soft" is a silly notion, and the article kind of implies that.

that, your previous post and that other guy callng him macho are making me think you're missing the point. the article is mostly about his failings and bout with mental illness padded up with hatebreed jokes and decent opinions about screamo. I enjoy reading that guys stuff so im probably stan'ing a little but so many of these replies seem like they'd be about a stuffyouwillhate article when this is pretty much the opposite.

basically he isnt trying to convince you about the tough guy stuff and seems to understand it mostly applies to his worldview. I linked it because hes a great writer and i found the screamo stuff funny/insightful

My new jams are streaming on CVLT Nation: https://soundcloud.com/cvltnation/sets/pornography-hex-b-w-golden

Not strictly punk/hardcore/emo, but it's got the candy coatings of hardcore and screamo in a noise rock/doom center. And there's blastbeats and fake breakdowns and it's not really metal.

he called them unrelatable tryhards not unmanly. vomiting blood from
being in a poo poo gimmicky band is pretty tryhard. I do think jeromes dream made bad music and so did a bunch of screamo sacred cows. I dont think id be able to enjoy saetia if it wasnt for the nostalgia.

Heavy! Folks in the doom thread may also like it.

Re: Tough guy hardcore, I think the prevalent themes of overcoming struggles etc can be cool for people trying to get their poo poo together in life but I really don't see the connection to masculinity except in a bodybuilder=muscles=man type of way which doesnt make a lot of sense imo.
Seems a bit far-fetched to blame screamo kids for weakening the nations youth or whatever.

At which point of a rant on screamo and some guy's clear self-image and depression issues that ends with hatebreed being the solution do you think he's taking an actual honest stand on this poo poo? Did the word emasculate just make you real angry in the context of some guy calling himself a man-child and applying it to himself and other people he views as being just as stunted? He doesn't have an mra blog. He's not even saying this poo poo is negative. He's writing an article on his issues and loving tying it all into "I need to mosh myself to betterment".

Your post is getting me real riled up over the internet

Ahh say whut?
I've been keeping an eye out in this thread for anybody talking about The Hotelier's album, "Home, Like Noplace Is There", which was released on February 25th. These guys used to be called The Hotel Year and put out an album called "It Never Goes Out" in 2011.

In my opinion, "Home" is the better of the two - pretty solid from beginning to end with no obvious weak points. "Among the Wildflowers" and, in particular, "Life in Drag" swerve into more hardcore territory, musically, but the rest of the album is pretty straight up emo/pop-punk that scratches an itch I didn't know I had. Soaring vocals and solid instrumentation all around! One of my favorite releases of 2014 so far.

Anybody else listening to this?
