How tall would an air traffic control tower need to be to observe the entire east and west hemispheres? The diameter of the earth at its poles is approximately 7,901 miles.Blistex posted:Article says that the photos were "old data" and not current enough to be the missing plane. I really hope these loving hunger strikers get exactly what they want, and the Malaysians just start reporting every asinine notion they have. Any unsolicited prediction from a psychic, any village idiot's sighting, pieces of suspicion aluminium should be presented on camera, and so on. A text message service should buzz on all the family's phones night and day letting them know, until they are so tired and annoyed that someone finally just stands up at one of these press conferences and says "OK OK, ENOUGH ALREADY, JUST TELL US WHEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING ACTUALLY RELIABLE AND IMPORTANT!!!" "... Oh, OK, sure. Yeah, we could try it that way again, I t guess."

Every one if these tomnod sightings has been seen and tagged by a dozen people, but media everywhere are attributing each individual one to multiple people or institutions.

Search over, Reddit found it. Reddit users have been quick to comment on the image, with one stating: ''This matches the 777 perfectly in scale. I made a quick animation with an overlay of the 777''.

It's probably a perfectly innocent plane that crashed three months ago and now the plane's airline will get hounded by reporters wanting to know if the plane had any terror connections.

Thailand noticed the plane off course but said nothing because no one asked them That's because the last flight out of Phuket smuggling young Thai boys out of the country for human trafficking had left on schedule hours earlier and was accounted for so no need to investigate anything of non-importance. So has the Malaysian clown committee reported or un-reported anything new today?

Apparently the pilot deleted some data from his flight sim. Now they'll try to recover it. Wonder how long that will take.

They said the oldest data was February 8th. They also declined to say whether the data that was deleted has anything to do with the flight sim game. They are probably just looking for horse porn or any pro-Anwar material. If this is ruled pilot suicide or terrorism, I don't think the airline or Boeing will have to pay as much in lawsuits, so people will be pushing for those theories. If he really wanted to kill himself, he would have just jumped off the roof of Foxconn.

Dreamlogic posted:Wouldn't the airline be held somewhat responsible if their employee committed mass murder on the clock? As the poster above me noted, this would open up the airline for litigation if it could be proved that it was pilot suicide. In the case of SilkAir Flight 185, two prominent theories emerged - one of a mechanical malfunction (uncontrolled rudder hard-over), one of pilot suicide. The latter could not be proved conclusively so SilkAir got off and Boeing's rudder supplier was left with the blame and a $44 million lawsuit.

That doesn't make much sense. It's not like it's the airline's fault that one of their pilots decided to top themselves.

(Realistically I know you can never have 100% prevention for something like this so they may not have even done anything negligent, but the truth of the matter is this was a giant fuckup and somebody's gonna be left holding the bag, whether the airline, Boeing or whoever. Sucks for everyone involved.)

I think it's usually the insurance companies that actually take the financial bath in these events. Malaysia Airlines should have insurance for crashes - on the plane and for liability (crew/passengers/other planes/buildings/people on the ground/wildlife reserves). That's why it's important to find a cause, so the insurance companies for all parties involved won't kick-up a fuss over whether to payout or not. "No evidence of pilot error or improper maintenance practices. We're not paying!" - Malaysian Airlines' insurance company "No evidence of aircraft malfunction.
