Is there an easy way to remove all contacts from Phone on KitKat (Moto X) except for Google contacts? My girlfriend used the Motorola migration tool and has 1-5 copies of every contact in Phone. People has exactly 1 of each contact. I can't figure out a way to do it other than manually. Can I just clear data on the phone app?

hotsauce is back with another "SK8 OR DIE" creation.

Bought a "bricked" HTC One locally for $150. Resurrected it back from the dead only to discover it had severe purple tint with the camera. No problem. Restored everything back to a fully locked, stock device, RMA'd to HTC, got a new one back last week. Sold the Nexus 5 for $390 to offset.

Since, I've unlocked the bootloader, downgraded HBOOT, S-Off'd, rooted, converted CID/MID to a GPE edition, flashed the RUU.zip, OTA'd it to 4.4.2 stock and loving it.

Of course I will buy the new, new M8 one day, so I can't be dropping this thing. Resale value is king.

Ya'll keep hating on griptape. It's perfect for a slippery as hell phone you want to use without a case.

Post in YOSPOS and go nuts I guess, but I maintain it's a good idea for caseless phones.

Edit: and no, I'm not 300 lbs with slippery, sweaty cheeto fingers. It's no secret a naked HTC One is a slippery device. If you don't believe that, you've never held one.

As long as I don't drop it and dent the body/bust the screen, I'm good. I can remove the strips in seconds and it's as good as a brand new one.

Ever sold on Swappa? People basically ask you to hold a microscope up to the device for "imperfections." If one is even remotely found, you get a lowball shakedown train in the comments.

My phones never have any and I don't use cases. Personal preference I suppose but that's how I roll.

Edit: I may have misunderstood your comment, I guess. Maybe you are saying it's funny to spend time protecting a new replacement phone by taking measures to make sure it's not damaged before selling? Unsure.

Oh I can't fault the utility, or the desire to keep the phone pristine. It's just ironic to design your ideal phone with a premium wood back and then finish up by sticking pieces of crap all over it. Especially if part of your reason for avoiding a case is so people can admire it in its unadulterated beauty

I returned the X a long time ago. Again, the clear griptape is virtually invisible on the One (and was on the X, but hey). Even if anyone (GASP!) sees it, I give zero fucks. I just don't want to break my phone, sorry if that's hilariously comical beyond belief and comprehension.

I guess goons walk around with phones to impress people with the way they look? Cool. I just don't like cases and don't like slippery expensive things falling to concrete where they shatter. I have never set out to stare at my phone and admire it's beauty, BTW. Don't really care how it looks but don't like bulky cases. Naked is best and risky, hence some sort of grippy side-solution.

Admiration in unadulterated beauty isn't in my eye. Admiration is in the resale value. Mint = $$$ so I can buy another to poo poo up with pieces of crap on it. It's great, actually.

Again, as I said a while back, if you are reading this, do NOT put clear griptape on the sides of your slippery phone. You will feel the goony wrath from all who are superior and know better than you. :v:

Edit: here, have a look at how shitted up it looks from 7 inches away. The horror! I guess if it had wood as a back and I flipped it over, everyone would lose their minds? Unsure again.

Pornhub. XTube. I know these names, better than I know my own grandmothers.
My Nexus 5 seems to be having some trouble connecting to wifi. When I check the listed wifi networks in the settings and attempt to connect to it the phone tells me its "Obtaining IP Address..." and then says "Disabled." Then if I try and reconnect it it attempts to authenticate but then it just shows the name of my wifi network and lists no status underneath. Everything else in the house connects to it just fine, my other phone, my nexus 7, xbox one, the computer I'm on now and my chrome book. I even fired up the hotspot on my other phone and it wouldn't connect to that network either. A few times when I've looked for the networks to connect to it shows a message that says "The WPS failed. Please try again in a few minutes." I've powered the phone off, turned wifi off and put the phone in airplane mode but it hasn't had any effect. I can try rebooting the router, and resetting the phone. I know this is an issue for the nexus 5 but other people seem to have found some way to solve it. Does anyone have any other suggestions/ideas?

Sounds like a lot of work for something that's just gonna be sold at a loss in a week (because prices for a device plummet after the next generation model is announced). You probably should have kept the N5, it would have stayed stable.

No, seriously... what kurds?!
For coming in at 240MB, compared to the ~7MB of the non-HQ one, it sure doesn't sound great. Matter of fact, it comes with sort of vibrato artifacts depending on what words it wants to pronounce, which the non-HQ one hasn't.

At similar sizes, the Ivona TTS fares way way better, especially at inflections and all that.

Also, the Google HQ TTS seems to lag/hesitate frequently for some reason.

Emoticon/Emoji question.

Text App: Evolve SMS / Also stock messaging
Phone: Moto X / Former Note 2

I noticed when I installed Evolve SMS on my Note 2 a couple weeks back that emoticons/emojis(sp?) were just blank texts when I received them. Now on my Moto X it is the same thing. I checked in the stock SMS Messaging app and it is a blank message as well. I have downloaded the sliding keyboard emoticon apps that are in the options for evolve. I am able to send them from the app just fine as well.

Any ideas?

The reason what you're doing is comical to me is because it's the embodiment of the Android stereotype. Cases? Pshaw, too bulky! Bare phone? But I don't want to break my baby! I know, I'll McGuyver a solution that doesn't provide any protection and ruins the aesthetics!

If it gets knocked off a table or - god forbid - still falls out of his hands, yes, it will be damaged just the same because it doesn't actually provide any protection. It prevents butterfingers while holding it with one hand on the sides, but doesn't prevent damage from one of the many ways a phone can still come in contact with the ground. If protection is the goal, get a case.

Even though googling for "orange cell phone signal indicator" is really loving difficult since there is a pretty big cell phone operator called "Orange", I was able to find out that the orange color means that there is actually no connection.

Why? Why does my phone show that I have excellent signal, "full bars", on the status bar, but then when I pull down the drawer and open the setting it's "Psyche! Your connection is actually poo poo!"

The OP only argued about protection from slipping, of course a patch of tape doesn't protect from anything else.

Case would be a much safer solution if you feel like you might sit on it or something, no argument there, but it comes with its own set of negatives.

There's no contradiction, signal strength isn't the only variable which determines whether or not you have a working data connection.

Orange actually means the device doesn't have an active connection to Google's push server. While no data connection is the most common cause (therefore its presence heavily implies that is the case), its not the only one (e.g outages on Google side would also do it).
