Eh, arguable, in a hopelessly circular sense. The Room was supposed to be a serious drama that failed so horrifically that it ended up a comedy. Kickassia was made as a fanservice niche product to cater to the, er, 'unique' audience, never thought itself as much else, and in so basically succeeded, even if it failed as a comedy, its supposed purpose. It's probably a little bit of everything. I want to say for the first year they did the "epic brawl" or whatever nonsense and since then the films have gotten more and more overblown with every iteration and more fan servicy than the last. It's a bit sad that Doug is in charge of this since he might be good* at reviews he knows fuckall about actually making movies. This is indeed a disturbing universe.
I don't know how long this has been in effect but there is a You May Like section at the bottom of all tvtropes pages with pictures corresponding to the suggested articles.

Gag Boobs always seems to be in the mix of six.

As most of you are aware, tropers have decided that there should be an absurdly high number of different tropes about breasts (I'm pretty sure 100% of which feature a cartoon as the page image). I browsed through a lot of them and the mere presence of so many :words: written by spergs about boobs is exhausting enough (including the Real Life folders, wtf) that, again, we could dedicate an entire thread to it.

That being said, in the Discussion tab for Buxom Is Better, the following caught my eye. For context, two tropers are seeing "improper use" of the trope and having trouble deciding which example of huge titties should go where, given that there are so many tropes on the subject. One of them replies:

quote:

[...]
I now realize that at least part of the problem is that we're trying to shoehorn multiple tropes into one. Here's my current take on it:

Buxom Is Better proper :words:

Buxom Sells :words:

World of Buxom: Where every single known/shown female/hermaphrodite character - excluding the occasional Token Loli or Pettanko - is unquestionably big-breasted, even the nameless extras, to a degree that is dissonant with reality.
  • Godannar is a glaring example; most of the non-pilot cast are clearly Japanese citizens, and yet not one of the girls go below "large" on the Sliding Scale of Anime/Manga Breast Size. Buxom Japanese women are a rarity, last time I checked.
  • Similarly guilty are Angel Blade and Divergence Eve.
[...]

(By the way, Token Loli and Sliding Scale of Anime/Manga Breast Size link to dead pages BUT they do have live pages for Hermaphrodite and Pettanko.)

Anyway, let's see what examples they have listed under World of Buxom, starting with one of the animes mentioned above:

quote:

Divergence Eve: Despite being very dramatic and nearly devoid of comedy or mention of them, the entire female cast (with the exception of the flat-chested android) have very large breasts that Gainax Bounce with every turn.

A quick diversion, if I may.

YMMV: Divergence Eve posted:

I haven't seen the show but I'm going to assume these people made a wise decision. Also holy poo poo Best Known for the Fanservice is absolutely huge (no pun intended).

quote:

Manyu Hikencho, as a world where breast size literally equals power, has a lot of busty females as both friends and adversaries.

Link provided because that anime also looks ripe for the mocking.

quote:

Eiken, being the image, doesn't care whether the female characters are adults, teenagers, or elementary school-aged. Instead, it throws massive tits on most of them. Hell, they go so far as to change boob size mid-scene in the name of fanservice. And this is actually one of the tamer works by its author; his other stuff tend to make this series' busty characters look small.

Charming.

The page for Eiken no longer exists. A quick search brought up the "P5" debate regarding it being cut from the site:

Komodin posted:

Now, personally, I'm for keeping it gone because, while it's not straight-up pornography (being just heavily ecchi), one of the major characters is a preteen girl with breasts literally the size of watermelons. However, since I'm always for a second opinion on matters like this, I ask you guys... do you all want it to stay gone, or do you want to bring it back?

Catbert posted:

I don't know much about the work so I don't know if this is a keep or cut, but one observation I would make is that huge breasts doesn't sound like something intended to appeal to lolicons.

I guess that makes its appeal to pedophiles sorta iffy?

Martello posted:

Eiken is a strange case. On the one hand, it definitely sexualizes children.

He could and should have stopped there.

Martello posted:

On the other hand, it does it by giving them very adult features - huge breasts, obviously. My concern is that it also sexualizes the main character who's an underage boy. I really don't get the mentality behind the work so I'm not going to try to dissect it and come up with some specific fetish or paraphilia it's supposed to cater to. Either way, there's a young boy and a number of young girls in very sexual situations, which to me is still in the spirit of pedo-pandering, giant breasts aside.

Arha posted:

I think the girls probably get a pass so long as there's no actual sex and they don't actually look young. Weird and creepy, but not pedo pandering. I'm not sure about the protagonist. GIS shows a guy with a pretty vague looking age. Actually, I didn't find many pictures of him since apparently no one cares about him. Unless the protagonist really does look like a child the manga is only terrible, not pedo pandering.

This is more like it. "It's clearly something no human being should have ever produced but there's no explicit child sex so it belongs on our Family Friendly Website!"

I think he might pay their hotel bills, but not being paid is one of the complaints I've seen from people who've been in his dumbass movies. The idea is that they will get exposure and ad revenue by being in the film and that will mean they get a better income (as does the site, of course). That's another reason for the hosed up structure of the films -- every single one of the thirty plus actors is there to get promoted on camera, so they can't be side-characters or have a bit part or they wouldn't agree to be in the film.

So every single character has to have a scene where they're front and center, doing something important for the story and pimping their show at the same time.

Best Known For The Fanservice posted:

In Seikon No Qwaser, breastfeeding and bondage are apparently the only things anyone ever does. Forget the cool characters, literal Elemental Powers, Character Development and kickass battles.

For some reason, the page for this anime has been recently deleted, but the name sounds familiar...

I posted:

Manga: Seikon no Qwaser

The St. Mikhailov Academy student Oribe Mafuyu comes across a mysterious silver haired boy. His name is Sasha and he is a Qwaser, a being that draws power from Soma and is able to manipulate a specific element. And now, in the 21st century, the mystery revolving around an Icon turns the academy into the battlegrounds for the fight between the Qwaser!

Seikon no Qwaser is written by Yoshino Hiroyuki and drawn by Satou Kenetsu, the artist of the manga adaptations of Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome. It is a story about Russian Orthodox Church Militants using alchemy with power over one specific element from the periodic table each. However, the Qwaser recharge their power by drinking "Soma" from women's breasts, and the stronger the emotions of the woman being sucked, the more potent the Soma. Yes, this rule applies to female Qwaser as well.

As you might guess, this story is definitely NSFW. On the other hand, if you're looking for a borderline-hentai manga with action, a plot, some chemistry and gratuitous Russian words mixed in, then Seikon no Qwaser may suit your taste.

The anime adaptation of this work premiered in January 2010, with a second season that started in April 2011. This time Sasha goes undercover in an all girls school to find a legendary maria. He does this by - you guessed it - sucking the breasts of his fellow schoolmates.

Author Appeal: The only explanation for what lengths this work goes to fetishize breast-feeding. Add shimmering lights, spinning action, slow-motion close-ups and a Good versus Evil battle... And the S&M, and the Russian Orthodoxy... also interesting in that the ones that seem to get off during the breast-feeding sessions are the ones being sucked, not the perpetrators.

Breast Expansion: When Mafuyu is used to complete the bad guys' plan, in the anime her breasts magically gain several sizes.

Depraved Bisexual: Just when you think Mutsumi is a (relatively) well-adjusted individual compared to her partner, she knocks Mafuyu unconscious in one scene and then tries to rape her when she wakes up. Even after this event, she continues to make passes at Mafuyu every so often.

Girl on Girl Is Hot: You'll find it in practically every other chapter of the manga with varying degrees of softcore porn attached, but especially in scenes with Katja and any other female character.

Lolicon: Hana. Katja's intro chapter makes this abundantly clear. Taken Up to Eleven in the anime, where, near the end up the fourth episode, it shows Hana very happily licking Katja "down there". Ayame was a little too happy to help Katja with the Toilet.

Why yes, dear tropers, hentai usually is remembered for the pornographic aspects. Why the hell would you expect anything else?

The concept of the hikkomori was brought up recently, and in a way these types are worse. Japan's pressure (which I honestly see as a societal detriment, because it seems less geared to try and help everyone succeed to the best of their ability and more to ensure that every part of the human condition that Japan finds distasteful is scoured away, from the very little I know, and hence could be completely wrong about, I will note) is universal, and has the terrible double whammy of having no help or refuge from, and immediately being labelled as a failure if you succumb to it, and since every person is wired differently, some are inevitably going to. Not only is that not the case in the United States, where most tropers are likely from, but there's far less united societal judgment; for the most part, people don't care. Yet they withdraw, make up a new world where they're just too advanced for the rest of us, and then tell us from the safety of their computers. Yeah, she's basically a harvest goddess sort of thing (I don't remember the specifics, been a while since I watched it) and, well, yeah. Holy crap TVT manages to make that sound creepy in their attempts to assure us it's not creepy. (It really isn't creepy; was surprisingly good even. It's on Netflix if anyone's curious.) There's all of, like, one scene where she has no clothes on, and it's not explicit because it's not a show about that sort of stuff. It's a low-fantasy (pretty much mundane outside of the titular wolf) series about getting by as a traveling merchant in crappy medieval times.

That's a special talent of TVT's, really. Not only do they try to justify the creepy things they like, but when they talk about normal things they manage to make them sound horrible as well. I'm still baffled by that Fantasia thing; I didn't even know there was that in it, and yet they, in their attempts to assure us it's not a big deal, put so much focus on it that, well, yeah. Basically TVT dost protest too much re: Not being creeps.

IIRC (I think it's been five years or so since I've seen it), she's clothed most of the time and when she is naked, it's usually with her back turned or curled in a fetal position after transforming back from a wolf. It's definitely not sexualized, at least by anime standards.

Really, the show is completely focused on medieval economics and mercantilism (one episode's plot revolves around the main character arbitraging coins with slightly different amounts of gold in them, and the wolf character helps him out by listening to slight difference in tone when the coins click together). I think that troper is just trying to make it sound way more controversial than it really is.
