I've seen the horrors of the internet, watched Schindler's List, and seen actual bodies lying dead in the street. None of that has produced feelings of existential dread anywhere close to what I get after watching that godforsaken foam video.

Are you actually watching the whole thing? I thought it was like getting rickrolled, you watch enough to see "Oh, it's annoying crap" and turn it off? Either I've never seen past the first 30 seconds, or it's bad enough to induce memory loss.

I watched it with the sound off and it was bad. Then I watched the first 45 seconds again with the sound on and it was less bad. I think the first watching destroyed me.

Seems like a fair assessment, I just clicked through with the sound off and it just looked like insufferable teenagers being insufferable. That they taped it, subtitled it, and put it online for some reason where they can be ridiculed for it is where the schadenfreude comes in I suppose.

I dunno, I think maybe when I was a teenager we were insufferable in different ways. Just as bad to an outside observer I'm sure, but this is a kind of insufferable that I haven't really had experience with. The piece of foam has a better sense of humor than they do.

A little work schadenfreude. At my old unit(prison), whenever we move the medium custody offenders, we have to have someone in the picket with the 37mm gas gun. Day to day, not much happens when we have that out, due to how noxious that poo poo is. When we have someone with the gun, they are walking on the row above the one with the offenders on a steel grating, so as to have a good vantage point, in case poo poo goes down down the run. Well, one day the captain and major decide it is time for them to come down and hassle us on policy and procedure, you know, to make sure they look like they are doing something (this isn't true of all rank, just these two perpetual poo poo heads, one was out to get officers, the other was his boot licker extraordinaire), and they decide to watch us strip the offenders before we put them in the day-room, instead of catching in and helping(we are persistently short on that unit.) Well, we had to put a new-boot(new officer) on the gun, for reasons that is not clear to me right now, as this happened like 7 years ago, and when he was loading the gun, he had the hammer pulled back on it. Well, when he locked the barrel into place, he accidentally pulled the trigger, like 2 feet away from the heads of Tweedledum and Tweedle what a fuckin' idiot, and boom, we got a show. No serious damage, but they were burning up, being covered with sweat and all, then made the WORST decision of running to the showers to try to get it off. They came out loving PINK. They went home early, and couldn't show their faces on shift for like 3 weeks for embarrassment. They tried to fire the new-boot, but seeing as how they didn't train him properly, all that fell through. Also, at the officer dorms, we would try to ambush each other with paintball guns, hide easily spoiled food in other rooms, JB weld things to people's beds/doors/floors/closets, one of them being a used dildo(donated from one of the female officers) on someone else's doorknob. Left it running too.
