You wait to bubble until you're clear of your own fleet, unless you're tackling a titan or something (then you just poo poo bubbles and cross your fingers). A lot of this comes down to being in the right place at the right time, which means having situational awareness and thinking ahead, which, uh... ok, I can see why this is a problem in GSF. I think part of it is that people have a strong impulse to do something when a fight break out just to feel like they're contributing. Just sitting there watching your buddies duke it out while you're cloaked up out of the fight is rough. Now put that mindset in a ship whose only move is "bubble" and end up with a recipe for hilarious losses.

I only bubbled when ordered by the FC - I know that bubbling your own fleet can be fatal (and expensive). Hilarity still ensued. The problem was position and timing. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

Most of the terrible bubbles I've seen are FC-ordered bubbles though, usually both mis-timed and mis-placed by the pilot. Like fast tackle, it's one of the roles that always requires some degree of initiative and experience, only with potentially far worse consequences if you gently caress up and bubble your own fleet. The only time one should need to be told to bubble by the FC is on a gate where you don't have access to the intel that the FC is getting from the other side. But yeah, it takes a lot of practice, so chances are you're gonna gently caress up a few times along the way.

I'm going to be training into HIC/HAC after I finish getting into my marauder. I look forward to the days when I failcascade an entire fleet by doing something horribly wrong with the bubble buttons.

Calidar posted:As stated above NC. claim they used a typhoon spy to bump, Goons say there was no spy and it was cyno bumped out. That is an NC. titan bumping off the shields and doesn't really answer any question. What it shows is that titans are bumping off the shields (and one of them is going 250m/s by the time they are 90k off) and that a enemy (CFC) titan is somewhere around 10-20km away from the tower on the opposite side, that could have gotten there from bumping via the cyno, a spy, or could have gotten there some other way. What is fishy, at least to me, is either there two people directly involved per the TMC article (the bumper and guy lighting the cyno) or one person involved who got the password from a second, then bumped and lit a cyno. If two people were involved, what possible reason would you have to cyno in right on the shields? If one person was involved and they were so sensitive about time why was the cyno lit in nearly the furthest possible point he'd have to travel to get out of the shields to light it and why does it appear if he was in a rush then that he came to a complete or nearly complete stop before he lit the cyno based on the image?

I'm all for attacking what is an obviously bullshit story, but their idiotic claim is that they bumped him out, then popped a cyno "too close" and it shot him out the other side of the shield.

I hosed up a bubble shortly after joining PL and ended up accidentally bubbling our shieldcat fleet like a proper mongoloid. FC called to drop bubbles, which made no sense to me, but I did it anyway - unfortunately he meant for the hic elsewhere in system to take down his bubble. Lesson learned.

ullerrm posted:Don't skill for a Mach specifically. It's probably the most specialized, single-purpose subcap in GSF's repertoire. Get general skills so you can be good at many ships, and if that happens to make you good at Machs, all the better. For what it's worth, the GSF reimbursement Mach skillplan isn't. It's a plan that will give a pilot an exceedingly good set of support skills, including a few critical utility options, which are allowed on alts. I'm not especially close to it, battleship Vs are a long ways away when you mostly prefer flying fast cruisers, like the scimitars that support Machariels, among others.

What's the state of the game? Been in and out of Eve a few times and Krursk's trying to convince me to give it another shot, despite almost losing his carrier in an escalation (haha). I missed my days of high-sec griefing and safaris from when I was rolling with the Skunkworks, but I think I might give nullsec another shot. Would it be worth it to come out to null and blow up some internet spaceships with you guys as a Caldari pilot, or does everyone still have a huge hard-on for AHAC fleets?
