It's really not that hard, you just have to not be a twitchy retard. You wait to bubble until you're clear of your own fleet, unless you're tackling a titan or something (then you just poo poo bubbles and cross your fingers). A lot of this comes down to being in the right place at the right time, which means having situational awareness and thinking ahead, which, uh... ok, I can see why this is a problem in GSF.

I think part of it is that people have a strong impulse to do something when a fight break out just to feel like they're contributing. Just sitting there watching your buddies duke it out while you're cloaked up out of the fight is rough. Now put that mindset in a ship whose only move is "bubble" and end up with a recipe for hilarious losses.

I only bubbled when ordered by the FC - I know that bubbling your own fleet can be fatal (and expensive). Hilarity still ensued.

The problem was position and timing. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

It does look extremely suspect. The suspiciousness of it is largely moot, though:

1) If Vee gets the Titan back, he's going to get back an unfitted hull. CCP almost never includes fittings, contents of the SMA/fleethangar, etc during reimbursement. So even if it's reimbursed, N2 can still go "haha made you go spend billions on a new set of turrets and X-type hardies"

I feel kind of bad that CCP gave me back a fully fitted Ishtar but wouldn't replace something far more valuable that got wrecked by an exploit. That sucks.

Most of the terrible bubbles I've seen are FC-ordered bubbles though, usually both mis-timed and mis-placed by the pilot. Like fast tackle, it's one of the roles that always requires some degree of initiative and experience, only with potentially far worse consequences if you gently caress up and bubble your own fleet. The only time one should need to be told to bubble by the FC is on a gate where you don't have access to the intel that the FC is getting from the other side.

But yeah, it takes a lot of practice, so chances are you're gonna gently caress up a few times along the way.

SO:
I will come clean and confess I spent 200 hours in empire space. Which I found out today was a total waste of time. I learned bad habits, didn't get to exploit the universe, played with other people ONCE. I started to cherish my ships with their stupid names. Oh how I thought "I am a badass space pirate who don't take no bullshit. Nobody can destroy me!! I HAEV BEEG GUNS." Oh how wrong I was as I was taught the glorious lesson of loss by my new friends. In literally 2 days, they adopted me as their own, roaming through nullsec. They strode the heavens, confident like warp riders in the storm. I met them over mumble and they helped me break those bad habits.
I learned to love the lesson of loss.
In EVE your ship is not armor, it's battle gear. What's worse, you must learn to become ammunition. My new friends asked me to shed my body and my ships. They asked for no money. Just my life. So I gave it to them and they took me to the promised land. Nullsec. Empire bitches shudder when they hear the word. Tricksters and Evil plotters all. A nullsec corporation. Thriving, surviving. On my first fleet all ships were fitted to a T and the FC spoke with confidence and AUTHORITY. We banded together like old friends and then, they trusted me with the sacred duty of getting loving blapped. Again I gave my life. Not in vain. Never in vain for them.
When I had idiotic questions they calmly addressed them and laughed off my idiocy. "No newbee, you can't fly that. Thats loving retarded." Bold men all, they had a point. So I suited up in my steed, gifted to me upon entrance (along with 100M ISK and counting + bounties + loot + sick sick logi). I put my pod, like loading a gun, into The AIDS Needle my new, free, Minmatar tackle. They told me "get on point you cute piece of poo poo" and I did as I was told. I scored my first killmail and I was now blood brother to these mad kings of skirmish.
It wasn't long after they taught me the bait and switch; once again giving my life like a bullet. Two days. Their most aggressive campaign yet. I was breathless. THIS. GAME. IS. AWESOME. HOLY poo poo. I had been missing this in Empire space. I was at a loss for the time i spent getting more pew pew out of ships i named after penises and stuff. I could have been getting mad killmails m8.
They accepted me. As I was. And showed me the galaxy as it really was. Brutal. Fatalistic. Swift, Righteous. These warrior few knew their destiny in the stars. They wanted it all and they wanted me to come with. I knew I was taken then, destined to play EVE for life. To lose the game, as they say.
But I couldn't have done it all and seen the best without Goons.

This seems to side with goons.

That is an NC. titan bumping off the shields and doesn't really answer any question. What it shows is that titans are bumping off the shields (and one of them is going 250m/s by the time they are 90k off) and that a enemy (CFC) titan is somewhere around 10-20km away from the tower on the opposite side, that could have gotten there from bumping via the cyno, a spy, or could have gotten there some other way.

What is fishy, at least to me, is either there two people directly involved per the TMC article (the bumper and guy lighting the cyno) or one person involved who got the password from a second, then bumped and lit a cyno. If two people were involved, what possible reason would you have to cyno in right on the shields? If one person was involved and they were so sensitive about time why was the cyno lit in nearly the furthest possible point he'd have to travel to get out of the shields to light it and why does it appear if he was in a rush then that he came to a complete or nearly complete stop before he lit the cyno based on the image?

I'm all for attacking what is an obviously bullshit story, but their idiotic claim is that they bumped him out, then popped a cyno "too close" and it shot him out the other side of the shield.

Right, and that's something you don't really get from only flying fleet ops. The best way to become a good fleet dictor pilot is to learn to be a good solo/small gang dictor pilot, scout, or FC yourself, so that you understand what you should be doing (and why) before the FC has to tell you.

Does this usually include destroyed ships in the SMA? Because only 3b of modules from that titan actually dropped. Did NC. even manage to scoop the wreck?

I hosed up a bubble shortly after joining PL and ended up accidentally bubbling our shieldcat fleet like a proper mongoloid. FC called to drop bubbles, which made no sense to me, but I did it anyway - unfortunately he meant for the hic elsewhere in system to take down his bubble. Lesson learned.

Don't skill for a Mach specifically. It's probably the most specialized, single-purpose subcap in GSF's repertoire. Get general skills so you can be good at many ships, and if that happens to make you good at Machs, all the better.

Hell, I'd wager that I've only flown a Mach once in the last six months, and that was the one in my super's SMA so that the pilot can ghostride a bumping ship in an emergency.

(Technically, there's also the "Suas Memorial Vanagon" mach, which is still in Syndicate. But that's a 6B-isk lossmail waiting to happen -- and will probably happen the day before I start winning at Eve.)

For what it's worth, the GSF reimbursement Mach skillplan isn't. It's a plan that will give a pilot an exceedingly good set of support skills, including a few critical utility options, which are allowed on alts. I'm not especially close to it, battleship Vs are a long ways away when you mostly prefer flying fast cruisers, like the scimitars that support Machariels, among others.
