I know it's sacrilege to say in this thread, but I wasn't super keen on The Body's work up until now. I really like the direction they're going with the new album though and it looks like they're playing near me next month. Also support from local sludge/psychedelic doom band Headless Kross, who're pretty cool.

Holy poo poo, I love the new Indian album. I didn't listen to much stoner/doom last year at all but between this and The Body, 2014 is off to a great start.

I love the new Conan. The end of 'Total Conquest' is so good. I recently just found out about Freedom Hawk and I was surprised I hadn't seen them brought up more. The singer almost sounds a lot like Ozzy, in fact at first glance it seems like a blatant Sabbath rip off but there's more there. Real easy to listen to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bzBpWZbGbA Lord Mantis is probably borderline for this thread but they've put up track from their forthcoming album. Their last album, Pervertor(blackened/sludge/death/doom I guess), is one of my all time favorite albums mostly due to how listenable and riffy they make this otherwise depraved music sound. I'm very excited about the new album Death Mask. Here's that track 'Negative Birth': http://www.stereogum.com/1672124/lord-mantis-negative-birth-feat-indians-dylan-otoole-stereogum-premiere/mp3s/

I think Death Mask is going to be right up there with the new Coffinworm and Indian as the sickest, just plain meanest album of the year. So here's a stream for Monolord's new album: http://www.decibelmagazine.com/featured/streaming-monolord-empress-rising/ It's Stoner, doom, sludge. I haven't had a chance to listen all the way through but it would seem that this will be one of favorites of 2014. They seem to be doing alright for a first release.

Thou/The Body collab has fallen out of the sky to crush us all to dust: https://soundcloud.com/vinyl-rites/thou-the-body-the-wheel-weaves It's available to order at vinylrites.bigcartel.com as well, unless I've just been robbed as part of an elaborate/awful April Fools. Also, Bongripper said that they finished recording their new album and it's 3 tracks and 66 minutes. Less sure of whether that's an April Fools or not though... I assume it isn't. e: they have actually finished mixing the album. nomapple fucked around with this message at 23:28 on Apr 1, 2014 |

Electric Wizard have finished recording their next album. Title and release date to be determined. Electric Wizard posted:...some song titles are ‘Time To Die,’ ‘Funeral Of Your Mind,’ ‘I am Nothing,’ ‘Sadiowitch’. It’s seriously fuckin’ heavy and dirty, but a departure from recent material production-wise…it’s more savage and distorted, but defined like the early Wizard. http://www.cvltnation.com/cvlt-nation-interviews-electric-wizard-2/
