Georgia Mayor’s Response to Mayors Against Illegal Guns is PRICELESS

Said response is pretty :freep: in its own right.

quote:

I do not support your efforts. I oppose efforts to require private sellers with minimal sales (non-dealers) to perform background checks. I am proud that gun shows are regularly conducted in Forest Park.

If you really want to reduce illegal gun sales, perhaps your energy would be better focused in petitioning the BATF to end its illegal gunwalking. Because of Operation Fast and Furious, Brian Terry was murdered with a weapon sold by our own government.

Your organization claims that the goal is “protecting the rights of Americans to own guns, while fighting to keep criminals from possessing guns illegally,” yet none of your “Coalition Principles” further any such protections. One of the principles is to “keep lethal, military style weapons off our streets.” First, I am awestruck that you would focus on “lethal guns.” It seems that guns’ lethality is the point of their design.

That you believe a gun’s “military style” makes it more lethal is asinine, and however you would define such style does not make guns so designed illegal. Your stated goals–protecting legal ownership and eliminating criminals from illegally possessing guns–are belied by your specific objectives. What you propose would convert what is currently legal possession into criminal behavior. You may have fooled other mayors, and you may have other fools who agree with your actual objectives, but you haven’t fooled me.

That your organization was founded by Michael Bloomberg, who criminalized the sale of sodas of a certain size, is telling. It is impossible to believe such a man is really concerned with the protections afforded by our Constitution.

Talk radio was already way ahead of you. Levin called Sharpton a "rat fink" yesterday, and lambasted him for helping the feds while also criticizing him for being a "street thug" drug dealer tax cheat. Then he called for an investigation into when Eric Holder knew about all of this because something something the president hung out with Bill Ayers and has met Sharpton a few times at the White House.

Then later he asked if a black liberal caller would protect him from being attacked by that black liberal caller's family if Levin went to visit them.

Hmm.. if I approach this from the standpoint of being a racist then all these things make perfect sense. I wonder if Levin is racist! Oh wait, he says he isn't, and so I guess I'll take his word for it because I'm implicitly wired to be trusting of white people.

Also known as the Chinese gooseberry until 1959.

quote:

Among the exporters was the prominent produce company Turners and Growers, who were calling the berries melonettes, because the local name for the fruit, Chinese gooseberry, had political connotations due to the Cold War, and to further distinguish it from real gooseberries, which are prone to a fungus called anthracnose. An American importer, Norman Sondag of San Francisco, complained that melonettes was as bad as Chinese gooseberry because melons and berries were both subject to high import tariffs, and instead asked for a short Maori name that quickly connoted New Zealand. In June 1959, during a meeting of Turners and Growers management in Auckland, Jack Turner suggested the name kiwifruit which was adopted and later became the industry-wide name.

The Jarretts are black and more connected to the Communist Party orbit in Chicago/Illinois than the Mafia (See: “The Enemies Within”, by Trevor Loudon, 2011 and 2013, https://www.pacificfreedomfoundation.org for more details on Valerie, her mother, Vernon Jarrett and marxists).

"These are the snows of yesteryear," Tyson said of the Oort cloud. "Drifting mountains of ice and rock, the preserved remnants of the birth of the solar system."
AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!! We've visited three comets, slammed a 643 pound mass of copper into one, and flown by several more including Halleys. . . NOT ONCE has any ice or water been observed or found. None. Zip! NADA! The closest was the observation of some hydroxyl radicals (OH) released when the Deep Impact probe impacted Comet 9P / Tempel in amounts less than 1/100th the amount expected for H2O. Yet there was no water at all. In fact, except by orbit, every comet was essentially indistinguishable from every asteroid we've visited, flown by, or probed.

But her is Tyson, nine years later, ignoring all the results of those fly-bys, touch-downs, and the impact and STILL talking about "ice and rock mountains!" That theory has been FALSIFIED! In spades!

I expect current science from this "update," not a rehash of discredited, old theories.

A total of 5 million kilograms (11 million pounds) of water[36] and between 10 and 25 million kilograms (22 and 55 million pounds) of dust were lost from the impact.[34]
By the way, since we have no good photographs of Tempel 1 actual ejecta, those numbers are wild rear end guesses. Said "water" was glimpsed as a self-illuminated spectrum line for just a split second or two in the flash, then dissipated. Deriving a quantitative figure is highly speculative. . . I, for one, would love to know how Dr. Sunshine picked that number out of the air. . . Figuratively.

That's about 1.3 million gallons. Hmmmm something doesn't smell right! That's about FOUR ACRE FEET of water!!! Now I know that number was pulled out of someone's nose! An acre is 235 feet in diameter. . . Enough water to cover a crater 235 feet in diameter four feet deep in water. . . But, but, but. The crater ain't that big, not by a very long shot!!!!

The blurry dimple in the center of the yellow circle is the crater made by the Deep Impact projectile. . . Note, it's not the dark one at the ten-eleven o'clock position, but right in the center. The yellow circle is about 100 meters in diameter
If the yellow circle is ~100 meters or 110 feet times 3 equals ~330 feet! then that little tiny dimple Deep Impact crater is 1/20 of that in diameter! Let's be generous and make it 1/10th or 33 feet in diameter. Assuming a hemispherical crater, the volume of material is calculated by volume = 1/2 x (4/3) x π x 1/2 33ft3. 9,408 cubic feet vacated from that crater. . .

Oh oh. . . There are 7.48 gallons in a cubic foot of water, and somewhat less in crystalline ice. . . but let's go with water. 7.48 times 9,408 cubic feet equals 70,372 gallons of H2O. . . Convert to kilograms. . . 266,387 kilograms of water, if the ENTIRE crater were full of only water!

Where did the rest of the 4,733,613 kilograms of water come from that Wikipedia claims blew out from that crater, not to mention the 10 to 25 million kilograms of OTHER ejecta that was somehow Stuffed into that hole. Somebody's exaggerating. . . Or should we say lying?

Conservapedia's Comet Page posted:

Creation theory
Main article: Hydroplate theory
Brown proposes a radically different theory for the origin of comets: that they originated from matter ejected into space during the global flood. According to his hydroplate theory, the Flood waters broke through a crustal rupture that persists today as the Mid-Oceanic Ridge system. This water was extremely hot and under tremendous pressure. Brown estimates that less than one percent was ejected into space. In the process, the edges of the crust at the rupture crumbled, and much of their material was ejected with the water.
The ejecta easily reached escape speed and soon passed beyond earth's gravitational influence. Some of the rocks abruptly formed spheres of influence of their own and attracted the surrounding water through gravitational accretion. Brown calculates that the ejecta included enough mass for 50,000 comets, far more than have thus far been observed.
Much of the water fell onto the moon and the planets Mercury and Mars, where it condensed and froze in the polar regions. The hydroplate theory also states that many of the rocks fell to the moon and thus created the craters and maria observed today.
Many of the comets were ejected into hyperbolic orbits, never to return to the inner solar system. Others were launched into near-parabolic orbits, either immediately or under the influence of the gas giants.
The high concentrations of deuterium reflect the initial composition of the subcrustal oceans. The organic matter came from earth and was never introduced to earth by the comets.

This is a level of idiocy I never thought I'd see. It's like a creationist going "There are no animals! Never have been. Never will be!"

Is that guy trying to make the argument that earth has the only water in the whole universe?

It wants to evolve from a place where gays once picketed to a place where they'll feel comfortable going to eat.

B.S. If homosexuals feel uncomfortable eating at Chik-fil-a, it's because of a stereotype created by the MSM, or themselves, divorced from reality.

Yeah gays, stop listening to the LAMEstream media and their anti -gay rabble rousing and get back to reality

Swordmaker seemed like he actually knew what he was talking about, and like most olds I'm not always up-to-date on the latest and greatest space stuff, so I thought that might be the kind of thing that I'd missed. But then I spent literally five seconds googling and found a NASA article from this year that explicitly referenced frozen water on comets so

I had a beer once with Stephen Miller and now I like him.

I also tried to ban someone from a Discord for pointing out what an unrelenting shithead I am! I'm even dumb enough to think it worked!

Yeah there's no excuse for not googling for 5 seconds and finding out that comets have water. But even beyond that the "dirty snowball" idea has been around since the 50's. Now I'm not sure when the first evidence to confirm that came out but 2005's deep impact actually shows exactly the opposite of what swordmaker is saying, confirming that most of the water/ice is below the comet's surface. I'm sure sometime between 1950 and 2005 we had other evidence that comet's contain water. Either via spectroscopy or other observations.

Essentially, yes. The unswerving belief that God created the Earth first, then everything else, leads one to start with the assumption that water has to originate here. Creationists are the worst kind of scientists: they start with the Biblical as a priori then twist logic around it.
