Ron doesn't need a co-host, he essentially hasn't had one in 8 years anyways. I can see a lot more comedians rotating in, but there isn't going to be another co-host.

As long as he has people to talk to, he'll be fine. He said as much to Fez multiple times. Plus, wasn't Big Jay mentioned yesterday as a possible replacement? Even in jest, it is a very good idea to have him in. The show could do with a Norton type who has a career outside of the show but still drops in and becomes part of the madness.

Oof, 3/28 show about an hour in, they get a girl caller on the phone so they have to shout over whatever she wanted so they can drag on about getting a picture of her. They spend a long amount of time just flailing around trying to load up pictures from Jimmy's site to find her. Then they find out she's 42 and say goodbye

Other than the boring interviews (which I skipped) today's R&F was pretty funny probably due to the lack of callers and lack of Fez...

It is extremely good I think the fact that the segment was a steaming hunk of poo poo until CQ called in indicates the main problem the show has with discussing social issues: they grind the comedy train to a screeching halt. I don't mind these topics being discussed, but for the love of god throw in a joke or two while you're at it. The guys don't have a rounded understanding of the issues they're discussing and seem to enjoy relentlessly echoing their ignorance back and forth. If that's the case, then at least make it funny. Any time the other side has a say, it's usually in a news clip or a caller Ant can quickly shout over. Patrice was the greatest guy to be in studio for these discussions because, although he wasn't a professor on the issues either, he did have an alternate experience he could draw from and he was always hilarious.

Long story short: these segments always Fez up the show. They're one-sided, 110% right bits, and it's lazy radio. And the boys are better than that. For crying out loud, I'd rather see them do more TV show related stuff than this. Go back to Quincy, for crying out loud.

Patrice was the greatest guy to be in studio for these discussions because, although he wasn't a professor on the issues either, he did have an alternate experience he could draw from and he was always hilarious. ie. how it's become a tired buzzphrase to say "WE NEED TO HAVE A DIALOGUE" as an empty declaration when an actual honest and frank discussion of society's recurrent schisms and ills is literally verboten essentially everywhere. O&A ranting aren't the antidote to this but a whole lot of reasonable public figures could stand to follow their lead and grow some spine to call non-partisan bullshit out when it makes itself frequently, readily apparent. This is the kind of "no sacred cow" coverage you should see on, say, the Daily Show on the regular but they always stay safe to not ruffle any feathers. That fear of unpleasant truths shouldn't exist and it weakens any culture it touches. I get mad every time I encounter a topic that Patrice would've enhanced immeasurably, which is quite often. A take-no-poo poo iconoclast (on the verge of gaining deserved fame) with incorruptibly streetsmart wisdom of the highest magnitude - there's no one with the guts and convictions to replace his unique voice and I'm depressed that there might never be anyone else like him again. With a flat asz! TheRationalRedditor posted:Any discussions they have ever are always better with a good comedian or two present, that has always gone without saying. The standpoint O&A take on this frequently-visited well may not be well-rounded as you say, but it's actually refreshing to hear anyone with a voice go to bat on behalf of the free speech "side" you never hear from out in the media at large because a cowardly standard of embarrassing eggshell walking and childlike ignorance of harsh realities. Yeah, but do they really delve that deep into it before it turns into foaming-at-the-mouth rage? It's a showkiller. If I wanted deep, intelligent discussion of social issues, I wouldn't go to the O&A channel. I go for the evil hilarity, the cruel humor, the stuff that shocks. Having Ant rage and then Opie backtrack isn't humor at all. They should just hire Colin to give them show ideas because the Lady Di internship is something that should have happened a long time ago. The Boys need a refresher. gently caress, why not just do an hour on the friggin Ropers? It would be better than the politics.

I'd consider the repetitive seething Obama rants a showkiller, I'm totally fine with what was heard today and it didn't even last that long. It's certainly more welcome than putting up with half an hour of musing on the asinine inner workings of kiss and the rock and roll hall of fame, as if that's something any adult but li'l Yimmy gives half a poo poo about. AND PUNT
