I think a lot of Bird Person's entertainment value stems from the fact that he's played so straight in a world of far wackier characters, which is funny in itself while sorta playing off the whole stoic, wise alien cliche.

e: also, he's got a big, goofy nose.

For some reason I loved the stoked guy with the weirdly angled face. His happy ending of being forever shoved into giant aliens' genitals had me laughing so much.

The weird shittily-drawn faces are one of my favorite background gags on this show. And often it's just a little crappy, like I think one of Jerry's bosses was all stupid looking like that, but sometimes it looks like loving garbage and that's great.

WUBBALUBBADUBDUBBS EVERYONE! That's a wrap! And a beautiful one.

Before the 5 minute mark I couldn't loving breath when someone said "I love watching bukakke, I mean like.." what the gently caress! Great end to the season. Best show on TV. 100Yearsforever.com.

And if I were to rank this poo poo-

Close Encounters of the Rick Kind
Rixty Minutes
Lawnmower Dog
Rick Potion #9
Something Ricked This Way Comes
Meeseeks and Destroy
Ricksy Business
Pilot
Anatomy Park

Raising Gazorpazorp.

Gazorpazorp is honestly the only episode I don't really love. It's got a good B-Plot, but the A-Plot, I'm not a fan of. Good moments. But overall a small, tiny nick in the show. And I wouldn't even call it "bad". But man, this is the best show I've seen in years. Hands down.

Every time I notice the feet, I have a chuckle.

Bird Person's dry monotone was definitely a highlight. He rode off with that girl at the end, so I suppose he still fits in with Rick's crowd... :rimshot:

Goddamn this show, I can't say anything that hasn't already been said but seriously its so good and I can't believe the season is over already.

Not gonna do a ranking because the show is so hysterically good that every episode is as worth it as every other but Rick Potion #9 is just on another level entirely. That ending, holy poo poo.

A-Level:
Close Encounters of the Rick Kind
Rixty Minutes
Lawnmower Dog
Rick Potion #9

A-minus-Level:
Something Ricked This Way Comes
Meeseeks and Destroy
Pilot
Anatomy Park

B-plus-Level:
Ricksy Business
Raising Gazorpazorp

But really every episode's hilarious and brilliant, and this has to be the strongest first season in a long time (especially for an animated show).

I actually really like Anatomy Park and M. Night Shaym-aliens myself but don't really like Lawnmower Dog Very much, pretty much the order of all the other episodes people have put up I agree with, though I didn't think Meseeks was the best, top three perhaps. I don't think I could pick a favourite episode though, they're all so great.

and I knew I recognised Bird Person's...er..plumage from somewhere.

I just hope they don't take 10 years to release a blu-ray of the season.

I mean, the Black Dynamite season finale was September of 2012 and the blu-ray isn't coming out until July. That's almost two years.

One of the little moments I loved that almost gets lost in the bukkake and weird alien sex is Morty getting trapped with the gear alien at the party. It was such a pitch-perfect satire of that guy at the party who's desperate to talk about the eastern front or the Irish troubles and is utterly immune to normal social signals. The only unbelievable thing was Morty being able to extricate himself after only 20 minutes.

One of the biggest misconceptions about the Gear Wars was that it was about gears.

I don't know if it was intentional but gear guy totally reminded me of this Heman toy.

Rewatching the latest episode, I noticed that Tammy, Bird-Person's hookup, was the girl who said she loves watching bukkake but wouldn't want to do it.

Later, when she's talking to Bird-Person, she states she's not looking for love, and then whispers into his ear:

"I'm sure Bird-Person can arrange that."

For example taking the idea that Abraham Lincoln's views are pretty much the polar opposite of Hitler's, and turning it into a joke by having Lincler point this out repeatedly and do nothing else. Or taking the idea that people turning a catastrophe like the Titanic into something romantic is pretty twisted, and using it to make a bunch of opposite world jokes with the crew.
