Of course my BearPope gear arrives in the middle of a torrential storm system... at least I got one ride in on dirt before Noah got to start building his ark. Cycling kids are supposed to be loud and obnoxious. If not, you are doing it wrong. EDIT: ^ like that first one especially. I would wear that.

We're actually getting a side entry garage because that's a free/required upgrade in the neighborhood, and I don't think we're going with those colors on the house, but that's what the developer had on their website for the house. I don't know what we're going to do with all this space. That sitting room is the size of my daughter's current bedroom, and the morning room is bigger than our entire kitchen currently. Hopefully the house lasts the 20 years I want it to.

Wife's birthday is coming up so I cashed in some Air Miles and got an HP Slate 7 Extreme (2,550 Airmiles) I'm really loving Jellybean 4+ and think it's much better than Apple and MS's offerings, but that's just my opinion. I wanted a tablet that was a bit smaller than a full-sized iPad/Surface, but not small enough that it might as well have been a phone. Overall really liking the speed, speakers, and stylus and have been loading up on free apps and stuff for my wife. I've never been a tablet person, but this has won me over and it might be difficult giving it up when the time comes.

Ok, that makes sense. Yea the sitting room is about the size of our "master". Ugh. Could you give me a ballpark for what it costs to build a home of this size and what area you're in? I'm assuming around here it would cost around $300-400k or so but I'm in a rural area (and also that's a complete guess).

We'll be ~25 minutes away from down town Cincinnati, right along the eastern I-275 loop, but I wouldn't go so far as to call the location rural. I know the developer says this plan can start as low as 250k depending on the area, and it started at 275 in the sub division we're in. Rule of thumb, plan for at least 40k in upgrades to get non-poo poo cabinets, flooring, lights, countertops, sinks, faucets, and all that stuff. We met with multiple developers and we always came in above that figure with just some modest changes.

Flipperwaldt posted:My mom has one and it sucks balls for what she paid for it (~800). Sony's quality has really slipped in the last decade when it comes to their laptops. I remember one from 03 or 04 that was built like a rock and it only died after a power surge killed it and a telephone at my aunt's house last year. My wife's 2009 Vaio was an almost literal piece of junk with the keyboard losing a lot of it's springiness after the first year, the battery being down to 30 minutes tops after the second year, and the fan needing to be replaced on a yearly basis as it runs full blast 90% of the time. Sony is still charging their "premium quality" prices, and from what I can see, they haven't made any premium notebooks for a long time.

I also have one (from work) and I kind of like it. It has enough power to have a lot of stuff going on at the same time. But then again, my previous laptop was from 2010, so I don't really have any other recent laptops to compare it with. I mainly use it with an external keyboard and screen, though, so I can't comment on the keyboard.

It's my birthday two days ago. Ordered myself some folding knives. Spyderco KIWI 3- for opening envelopes, wrappers, cutting string and ropes. It's good for my needs because it doesn't lock and is short and the wharncliff profile doesn't appear aggressive- the law is very restrictive here. I think it looks smart, too. CRKT Razel stubby. I have no idea why I need this but I know that I do. Sharpening pencils? Again, the stub edge makes it clearly a utility knife therefore better to carry around. Look, it's just so cute! Spyderco Delica 4, grey. Just to have a really nice one. I'll leave it at home and maybe take it with me when I go on reserve duty or camping.

Going to see what I can do about getting a very quiet opener, maybe a side mounted one. I just wish I could take a big chunk of the MBR and get a bigger loft for the kids, because it's like half the drat upper level. Seems so wasteful.
