I noticed certain weapon types are locked from all classes until I get a certain amount of points in certain classes (such as 15k Engineer score for Carbines). Is there a certain one I should work on first?

are the 12G slugs a OHK with any of the shotguns? I feel like I could do better as a recon with a shotty for the smash and grab aspect, but I dont like that I would be limiting my range significantly and hampering my mid-long range defence. Pistols are poo poo so you cant use those to take someone out at distance. EDIT VVVVV I like the Rex, its probably my favorite pistol because its the most effective, however I want something that can fire faster and or fit a suppressor. I said it a while back but I wish this game would let you leave a main weapon slot empty in exchange for carrying an extra accessory or something. Yeah I know that sounds like BlOps 2, but it's a good mechanic, OK?

For all three of the goons in the west coast Xbone crew, my friends (Brindy and Thrawn, if you've played with them) just picked up their own Xbones and BF4, so I'll likely be playing a lot more in the evenings and nights Pacific time. If you're sick of all the Xboners logging off at 9pm Pacific so they can do silly things like go to bed, but still want to play with an actual competent group, hit me up at TheOneAndOnlyT7.

I like to play games like this around that time so I will definitely add you. I also suck at BF and I could probably learn a few things playing in a group. My COD skills don't transfer over to BF, apparently.

Ugh terrible teams. The only nice thing is they make the other team let their guard down. At one point two of our tanks, one lav, and at least a full squad of soldiers were on our nearest point. They couldn't recapture it. Nick I've decided I like vehicle combat better on BF4. The lock-on weapons are still obnoxious as gently caress, but with APS finally working, they're still pretty powerful. Also, APS does not block alphabet soup shells. hosed me right up.

lavs, maa, and the attack boat are fun to use, especially the boats, but my beloved mbts are poo poo. they're slow as gently caress, hmg is too inaccurate, lmg is too weak, etc. air vehicles suck donkey dick for the most part, except for the stealth jets, but even then those are kind of boring because I have no way to gun down angry ants with stingers. I miss flying around in my f18 nuking points on caspian and kharg. I kind of stopped playing this a few weeks ago. I'm gonna wait and see what Dice does with it in the coming months, but for now I'll probably go back to 3 or just stick with Dark Souls 2 until I get a new console or something.

I played some bf4 yesterday. I found that I still enjoy shootymans as much as the day I got my system. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get naval strike when it comes out today? Carrier mode sounds way better than flag mode from second rear end and I don't mind the island like maps.

Terrible rubber banding until DICE finally upgrades their servers (they only realized a few weeks ago that the game that they released 8 months ago *might* be running on servers that can't handle the strain).

The rubber banding on Naval Strike (carrier assault especially) is the worst. Most games are essentially unplayable.

Yeah thanks guys. I mean if they actually deliver on upgraded servers (and hell custom servers too) I'll probably get it then. I probably would have been frustrated buying the maps today and unable to kill anything or even play it due to rubber banding.

To add on to what others have said, Naval Strike is what's making me consider getting a premium refund. I hate the map designs which would be one thing but the rubber banding is terrible. This is on top of rubber banding still being present on the base maps. The horrible release combined with a bunch of 4x games coming out really killed a lot of my BF4 interest. I wish they'd either let people rent servers as was rumored, or mix up the map rotation to have CR/SA maps thrown in as well.

How is it broken? Is it just a leggy mess? I keep getting tempted to buy premium but it still seems the people largely play on the vanilla maps and really I'm not bored of them yet so meh. I'd probably be more tempted if the ps4 bros hadn't been so sparse over the last month and people were actually playing the DLC maps more than the main game.

I'd play more but god drat its just annoying that almost every map these days has you moving all over the place. The rubberbanding isn't even close to acceptable since NS came out. Did they say when they plan to move to servers that are capable of running conquest, you know the "true battlefield experience"?

I agree lag and rubber-banding is bad. I don't agree on asking for a refund for Premium. I've got 400 excellent hours with friends outta this and I reckon that's worth the game and Premium. There's also still two more expansions to go.

Yeah if they add the custom servers and we ps4 guys could rent a server for a few months and have an excellent map rotation, I'd buy all the map packs. Right now I'm only interested in naval strike for carrier mode but that doesn't work well even now apparently. And the only good rotation is vanilla currently.

The only real problems I've got on PC are having to listen to Australians, and my non-goon buddies only ever wanting to play Locker/Metro. If people are still playing, I'll probably get a PS4 with battlefield when I'm less busy with other things (work/music/etc.), and if/when a BF4 + Premium is released like they did with BF3. It's fun and all, but not worth paying NZ$200 (again) that it is currently. Chalupa Joe fucked around with this message at 23:55 on Apr 15, 2014 |

So I'm slowly going through each level in the campaign and one of the dog tags in Shanghai that's stuck in an elevator door wasn't showing up even though I managed to pick it up while a couple of tags in Baku I already got are still showing as if I didn't pick them up. A bunch of the weapons are in weird locations too. Why am I playing this again? Oh right, because I'm a "completionist". More importantly, playing it made me load up Origin to re-visit the roots of the series, and much to my surprise, there are still a good number of servers for 1942, BF2, and 2142. I didn't play much 1942 in its heyday, but I got a decent taste of what I missed after playing a few rounds, I think. I started with BF2 and got nostalgia overload with that and 2142 though. I also realized I'm missing BF: Vietnam and the Vietnam expansion for Bad Company 2. Have to get those. I know this is the console thread, but anyone have any stories to share from the first three games? Would love to hear them.

My bf experiences, in a nutshell... 1942: Shooting mans on a LAN. Simpler times. Good times. Desert conflict (?) and some other Vietnam mod extend the play. Vietnam: Still shooting mans on a LAN, but this time from a huey with a tank hanging underneath with CCR blaring. BF2: All the medic-ing, all the time. Outsniping snipers with a burst fire G36. Paying cash monies to play at an internet cafe with a broadband connection for 64 player action. 2142: stomping on fools with my friend at the aforementioned net cafe in our mech/engineer combo. Storming titans. Bad Company: Hesitant that such a concept will work (Console? Reduced player count? Rush?), a friend tells me it really is good. So I buy a 360 and the game right there. Demolishing buildings! Good times are had. '43: a stopgap, but a fun one. Bad Company 2: the first time I play with goons. Remove trees, stomp pubbies. Arica Harbour 4 lyfe. BC see above, but with CCR blaring. BF3: more goons, but less destruction. Littlebirds. Partybus. Killing all the mans with a 1911. Questionable server rules. Drekins. "Smooth sailing". BF4: Bonus hipster/gamer points: Codename Eagle: shooting mans, flying biplanes, stealing zeppelins.

Does someone want to give any advice for flying jets? I thought it was clicking yesterday when I got my first jet ribbon but it all went to poo poo tonight and all I feel I know about jets is fly at 315 mph. Anything would be appreciated, thanks.

I can't fly the jets for poo poo this tone round. I swear they've changed something with the thumbsticks or something, even in veteran or whatever. I was a menace in the skys on BF3. Totally given up on the suav and all other jet related goodies. And as far as Naval Strike is concerned, it's loving awesome. Most of the servers have rubber banding, but it is possible to find some that play perfectly. The mix between naval/air/land/indoor combat works brilliantly. Easily the best looking maps so far as well.

I thought it was clicking yesterday when I got my first jet ribbon but it all went to poo poo tonight and all I feel I know about jets is fly at 315 mph. Anything would be appreciated, thanks. A lot of it is knowing when to disengage from a turn battle if you are having trouble sighting the other jet. If you are being followed a pitched angle to the turn can sometimes be better than just turning on a more or less 2D plane. So, instead of just turning completely sideways and holding nose up, turn slightly less than sideways and do a nose up. Changing the turning radius and pitch of the turns can get poor pilots off you or make them think you are going to loop, letting you get behind them instead. Make small adjustments with the left stick (Note: I have mapped a controller to have the same layout as BF3 console flight controls for my PC, so you're getting my controls here) before firing on stationary targets instead of trying to adjust pitch and direction like that. Don't be afraid to abort a run on a vehicle if you don't like the terrain or the support it has. Never let a pilot get above you, it's near instant death as they'll have a better view of what you are doing and can track you easier than if you were above them. Take the occasional stupid risk around terrain or structures. This is especially helpful if you are being followed by another pilot. Not only can you break their LoS for a few moments, but less experienced pilots may end up in a bad spot and either crash or leave you alone. The turbine blades on Paracel, the buildings on Dawnbreaker, the hills and hotel on Hainan and the pillars on Rogue Transmission are all good for these maneuvers.
