What is this? Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? (Is the order a rabbit?) is this season's chill as gently caress anime adaptation of a 4-koma manga. The manga is serialised in Manga Time Kirara Max (Kinmoza, Kanamemo) and currently has 3 volumes on sale. What's the plot? Hoto Cocoa (hah) is new to town and gets lost looking for the house she's supposed to lodge at. She finds a cafe called "Rabbit Cafe" and goes in, expecting to find tons of rabbits to hug. There's only one rabbit (Tippy) who spends most of its time on the owner's granddaughter, Kaafu Chino's head. Turns out the cafe was where Cocoa was going though, and school policy says that in exchange for lodging she's supposed to work around the house. Thus commences a chill as gently caress anime about girls chatting in a cafe. Did I mention the rabbit talks? Cause it totally talks. Characters Hoto Cocoa (VA: Ayane Sakura - Natsumi from Non Non Byori, Merry from Yumekui Merry) Nice and friendly. She likes hugging rabbits. Acts dumb as poo poo but she's actually good at maths. Turns out she's basically really skilled at a lot of things. Name = Hot Cocoa Kaafu Chino (VA: Inori Minase - Suzu from Love Lab) Taciturn straight man to Cocoa's antics. Primarily exists as a form of transportation for Tippy. Makes a good cup of coffee. Name = Cappuccino Tedeza Lize (VA: Risa Taneda - Yukari from Yuyushiki, Aya from Kinmoza) Shy girl who is also obsessed with the army. Carries a gun for self protection. The tsundere character. Named after a premium brand of tea apparantly. Ujimatsu Chiya (VA: Satomi Sato - Ritsu from K-ON) Cocoa's schoolfriend who works in a rival cafe, not that it matters. Loves japanese culture. PArticularly loves making japanese sweets and then giving them obtuse names. Name = a form of green tea There's a blonde girl at some point. I am behind on anime so I have no idea what her deal is Tippy (VA: Motomu Kiyokawa - Kozo in NGE) World's manliest rabbit. Spends his day working at the cafe about his noble steed Chino, and his night working as a bartender with Chino's dad. Does not like to be petted. Actually chino's grandad in a rabbit's body for some reason Why should I watch this -It's chill as gently caress. -Everyone has a pun name. -World's manliest rabbit. -Funny jokes. What's bad about this -Character design is the worlds blobbiest moeblobs -Tamako market did the talking animal thing better. -Lize is subjected to fanservice shots, and is first introduced in her underwear. This may not change. Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? is available for streaming on Crunchyroll in the US and UK. Finally, an anime that can answer the age old argument, "Is anime art?".

Less obnoxious than I had feared. At first I expected something somehow worse than the "desu" girl in the Kanojo Flag thing.

This show is too weird. I don't think I'm on board. It seems like there should be less underwear and more caffeine jitters.

The second episode was fanservice free, if anyone was worried about that being a problem.

well I love me some rabbits, this is a must watch for me even if it is overly moe blob. Now if only there were more anime or manga about rabbits, or even tangentially related.... I think I have a problem help

Croissants take the better part of a day to prepare. (Unless it wasn't croissants they made, but just a similarly shaped bread. They do exist.) What I did like was that they swapped rabbits. Way to leave granddad behind, Chino.

Finally managed to catch up, especially liked the bread making since I liked watching yakitate. And it's nice how they explained the rabbit was an angora rabbit as it did not look like a regular one. I feel like this series is somehow going to reference, or involve every piece of niche anime or manga I have read or watched.

Episode 2's voices were too squeaky, but I watched episode 3 because of its ridiculous gimmick title. In this episode we meet another character whose name I've already forgotten, who is apparently a tableware enthusiast.

Girl-crushes and Metal Gear Solid references, show is pretty good. No one can actually like the taste of rations though.

It's an anime about girls drinking coffee and eating sweets, but this time it's ACTUALLY about girls drinking coffee and eating sweets. This is definitely my moe of the season. MOTS.

I can't put a finger to it but I'm finding this show very organic--the characters don't solely act like types, and it has some genuinely heartwarming stuff, like Syaro's "secret" and Cocoa-and-Chino's sisterly bond. Normally I'd bat an eyelash over the latter but it's handled cleanly. Also, for an anime with schoolgirls, there's refreshingly very little school-related hijinks. It doesn't feel like they're in Japan, though? The town looks really European.

Some good scenes here and there like the pancake one, but everything else about this show is so boring and bland. I understand it's an SoL and doesn't really aspire for much, but even then, I have a hard time turning off my brain and enjoying it. Considering we went almost three episodes with no discussion, it seems I'm not alone.

But slice of life shows don't lend themselves well to lengthy discussions unless something really sticks out.

I agree with this as Hidamari was the nice little show that occasionally taught me art stuff, this is the show that occasionally tells me coffee things. Also going over the OP, I complete forgot that I knew all of the voice people already pretty much. The lady who does Chiya in this has a real good range since I always forget she's Ritsu/Chitanda/Wendy. Also I hope we get to see more of the very tough bunny.

I am loving the heck out of this show; currently on episode seven. I can't help but feel like it's almost like... cafe porn, given the detail into which they go concerning cafe life. I've been one gigantic sucker for cute slice-of-life stuff lately, though, so I guess this is naturally a series I'm coming to adore.

Welp, series is over. Loved it all the way, enjoyed Chino's development and growth as a person, and pretty much almost everything about the series. Chill to the end, probably a bit too chill in the end. Really gonna miss my weekly dose of cafe slice of life.
