In LR, use the dust tool to remove the white orbs of street lights. Scenes like this work better if you have a solid black silhouette than having distracting lightorbs.

Its not pretentious, it does feel over processed in some way.

You did good. What I did that was different possibly, was use the perspective adjustment tool in LR5.4. I did actually shoot it a bit "off" as well but using the perspective tool, I was able to pull it more true.

Night hours are soon. A good reason to become a member.

I didn't, but now you mention it that could work.

Edit: tried cropping in this Flickr aviary doodad. I gave it a wider aspect ratio rather than preserving the current one, as without the sea at the bottom it needed a little less sky.
