Well, to be fair, every woman on Earth is a whore. So I'm sure there's pornography out there starring Diana Rigg getting railed by two or three mega-hung black studs, as well, and not from when she was young and hot, either. *dons fedora*

There is a long history of unresolved HBO series and if they don't clarify what beloved Khaleesi is doing out in the great gently caress off desert they could lose their audience. I'm sure GRRM will make some nice suggestions about how to resolve this. He probably even has a number where he can get in touch with their voicemail. HBO will cut any of its projects the moment it looks like they are going to lose money.

I thought the HBO subscription model shielded them from money concerns regarding actual eyeballs on their programs? Either way, if Walking Dead can ironically live on this long I think this show can survive one of it's popular characters being not as popular for a while. Not like there aren't 8 other storylines to pay attention to. And that's assuming the TV writers suddenly lose their uncanny ability to edit GRRM down into something good.

It does in part. However, they've still been known to cancel shows whose actual viewership doesn't justify the cost. Case in point: Carnivale. EDIT: Having said that, I don't think this show is going anywhere for awhile. They get massive amounts of merchandising money and I believe the ratings are higher than anything else they've got on the air. I seem to recall reading that the season 4 premiere was their highest rated program since the Sopranos finale. Jedi fucked around with this message at 20:20 on Apr 24, 2014 |

I'm pretty sure the show I got my lovely avatar from (also the best one they currently have on btw) loses money by the boatloads, but they still just renewed it for a 4th season anyway. If a show is good for their brand and brings in a certain demographic, it's worth it for them.

You have to take into account the costs of production. They might not have to worry about so many long term contracts (heh) as Sopranos might have but they do a lot of shooting in multiple locations. Then there is all the costuming and set pieces. That kind of stuff adds up in a time where more people are dropping cable plans. Yes some people are subscribing to HBO to see Game of Thrones but quite frankly that is proof that they aren't good with money and not of a reliable revenue stream.

I'm one of the cord cutters, for no reason other than budget. It's loving WEEEEEEIRD on the rare times I get back to normal TV or an official stream for a network and see dodgy rear end TV commercials again. If they sold some kind of HBO-GO add on for Netflix I would totally throw them another ten bucks a month. I just read they're doing something similar with hulu or someone.

If you know anyone with HBO who doesn't mind you having their log in info for their cable/sat provider you can just "pirate" it that way. The downside to this is sometimes their player dies as a billion people try to watch GOT at the same time. The upside to this is that you can see Lena Dunham's boobs on demand.

What I said was probably hyperbolic but like Intel&Sebastian I just got rid of my directv because of cost. I would have liked to have kept them since I always had nice service but a budget is a budget. Plus like people said the providers are looking towards directly providing content with apps. Ten dollars for HBO-Go that I could watch on my computer or Firetv would be a nice value. I'm sure a lot of networks are watching things like the WWE streaming network or UFC's Fightpass to see what the appetite for similar things would be. Warner and HBO are totally finishing this book series.

Davos is the dopest rear end character in this entire scatological series and I wish gurm could have written less about Tyrion's boring trek across the world and dany ~daario~ing and more about bad rear end fingerless roguish Davos loving Seaworth, and his future adventures into cannibal rickon's kingdom. I loving hate how the show is loving over Davos by giving him like, literally, 3-5 scenes an entire season, because Davos owns, and Liam Cunningham owns. And since gurm will never finish the books, the show is the only "new" Davos I'm gonna get. Since ACOK has the most davos, we are already past peak Davos and can only look forward to like 3 more scenes with him. Also like half the characters in the show are gonna be at AFFC/ADWD time period by the end of this season which is super lol for gurm. Hey man, congrats on lagging so loving hard on finishing your series that it is guaranteed someone else is gonna finish it for you first! Game of Davos opens each week with a visually appealing CGI sequence of various clockwork versions of Liam Cunningham erupting from the landscape of another, more massive Liam Cunningham.

Davos is the kind of character who due to both circumstance and personality moves the plot forward rapidly, that's why GRRM is compelled to skimp on his chapters in AFFC/ADWD, see also: Jaime, Sansa. Much easier to write Sam's "going from point A to point B, anecdotes happen" chapters.
