Went 3-2. Lost the first 2 matches, but then won almost straight the last lot. My pool was okay, that's probably the right record for it, though I was robbed in my very first game so a little salty.

Pool had a Kruphix, which I ended up not running, and a Mana Confluence. Only got my Scourge of Fleets down once, but it was a blow out when I did. Had two of the fixed O-Ring in my pool too, so was splashing white for some removal (those and an Excoriate and the 2/1 flying vigilance guy were the splash) because 2 of those is just great.

Card that did the most work is the 3 mana naturalize with strive. I regularly got it for 2, sometimes 3 and it just got rid of so much good stuff.

Prize packs, I lucked out. Got 3 JOU, 2 BNG. (store is doing 2 guaranteed JOU, plus a pack for each win, the mix of JOU to BNG depends on wins, etc.)

JOU #1: Green Dictate. (Fine, probably trade fodder, maybe EDH deck.)
JOU #2: White Dictate (sweet EDH card) AND I got a foil Doomwake Giant (doing black tomorrow, so will decide which foil art I like more :P)
JOU #3: Scourge of Fleets. (I like the promo Scourge, but the regular one has a Jaws feel about it, which is awesome.)

Onto BNG, I said, after some good pulls in JOU, onto likely disappointment:

BNG #1: Fated Conflagration. (This card is fine.)

BNG #2: Prizepack Brimaz Best Brimaz.

Welp, not making better value than that tomorrow unless I luck into one of those all God packs.

This was probably the worst sealed pool I've ever opened. I literally had 4 red creatures. 2 1 drops and 2 6 drops. Managed to scrounge up two match wins. Ate it raw on mana screw in 2 of my matches. Misplayed myself out of game 1 at least in round 3 when I wrote down a guy's life total wrong and put him to 1 instead of -1. :downsbravo:

One of those was at our LGS too, a new guy with his little brother who happened to be in town and wanted to find a prerelease. We didn't do too much to look into it, but most of our players rushed out after they finished since it's prom night at our local high school. The dude and his brother had a great time though, so hopefully they remember the store next time they're around.

Went 1-2-1. Picked Black, didn't really have any "big guys" so it was a white / black aggro deck supplemented with removal, couldn't use the promo as I had 3 total enchantments. Seemed like the whole day I had opponents casting Scourge of Fleets and Pin to the Earth against me.

First round was against Marshall Sutcliffe and we were in game 3 on turns that he sealed up on turn 4, really long and back / forth but a lot of fun. He had a Fated Infatuation / Mnemonic Wall combo going for quite a while scrying for Scourge for the win . He played Esper (if I remember correctly) with a lean more towards blue and black

Second round opponent was blue / green with a red splash magma spray. He snagged G1, I took G2 quickly and G3 was really long and we ended up drawing.

Third round was against Black / Green splash Red. Won in less than 10 minutes between both games and shuffling. Just aggro'd him out.

Forth was against a Blue White Green splash Red deck. Had the win on board G1 but he dropped Scourge of Fleets with Medomai already on board and that more or less closed it out for him. G2 was more of the same thing.

Packs weren't too impressive, but I did snag a Mana Confluence out of the Journey pack... Now, to sell immediately or to hold onto it... Decisions, decisions... Any thoughts?

Went 4-1 with what I'm thinking of now as FlyingOctopus.dec (primary win conditions: Aerial Formation + Scourge of Fleets, Prophet of Kruphix + Scourge of Fleets, Heroes' Bane + one turn of the other player gaping as they try to figure out what to do with the 8/8 that's about to be a 16/16, etc).

My loss round (0-2) was against a mostly-black Constellation deck that handed out -1/-1 penalties like candy and killed off my small fry before I could get buffs/evasion online.

The second-closest (2-1) was against a deck that used Heroic first/double strikers and forced tapping to dominate the board, but ultimately getting Prophet of Kruphix out in both games I won let me drop Scourge of Fleets in one when he had a board full of attackers, and Heroes' bane in the other to keep his board control busy before I dropped in Mischief and Mayhem and Aerial Formation at the same time to hit him to the dome with everything.

Nothing really amazing otherwise in the sealed packs or reward packs, though I almost went UB (and probably would have if not for Prophet of Kruphix) just for the chance to try and drop Worst Fears on somebody.

Just got home from going 4-0 with RW Punch You in the Face. Picked Black, but White was too good to not be my primary color and Red had to most combat tricks. Basically anything above 3CMC immediately caused damage or helped me throw guys at my opponent.

That makes 7-1 for this round of Prerelease, my best to date.

I went with the white pack. Had all the pump spells but no dudes... So built a UB mill deck using that one drop, a returned centaur, the enchantment synergy mill two....and an ashiok. Went 3-1 with my one loss putting my opponent at 1 life and maybe 3 cards left but being just a bit short.

You can't change nature, Jack.
Went 4-1 with a really mediocre GB deck for a top 8 split, I had some good heroic guys, but no good enablers, I didn't have a single green monstrous guy, didn't open a single playable rare outside of the GB temple and the promo Heroes' Bane. A single Golden Hind and two Renowned Weaver were probably the MVPs. Maindeck Consign to Dust lead to some big blowouts. Between my pool and my prize packs I opened 3 Temples, a Nykthos and a Mana Confluence, so I suppose I made out pretty well.

There were some silly pools going around, someone opened two Iroas and every good card you could ask for in W and R, and someone had two Heroes' Bane and a Polukranos.

It's both thrilling and terrifying.
Just got back from the pre-release, picked white, and just opened some crazy cards. Athreos, King Macar, Hundred-Handed One, Keepsake Gorgon, along with the Charioteer promo and 2 of those Crane dudes made for an insane Orzhov deck. Ended up going 3-0 and splitting with the dude in the finals.

Fun fact: King Macar plus that white aura where enchanted creature gains pay 1W, Tap: Gain 3 life is pretty much unbeatable. Gain 3 life, exile your biggest dude, get a Lotus Petal, repeat.

First place was a box of JiN, 2nd was $50 store credit, so all in all a good day spent. Only regret is that I never got to turn the God on.

Picked black because the store was out of white. Our store has poo poo for prize support, there were around 20ish people there and prize support was 20 packs. I think normal prize support is supposed to be 2 packs per player? I feel like some kind of ghost, showing up to top 8 each prerelease then disappearing until the next one.

Either way, I had what I believe is a pretty bad deck but I piloted it to 3-1 and then won 2 rounds to split the finals for 7 packs each plus a play mat and a small card portfolio.

GB Constellation

Creatures (13)
1x Golden Hind (Llanowar Elk)
1x Satyr Hedonist
1x Felhide Brawler (The carrier of the Lyre)
1x Setessan Oathsworn (Never cast it)
2x Oakheart Dryads
1x Grim Guardian
1x Ravenous Leucrocota
1x Reaper of the Wilds (Cast it twice on turn 3 and it won both games for me)
1x Doomwake Giant
1x Dreadbringer Lampads
1x Thoughtrender Lamia
1x Marshmist Titan (Never cast it)

Other Stuff (10)

1x Cruel Feeding (Turned so many races)
1x Siren Song Lyre (MVP of the deck)
1x Ordeal of Erebos (I made someone discard 4 cards with this in one game before)
1x Feast of Dreams
1x Cast into Darkness
1x Nyx Infusion (Really useful removal)
1x Colossal Heroics (Great for lethal or superblocking people)
1x Reviving Melody (Absolute backbreaker if I return 2 things)
1x Read the Bones
1x Extinguish All Hope (Cast it twice, it won both games for me)

Round 1 - Against someone playing RW but they weren't that good of a player. I lost game 1 from mana screw but games 2 and 3 he overextended into extinguish even when I was dead on board without the extra creatures, and it got him beaten.
Round 2 - Against one of my friends. He played an Ajani and giant hydras in both games and I lost quickly.
Round 3 - Basically round 1 again, lost game 1 and won 2 and 3.
Round 4 - Crushed someones dreams by playing turn 3 Reaper of the Wilds in game 1, in Game 2 I got an early ordeal and returned it right afterwards to get rid of the remainder of his hand.

Top 8
8 - Against same person as round 3, didn't get mana screwed and won both games quickly.
4 - Up against someone who hadn't lost a game at all, he won game 1 when I drew all swamps and all green spells. Game 2 he lost because he got greedy and attacked with all not expecting a strived +2/+2 to finish him off the next turn. Game 3 the same thing happened, except I strived the lifelink to make the race unwinnable for him and finished the last 2 life off with my Guardian.
2 - Split.

Went 3-0-1 today, splitting at top. PIcked black for my pack and opened some poo poo rares, including the green and the blue promo cards. Best cards were Shrine and Nylea, but I played a really dumb and durdly blue/black tempo(?) deck. Or control.

Best cards for me were probably the starfish, the 2/3 deathtouch minotaur, and that one black strive card where your creatures get +1/0 and lifelink. Pin to the ground was great as well. It wasn't a great pool but I was pretty happy with the deck. The three rares I played were the blue promo, the black promo giant and dictate of erebos, that new grave pact.

Got 8 packs, opened a godsend, both scrys, deicide and some other random stuff. It's cool. Buddy got two packs and pulled an Athreos which is awesome.

You should totally report that to WotC. Prerelease organizers get given two boosters per player to use as prize support, the store is literally ripping off both Wizards and their players if they're just pocketing half of that.

he then said he and the ID opponent at the top each got 7 packs, so I have to assume the store is trying to do a top heavy prize pool, but without putting additional packs in themselves. They may be using all the packs intended, but not necessarily AS intended. (Which, tbh, is pretty weaksauce. My LGS gives the 2 packs, plus a pack per win. We don't have a bonus prize for topping out though, theres no cut to T8)

I got 3 Athreos out of 3 seeded packs so far. WotC is handing them out like candy. I have also gotten a foil Ajani from a prize pack. He is a really ugly foil. So ugly that I turned him into several shocklands and a playset of UR scrylands. This was in the friday night midnight release at star city. 20 packs of prize support for 20 players is still half of what it's supposed to be, even if first and second get 14 of those packs between them.

^ Yes, they are literally required to give out at least two packs per player in prize support. Wizards sends them free booster boxes exactly for this purpose. If they're just pocketing half of that they're essentially stealing, and you should report them.
